This was our second stay at Blanket Bay, we loved it so much the first time in 2021 we booked again for our 5th wedding anniversary. Staff are fabulous, very welcoming. We stayed in the Paradise Suite at the end again which is huge with a balcony and incredible views over the lake. We were able to launch our skis at Glenorchy and enjoy the glassy lake conditions that we had often over the 6 days we were there.
We love the grand great hall with all the schist, high ceilings and old beams that have been repurposed, very Central Otago.
I highly recommend getting a massage from Yumi, she is an excellent therapist! We loved the main pool and enjoyed it most days being in late February.
The year before we took a helicopter from Blanket Bay to Milford Sounds which was breathtaking. The jet boat ride up the river from Glenorchy was also a lot of fun.
We can’t wait to go back! Thank you from Monique & Steve

Blanket Bay is a luxury lodge with a high class service and a very easy access to most of the exciting activities to be found in that part of the Southern Island. The staff will arrange anything you ask for, (boat, helicopter, horse riding, etc) directly from the hotel and they won't surcharge you for doing that. The place is extremely quiet, peaceful, the view on the lake is one of the nicest we have ever seen and the house itself is extremely comfortable with a very warm and feel-good atmosphere, although I would have liked some more light in our room and bathroom. It was a suite on the ground floor and I guess the first floor suites are better since they probably get more light. Apart from that, it is really a top class hotel that deserves to be granted the highest recommendations

PERFECTION! I would give Blanket Bay as many stars as possible. The accommodations, the grounds, the food, the service and the staff were all exceptional. From the moment we arrived at the gate, we felt like cherished guests. Every need was met, and the staff members tended to any need or request. We so enjoyed the team: Tom, Andrew, Steph, David, Brooke, Paul, Charlotte, Rafael, etc. We also enjoyed all the activities and opportunities Blanket Bay affords, as well as conversing with the other fascinating guests. To cap it off, we loved meeting the owners, Tom and Pauline, who could not have been kinder or more welcoming. Blanket Bay feels like you’re in someone’s exquisite, yet warm and comfortable home with Michelin-starred cuisine and fabulous wines. We are counting the days until we can come back!

We just spent 3 amazing nights at Blanket Bay, and honestly, I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. The team here is something special - they went above and beyond for us. What really stood out was how they catered to everyone in our family. We all wanted different things from our stay, and somehow they managed to exceed everyone's expectations. They were especially wonderful with my mum, who has mobility issues. From the moment we arrived, they made her feel so welcome and comfortable - it really meant a lot to us. The food is genuinely world-class. Every meal was an adventure, and dining in the cave on our last night was absolutely magical. They really know how to make each meal special. The location is stunning, the service is perfect, and the attention to detail is incredible. This place has everything right - from the big things down to the smallest details. If you're wondering if it's worth it - yes, absolutely yes! Special shout-out to all the staff who made our stay unforgettable. You've set the bar impossibly high for everywhere else we'll stay!

Wow. Blanket Bay is a stunning property. The lodge facilities and the atmosphere are fantastic, but I must say the best thing about BBay is certainly the people. The staff from the moment you are welcomed by Steph and Anna to having a drink at the Bar with Tom(s), Sam and Enrique just make you feel so welcomed. They go above and beyond to make your stay spetacular. Head Chef Joseph had a fantastic 5 course dinner and special treats for our wedding anniversary. While you are having dinner the housekeeping team is preparing your room for a great night sleep...fresh flowers, chocolates, fireplace going are just some of the details about the spetacular service you will get a Blanket Bay. We cant wait to go back and we hope to see everyone then. Thanks team for a fantastic stay. Bruna & Thiago

I've stayed at some nice places all over the world and for the first time in NZ can truly say the service and accommodations at BB were world class. As noted in many of the reviews here the lodge, rooms and facilities are outstanding but the people are what make the difference. Friendly, attentive, helpful and attention to detail from start to finish. Damien (#1) opening the door and welcoming us, Tom, Tom, Damien#2, Sam, Marisol, Enrique everyone used your name and was so friendly. Never saw the chef but big props as the food from breakfast to each nights 5 course degustation (different every night) was just terrific. The food was superb, so much so I tapped out one night and just asked for a burger (no problem, a great burger appeared along with my wife's 5 course degustation menu...) The drinks and chat each night at 6pm was fun and a great way to chat with other guests and staff. High end price but worth every $$ imho.... Staff made super recommendations on the Heli trip and Dart river Jet,(both pickup from the lawn). Very impressed. We stayed for 4 nights and loved every one of them. Weather helped and was amazing but even if it was not we would have loved just a sit in the great room. Wife and I both had massages (Yumi) was also excellent. All in all nothing I could fault. Thanks for making our joint 50th BDay trip one to remember.

Blanket Bay lives up to its reputation as one of New Zealand’s top lodges. The lakeside position is stunning and the walks along the lakeshore from the lodge really lovely. The main lodge is on a big scale and its style is perhaps more what one would expect at a very high end lodge in the US rather than NZ. Our room was very comfortable and had lovely views of the lake. Dinner outside on the terrace in the evening sunshine was very special. The food was good, although not as exceptional as we experienced in some other places in New Zealand. Service levels were outstanding throughout our stay.

This hotel is truly outstanding. From the gracious welcome to the final moment, we loved every second of our two nights. We didn’t want to leave. Superb staff; beautiful lodge ambiance; lovely rooms; great atmosphere; fantastic views; beautiful dining spots; great food and a special cocktail gathering. Every effort was made to make us feel special including arrangement of trips and celebration of my husband’s birthday and our anniversary. We will definitely return if we can. If you go to the South Island do not miss this hotel

We stayed at Blanket Bay for the last 3 nights of our month long trip from the top of New Zealand to the South. And we certainly kept the best till last. The Lodge is magnificent, built in an Alpine style, with spectacular views over Lake Wakatipu and the soaring Southern Alps. The staff are lovely and can not do enough for you. Our room was large, but cozy too and extremely comfortable, with a private patio area that caught the sun in the afternoon. The gourmet food was 5 star, and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting other guests over pre-dinner drinks at the bar. We made use of the leisure facilities and even watched Lord of the Rings in the TV and games room! So apt as this magnificent Lodge sits so close to the filming location for Isengard. On our last morning, we were picked up from the front lawn and flew out to Milford Sound, for some of the most breath taking views of our complete holiday - the stuff of dreams!

We had one night at Blanket Bay - and it was absolutely fantastic. Fussed over with room and food - just a blissful getaway. The tranquil location makes you feel like you are worlds away from anywhere. Would love to return and I recommend to all.
