Not been here for at least a dozen years but pleased to come back this time overnight. Characterful place despite many alterations and adjustments down the centuries. Lovely setting at the heart of an unspoilt village. Chunky big house and park just across the road, tidy parish church and yard together with clusters of well kept traditional housing.
There seems to have been some work on the pub since our last visit. There is now a largish airy high and glazed ceilinged room on the left side which works excellently for gatherings and events. On our day it was Italy v England 6 Nations with a lot of satisfied high spirited home supporters.
Staff here are an affable engaging efficient bunch, keen to maintain a high standard without formality or stuffiness. Dog friendly throughout. There is a well pitched selection of pub food, tasty and sensibly priced. Fresh cooked but service quick.
We had a room at the front on the first floor. Comfortable, low key, just what we needed, easy full nights sleep for us and our dog. Quiet. Only noise, the occasional squeak of joists or big old beams. Up at dawn for a hours walk around the local lanes and footpaths and back for a full breakfast. Even on a February Sunday this place had plenty of customers for the rooms and others just drinking or dining.
Cost the two of us and dog, about £160 for room, dinner, breakfast and much booze spread over several hours. Happy to unequivocally recommend the place. Booking was easy although finding a night when there was room going was a hurdle. We shouldn’t always leave these things till the last minute.

I stop here quite regularly on cycling trips for a pub lunch but came for the first time for a proper Sunday lunch on Sunday 27th September (2020) after a delightful walk from nearby Luckington with friends. This pub has everything - it's a tastefully modernised Cotswold pub set in a gorgeous English village, it has a welcoming atmosphere and friendly unpretentious staff, it serves good beer and delicious, reasonably priced and beautifully presented food. We had a really delicious meal, restaurant presentation and quality but pub atmosphere - couldn't ask for more. Every pub should be like this!

I've stayed at the Neeld a few nights a month for over a year. It's recently changed ownership so I thought a review may help.
The location is stunning, pub has great quality good value food and drinks with warm and friendly service.
Rooms are spotlessly clean with crisp white linen on comfy beds, fresh white towels, tea coffee and biscuits, decent toiletries and very important comfy pillows!
Breakfast is a treat with a great selection of fruits, juce, yoghurt and a freshly cooked Wiltshire English breakfast- locally sourced eggs, bacon and sausages and toast YUM.
I really enjoy my stays at the Neeld nothing is too much trouble for the hosts its a real home from home.

Three of us recently called in here for lunch on our way to Bristol as it’s reasonably close to the M4. It was good to see that the character of the pub hasn’t changed nor the good choice of food. The ham and cheese plowman’s on a wooden platter with warm ciabatta and trimmings was very good, as was the house pie and fish. The only comment i would make is that I have tasted much better chips elsewhere, but overall it did not detract from what was a good meal.

Had a fabulous 2 days here. Good place for a base and fab walks close by. Great hosts and staff, lovely room ( huge twin ) . The shower had brilliant water pressure- felt like a massage after my hike. Good brekkie and had dinner both evenings. Generous portions and tasty! Absolutely recommend

Nice Pub with rooms, sufficient for an overnight stay. Lovely thick fluffy towels, decent shower - small toiletries. Twin beds which were comfy with nice white linen & pillows. Tea, coffee in the room. Bit of an issue for Sunday breakfast when there was not sight nor sound of any staff! All guests sitting around the tables - 13 people in total but no sign of any cooking. After sitting for 20 mins (until 9.00am) one guest got up to find someone. Turned out they had overslept which is a bit of a problem if you are running a B&B......! So after an hour of waiting, we finally got tea, coffee and juice and the cooked breakfast was delicious. Maybe a new alarm clock needed upstairs in the staff quarters.

Visited with family and can’t believe how awful the one vegetarian option was. Some slabs of half grilled halloumi in a dry bun, no condiments, no salad, not even a slice of tomato. How the chef can call this a burger and confidently serve to paying clients is beyond me. All other dishes just looks pale and bland.

Five of us met after a long period apart so was delighted that we weren't rushed at all. The staff were very accommodating in seating our disabled friend, not making any fuss over it.
We all enjoyed the food and ambience and would definitely visit again.

The wife and I spent 3 nights at this picturesque village pub on the southern edge of The Cotswolds. The pub was great with good food and well kept beer, we ate a different dish every night and they were all fantastic.
The rooms were a nice size and the queen size bed was very comfortable. It’s a nice location for exploring the quaint villages of The Cotswolds and we can’t wait to return, all Covid restrictions were kept to and Charlie and the team were welcoming and professional throughout our stay.
And not a London based, gluten free vegan in sight....bliss.

We've been going to the Neeld arms after a local music festival (WOMAD) for over a decade and liked its quirky-ness and laisez-fair attitude. the food was great, the water hot and the beer good, perfect for post festival recovery. Last year it had changed hands but still met most of our needs and we rebooked in January and got confirmation. When we arrived on the Monday after the festival at about 11.30am, the side door was open but no one about (this actually was not unusual) , so we waited in the bar. At 12noon a rather scruffy young man turned up, expressed surprise at us being there and went to the loo.
On his return I told him we had a booking but initially he was a bit confused as to what room we were in and rang the landlord. I asked him to book us a table for food that evening and he said the Neeld Arms no longer did food on a Monday because "...the chef needs a day off." I told him this was very inconvenient and he told me I could Google other places locally to find food that evening.
After a discussion with the landlord by phone he said we could have room 1 but we couldn't occupy it until 5pm as this was the new "company policy". It was then 12.20pm.
I told him this was very inconvenient and I was very unhappy, he restated it was 'company policy' , that there was nothing he could do about it and he wandered away mumbling.
The whole point of our booking was to have a relaxing was to have a relaxing day before travelling back up north and this need had been met by the Neeld Arms since 2008.
I understand owners can run businesses as they please but this change had come without notice and was appallingly dealt with by the staff at the time. We went elsewhere and will not be booking again.

It is very much in rural Wiltshire so there is no public transportation.
