Detailed Reviews
Spacious bedrooms with ensuites for our party of 10 cyclists. Mattresses were super comfy and there were mainly king size beds.
We were able to wash our bikes & there was safe storage for them. Glenn & Carla were very accommodating hosts and served a large home cooked dinner with veges from the garden.
Great location and beautiful sunrise with the beach nearby & a cafe across the road.

This was a great place to stay. The hosts, Karla and Glen were very helpful, easy to get on with and knowledgeable about the area.
The room and bathroom were spotless and everything was in working order. The beds were very comfortable with luxury sheets and mattress topper for extra comfort. The room was warm and the heat pump was not needed.
Breakfast was provided. Cereal , fruit and yoghurt, toast and spreads. We arrived too late to find dinner elsewhere so Karla cooked a terrific dinner for us (at an extra cost -very reasonable!)
Overall a great place to stay and we hope to stay again when next in the area.
Highly recommended for accommodation on the Marlborough coast.

Kaikoura was a mass of No Vacancy signs, well i had guessed due to the Seafest festival that it would be and so searched the internet for accommodation within 20 or 30 Km's of kaikoura. We weren't interested in the Festival, instead we were interested in a place to sleep and eat, you see we were planing a very impromptu motor bike Trip around the Nelson Marlborough region and home again to Christchurch. The internet exsposed the Coastal lodge and with a phone call I was talking with Anne. If first impressions count then Anne had already scored ten out of ten. The planes for the trip were still in there infancy and so I asked would they mind if i checked the location with Zoe, my infamous partner and riding companion. when i phoned back to confirm I spoke with Grant who was just as friendly and helpful.
We arrived at Kekerengu just a little shy of 7pm and firstly we needed to fill our tummies, Grant had informed me that there was a delightful reasurant accross the road with panaramic veiws of the coastline but they closed around seven pm and so with that oiut of the way we rode on to the lodge. From the moment we turned into the lodge driveway the garage doors were opening and we road straight into Grant and Anne's garage. The evening that followed and indeed the nest morning was a treat only made possible by two fantastic hosts. There lodge is beautiful, clean and superbly comfortable, the most immaculate of beds waited the end of the evening. It never occurred that a bed this good would also yield to an equally as good breakfast, silly me, Grants homemade bread was a treat, Anne's homemade Rhubarb poached in orange juice a walk down my lane of childhood memories. This is hospitality second to none. I could write for another page but just visit for yourselves you won't be disappointed.
Thanks Grant and Anne for a never to be forgotten experience.

It is 6 years since my husband and I first stayed at Coastal Lodge and are so pleased that we did. Anne and Grant had just taken over. In fact, Anne was still in Christchurch finalising the sale of their house, so we were welcomed by Grant. We spent a great night there enjoying his and an American guest`s company so much that 2 years later we stayed with them again...twice. On our return visit this year we stayed at Coastal Lodge again twice. After so many visits we have every reason to tell you what a great place it is! The rooms are very clean and comfortable and nothing is too much trouble for the hosts. The aroma of freshly baked bread as you walk into the dining room gives you an appetite for the lovely breakfast you will receive. Coastal Lodge is in a great position across from the beach. Even though it is on a main road the rooms are very peaceful. Waking up to the beautiful song of the bellbirds is magical! We would recommend a stay at Coastal Lodge, you won`t be disappointed. Anne and Grant are great hosts.....Simply the best.

Coastal lodge is the place where you pull up to the house from a fantastic drive along a coastal road.
Your greeted with massive smiles and the good old kiwi love. You entre the door to smell the most exquisite aroma of amazing fine food cooked to perfection.
In the quiet coastal side of kekerengu this is the place to stop and put your feet up relax and read a book or have awesome chats.
Ann and grant will give you the most wonderful experience of being in kekerengu, New Zealand and have a fantastic time.
A must do in the book of stops 😀

I loved staying here! The room was spacious and beautiful with a wonderfully comfortable bed. The en-suite was very cute. Anne and Grant were the perfect hosts-kind, caring, friendly and just generally lovely people. I was made to feel at home. The meals were great including a huge breakfast! I hope to see you both again with my mum next year. Thank you once again for your amazing hospitality.

We spent two nights at Coastal Lodge when we first arrived in South Island. The accommodation was excellent. A very comfy bed and a great spa bath. The location was perfect, sea views and a beautiful drive up in to the wine region. Breakfast was wonderful and our hosts, Greg and Ann couldn't have been more welcoming. Definitely recommend.

When flying light sport aircraft we landed in a farmers paddock late in the afternoon and needed accommodation overnight.
Grant and Anne were absolutely amazing, the accommodation was incredible, a lovely quiet place to rest up to allow the wind to drop.
I would recommend this lodge to anyone who needed to spend some quiet time away. The food was amazing their garden a credit to them both.
