This place is awesome. The hosts were really friendly and helpful. Great accommodation, the fires are awesome, the food was amazing including the complimentary breakfast! And there are great facilities for cleaning and drying gear and clothes - which is especially useful if you have been on a mission in the hills). I highly recommend this place and will be back

A seamless, high quality lodge that covers every little detail from outdoor fire, friendly welcome to finishing touches in the bunk rooms (hot water bottle was a thoughtful touch!). The dinner ambience created a vibe that allowed enough chat with a curated play list. The team were fantastic hosts and our group loved it! Thanks !!

This is a life changing place providing mind blowing experiences for any level of adventurer. It’s hard to think of a single fault with any aspect of The Great Glenorchy Base Camp. Let’s not BS, our summit of Mt Earnslaw was both physically and mentally demanding. We could not have walked another step, literally collapsing back at the truck. (Jon, you know I’m not exaggerating)! But we were perfectly prep’d from our arrival to GY and celebrated with Doug’s warm welcome, Liz’s AMAZING cooking (capitals don’t do that justice) and Jon’s incredible prep and guiding throughout our mission. Big, very welcomed (and unexpected) cheers, celebration, congrats (and another amazing feed) with cold beer topped up before our glasses were empty, upon our return. The whole team at Base Camp is incredible and should be commended. Every aspect is spot in. It’s literally changed mine and my family’s lives. I can’t thank you enough guys, bring on the next mission (perhaps with more/some training from our side next time)! We’ll be back for more, 100%! Cheers,

Just great from start to finish. We created a dozen lifetime memories in 3 action packed days. The intimate feel you get from the camp and the small in number huge in camaraderie team made this a special experience that you just can't get from big corporate tours. The access to an amazing wilderness area was icing on the Glenorchy cake.

"Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"…Glenorchy Base Camp. Two day sub-alpine hike. What a challenge! All thanks to Doug, Liz & the incredible team at The Great Glenorchy Alpine Base Camp. What an experience, incredibly challenging but certainly an achievement. Loved every minute… Excellent accommodation facilities, deliciously hot showers & sauna, attentive service, excellent hosts and sublime meals.... thanks Liz!! Can’t recommend them highly enough.

We absolutely loved our stay here. We were pleasantly surprised with the authenticity of the lodge and the accommodation - the photos just do not reflect how special it is. Doug and Liz were incredible hosts, making a very warm and family-like environment. We had one of the best meals of our lives gathered round the dining table with the other guests, then toasting marshmallows on the outdoor fire. We made friends with another guest who we are still in contact with now. Our cabin was everything we dreamed of and more with its own log burner, heated underflooring in the bathroom and a very cosy vibe with the wind blowing outside! We even woke up to fresh snow capped mountains. Our only regret is staying for just the one night - we will 100% be back, booking mountaineering excursions whilst we are there too,

We had a wonderful evening staying here. The rooms are so cosy and lovely having your own fireplace. Great food and company. Love the set up and as a local from Queenstown we can't wait to go back. I would highly recommend a visit to Glenorchy and staying at this location.

Amazing alpine experience! Basecamp is cool and so comfortable, food is delicious, hosts vey attentive. Loved the alpine trekking experience with their knowledgeable guides. Learnt so much. Highly recommend the adventure.
