Kelly and Geoff were very hospitable and helpful hosts. The bathroom shower was excellent, the beds comfortable and everything was very clean. Kelly provided a great Continental Breakfast Tray with fresh milk, cheese and ham in the fridge. The only thing that we would suggest would be to install fly screens so the windows can be opened at night to cool the room down as it does get quite hot at night when they are shut and screens would prevent any insects coming in!
I do not know why this is rated as excellent. After driving 340 km, I decided to go straight to motel rather than stop for coffee in town as the advertisement mentioned homemade baking to welcome me. I did not expect good coffee but it was terrible and not even a biscuit. Deluxe motels often offer plunger coffee. Fortunately I had brought my own cake as I could not have driven the 6 km back into town. The room is modern but not deluxe, quite small, no chairs from which to watch TV. There is a flimsy lift up table and 2 stools which are too high for comfort. There was just a note on door when I arrived. listing rooms and names. I would never have seen host if I had not knocked on the forbidding door to pay the next morning. The only good thing was the view but that is very easy to supply in this beautiful area of the country. I will be returning to Glenorchy next year but will find other accommodation and not waste my money on something which is not deluxe.…
A gorgeous spot, uninterrupted Glenorchy mountain views! A magic spot! The room was clean and warm (with a good heater!) with everything we needed! Great hosts too! Thank you for having us again, we'll be back!
This BnB was just perfect! I loved that it was a 5 min drive out of Glenorchy and you felt secluded in the mountains with perfect views from your bed in the morning with a cup of coffee. It is very close to the many day walks - I chose the Glacier Burn Track, Diamond Creek walk and Glenorchy Boardwalk. It was perfect to enjoy the spa in the evening under the starry night especially after the steep Glacier Burn Track walk! The room is well decorated, clean and warm with everything you would need. You can get a meal down at the local pub but I enjoyed just relaxing in my room with a nice platter and wine I brought with me. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a perfect weekend getaway!
A wonderful location at the end (top) of Lake Wakatipu. Sadly we only stayed one night but if we were to return to New Zealand this is definitely one place we'd love to spend more time. Such a perfect retreat from the hyperactivity of Queenstown, and yet close to many activities and attractions. The road from Queenstown to Glenorchy must be one of the most beautiful in the world, providing many iconic NZ views. It says 45 minutes but be prepared to factor in another 45 for all the stops you'll make taking photos! And you'll probably take a few more from your patio at Glenorchy Peaks.
