Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My group booked a weekend trip here nine months ago. We had come to Auckland from Wellington and Melbourne and needless to say, we were looking forward to our much-needed holiday.

On the day of our booking we were sent check in instructions and directions to the lodge. Later that afternoon as we were on our way, we received a message that our accommodation was double booked. We did not even get a phone call to tell us of this. After three attempts over the phone to find out what happened, we drove a distance to the lodge only to find another party had been given our accommodation.

No other accommodation on their property was suitable for our group of five people. We had to drive back to town to find phone reception so we could begin a frantic search for accommodation just to find somewhere to stay.

So stressful and just not what we needed. :(

I stayed for 2 nights at this beautiful retreat it is a hidden gem in West Auckland. Staying in the lodge was the break I needed and the experience I craved for. It is a place to reconnect with others. I stayed in the top floor and in this lodge are 2 other double rooms and a further 6 in the house behind. Just magical.
