Japan, the alternative winter sports world. Sahoro is a place of refinement, in full Japanese style. The microclimate that reigns over the island of Hokkaido, which has less rainfall and is cooler than the rest of Japan, ensures optimal snow cover for an intense skiing experience. And after all that skiing, revival is guaranteed, with the choice between Ofuro, traditional Japanese hot baths, and Canadian outdoor baths. Indoors you will find a heated swimming pool, jacuzzi and saunas.

Just completed a perfect holiday family holidays at Club Med Sahoro. The close personal attention from Resort GM Julien Lettraz and his fantastic G.O. team made the holidays one to remember for years to come.

Loved the resort precisely because it is not a large resort, which gave this Club Med resort a very cosy family village feel. By the end of the trip we probably met and spoke to every G.O. and even got to know other guest in the village. A small village is the exact description of this resort.

The rooms are good sized, especially for Japan, and can easily and comfortably fit 3people, Rooms have been recently renovated. Ample USB power points conveniently located around the room. Appreciate the separate closets so jackets/ ski gear and other clothes can be stored separately. Check in and check out was smooth and quick thanks to Oppa Chris from Korea who brought us to our rooms and Yuzu who helped with Japanese translation with my driver. Also thanks to Mibin and team great work with the Housekeeping. Rooms faultless, everything clean and begs were large.

Perfect for families with children. The Mini-Club allows the missus and i to once again be a couple without having to worry about the little ones well-being, the Mini-Club G.Os takes care of all of this for us. The kids loved it too as they met other kids of similar age to participate in the planned activities with. Of course some parent choose to have their children "with them" instead of mini club, but parents should more closely supervise these children when not under the care of Mini Club GO. My kids loved the Mini Club GOs and are still talking about them after the trip. They insist I mention some of the Mini club GOs in this review - Carol, Yuko, Azaria, Sam, Rama.

The food was fantastic and we could eat as much as we wanted. We even had Hokkaido Crab legs for dinner on the first night - also all you can eat. Fantastic and friendly restaurant G.Os will even cook the steaks and lambs to the done-ness of your preference. Global fare from Turkish Baklava, to Thai Tomyum to Western Steaks and of course Japanese fares, are all available and Menu changes daily so we're always looking forward to the next meal. Ample choices means there is always something for everyone. Special thanks to Dogan the F&B Manager from Turkey, Chef Cheah from Malaysia, Chef Charles from Congo and many others in the Restaurant team who made me eat so much I gained at least 10 pounds. Tamara from the PR team(I think) was always smiling and always busy seating guest and helping clear the tables.

There is a nice cosy bar which is the centre of activity at Club Med. After Skiing, after every meal, after the show in the theater, everyone heads to the bar for drinks and to chat. Free flow of drinks and the Bar team makes super cocktails.. Pro-Tip - ask them to make you their favorite cocktail! Thanks to Adi, Melody, Gita, Dillip and Ray for keeping my family and I well hydrated. Loved the Umeshu cocktails Melody makes.. Crazy signs are also held at the bar and Loki does a great job spinning music that I still know the words to.

The resort is rather remote, with Shintoku being about 15mins drive away. There are vending machines for drinks and other consumables around the village. There is also a boutique where ski wear can be purchased if you choose not to rent it. G.O Shakilla really hit it off with my wife and was really knowledgeable about Club Med and happy share great funny stories from her 16 years as a GO.

There are daily shows in the theater. We were really amazed with the professional quality of the shows. The dance routines were on point timing wise and performed with energy, while the acrobatics (circus elements) were almost Cirque de Soleil standard albeit understandably with the addition of safety mats to make sure the performers stay safe while they perform really fast paced body contorting actions. The choreography is lead by Oman while the acrobatics was led by Top (we met Top in Club Med Cheating when we visited last year - so nice to see a familiar face). Also shout out to Amanda a new GO in the events team for the fabulous work behind the scene and for sending us off when we departed the resort.

The snow was late this year, and Club Med sales team did contact us a few days prior to our visit to inform us of the snow condition and asked if we wanted to change dates to a week later which we did. Thankfully it snowed enough for 2 lifts to open by the time we arrived and a third lifts was opened during out stay. Not an experienced enough skier to comment about the snow quality but there was sufficient snow to keep us all happy sking. Ski equipment can be rented at the resort but we rented our own equipment from outside Club Med at Amuse Rental for half the price. We noticed the ski equipment at Club Med looked shiny and new. We heard that all the ski equipment was refreshed last season. William from Canada and the Ski tech team was really helpful to find me a ski helmet with a Go Pro attachment.

The highlight of the holiday has to be the Ski team. Both Ski and snowboarding lessons are available and were conducted twice a day. Skiing or snowboarding lessons are included together in the price of the stay and ski lift passes are included in the package. Ski instructors are qualified instructors and come from all over the world with instructions in multiple languages available. Ski lessons classes size depends on the number of guest that are at the same skiing ability levels. If there are many skiers in the same class they just split the class so that each class is about 8-12 skiers max. Noticed class sizes gets smaller at the higher experience levels with skiing class sizes larger than snowboarding classes.

Instructors are rotated, so may not always follow the progression of the student skiers as they improve and move up in class. Most are excellent experienced instructors who are able to spot weaknesses or mistakes and suggest improvements. Always very very supportive and patient with the guest. Crazy energy levels as you can see some instructors repeatedly running back up the slope to help a student. While we were there there were around 35 instructors which we were told is fewer than the usual compliment of instructions, probably due to it being early in the season and potentially stricter Covid immigration challenges. So many fantastic instructors, but our special thanks to Charlie Butterworth, James Formby, Emma, Dodo, Barney, Ben and both Tom (there were quite a few Toms) who were our instructors during our visit. Over the 4days of lessons, we were able to progress from never trying on skies to comfortably doing parallel turns - well most of us.. During meal times those instructors that we didn't have the pleasure of being in their class also were helpful in giving skiing tips and we saw instructors of other classes shouting improvement suggestions at students from another class as these students skied past them down the slopes. Fantastic to see instructors working as a team to help all the student guests regardless of what classes they are from. Probably because almost every skier on the ski slope was a guest from Club Med. Felt like it was a private Club Med ski slope.

Our one and only peeve during our visit was that the instructors patiently waited for guest who have signed up that are late to class.. I noticed some guest only start gearing up to ski AFTER the lessons were supposed to have started - this results in everyone else who was on time waiting for these guest to arrive so that lessons can start. Additionally, some guest insist on joining a higher level class when they are clearly not at the same level, while some instructors are more firm and send these guest to classes more appropriate to their skill level, other are "kinder" and allow the guest to continue with the class and provide more time with these skiers to try get them up to speed at the expense of the others in the group and slowing down the rest in the group.

This review cannot be complete without an attempt to name everyone who made such a wonderful holiday possible. A big thank you goes out to Zsofi, Narumi, Katie, Yugo (world champion Slack Liner), Dylan, Micheal, Peter, Tomaz, I'm sure we may have accidentally forgotten and left out a few more names.

Finally, the great GO team is a testament to the leadership of CDV Julien Lettraz. From the moment we arrived till the moment we left, Julien was EVERYWHERE in the village, from checking the ski slopes before it is opened, to mini club (I've visited Club Med many times and I've never seen a CDV in Mini Club), to the restaurant at every meal time (NEVER EATING himself), at the reception, at the bar, Morning, afternoon or night, turn a corner and you'll see Julien! AMAZING. Really hands on CDV.

A BIG THANK YOU to all the Club Med GO and GE team for making our holiday such a memorable one. We hope to visit again soon.

My fifth year in a row at Club Med Sahoro and this must have been the best year yet - despite the dismal snow conditions. The staff are becoming like old friends. I want to make special mention of Niko, a Bulgarian ski instructor, who is such a pleasure to be around and great at explaining ski technique, avalanche profiling, meteorology, you name it - he probably knows it. I hope he returns next year because I learnt so much from him and I now have a great respect for the Bulgarian ski method!

It was great to see Tarl the bartender again - probably one of the best bartenders I've ever met who knows so much about his craft. I really enjoyed his special blends he would serve up after a day of skiing, late afternoon. I appreciate when people take pride in their work, like Tarl and Niko.

Thanks to Ollie and Finn, who took great care of our kids, out in the snow and at meal times too. In previous years, it seems ski/snowboard instructors were changed on a daily basis, which I never liked because there was no continuity in instruction. I understand it's difficult to manage all guests' requests. So this year, we were very happy that most of the time, we got the instructor we'd requested.

The buffet again was great and whoever made the pizza needs to be a permanent fixture because it was the best pizza I've had in years. The family really enjoyed watching Cameron in the shows. Brendan, head of village, is hilarious. The only drawback was the shows seemed a lot tamer this year. My kids really missed skits, such as street fighter and kill the chicken. I'm sure it's difficult to please everyone, but if we react to every complaint about every show, are we going to be left with bland, forgettable entertainment? I wonder how many people have complaints about certain skits, compared to the thousands of others who enjoyed the show but said nothing?

The rooms are renovated and dry lockers are now provided for each room to store all gear. I hope the onsens are next on the renovation list and more hair dryers will be provided in there.

This is a great resort for families and we always felt 100% assured that our children were safe while having free rein to explore.

This was my first all inclusive resort experience and Club Med Sahoro was above and beyond what I was expecting. The number of guest were down considerably compared to the norm (due to Coronavirus) however the food was varied and delicious, the entertainment was engaging and staff were extremely friendly and helpful all over the resort. The ski lockers are secure (locked with your wristband) and close to door to access the slopes. The Sahoro ski resort has a good mixture of terrain and having the lessons included in your stay is a fantastic bonus. All the facilities are within a very short walking distance inside and the recent renovations really make the place shine. Whilst the pool wasn't open during my stay, I will 100% be back for another winter in the future.

We were a big group, with 4 families overlapping our stay over a period of 10+ days.
Birkan (manager of restaurants) did a excellent and exceeding our expectations. He helped to reserve tables for our group and someone you must to know! We followed him from Club Med Tomamu ( in dec 2018). Kudos to him. He is always busy but still manage to meet all our requests.
All the restaurants and bar staff who worked tirelessly to make sure all guests are comfortable.
Joy Young was good in helping us in our room upgrade when we found our original room too small ( uograde comes at a cost)l. I think she was empowered ( which is an excellent characteristic)
Lastly a must try is their white chocolate bread, at lunch times. Didn’t help my waistline but January is for dieting!
The standard rooms are a bit small so if you like space, do choose the tatami room. We are a family of 3 with a young daughter.

I have always heard about the ClubMed experience and indeed it was a wonderful ClubMed experience for myself and my family and friends. It was made better with the snowboarding instructors and GOs we encountered. The rooms were big and comfortable. The resort was very clean.

Button welcomed us on the first day and was professional and clear in her briefing.

I met Miltos as my snowboarding instructor for my first day and he made it such a great experience. He was patient and generous with his tips and gave me so much confidence in my riding.

The next few days that followed, I had Cameron who was a charismatic, encouraging and amazing snowboarding instructor.

We met up with Greg, Justin, Shamay and Ronex who were Ski/Snowboarding instructors for our group and they were professional in what they did and were always ready to assist us and help us.

The Mini Club was also amazing. The GOs, Jasmine, Fiona, Gauthier and the entire team were always welcoming and friendly although my daughter was shy and very selective of the activities she took part in but they never turned her away and always welcomed her. After their events/performances, i have noticed the GOs washing the toys at night and getting ready for the next day.

The Ski instructors at the Mini Club were also so pleasant.
We met Sonny, who willingly came up to comfort my daughter who was crying and tried to get her to participate.
We also met Finn, who was not my daughter's instructor but who noticed my daughter crying during lessons and every time he passes her in the resort, he would say "hi" to her. Simple gestures like that mean a lot.

Big thank you to the entire Restaurant crew. Birkan, Vincent, Subi, Charles and the pastry chef who dealt so patiently with my daughter's dairy allergy. She actually had so many options prepared specially for her.

Lastly, in view of the Covid-19, it was nice to see that sanitisers were placed around the resort.

The only down side i had was the Dryers at the laundry area that didn't seem to do the work. Took 4-5 cycles of drying which amounted to more than an hour for a small load to dry.

Overall, kudos to the entire team at ClubMed for all the hardwork and effort they put in to make it such a wonderful experience for the guests. General Manager, Brendan and the other Managers were amazing and so hands-on, always around to ensure a great experience. They have done a great job leading this entire ClubMed Sahoro team. Thank you so much!

My wife and I were part of a large group which incl children from Newcastle NSW Australia. Sahoro was brilliant in all aspects - location ski in ski out, accommodation; food (ah! the food); bar; entertainment and services. Everywhere we went we were warmly greeted by all staff from the GM down and who all went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. Special mention to ski instructors Zlatan and Greg who always made our day challenging and fun whilst keeping our safety paramount; Soy, Guest Relations Mgr, who always went out of way to greet us and say hello and the Bar staff who looked after our large group second to none We particularly liked the special little touches add on's like a golliwog jumping out from under a cloche at lunchtime! GM Brendan has a exceptional team behind him. Only negative are the exorbitant charges for ski hire ($92 per day for out performance skis); photo date ($25 per image); Spa and Boutique. Bring along your own skis and boots if you can!

We are a family with 2 kids under 10. This is the 1st time we join the Club Med & the service exceeds my expectation. Saharo is not a big resort but with many facilities to offer for adults and kids. The disappointing thing is the ofuro is too hot that i cannot even dip my foot in. Also, i am confused with the heating in the room which later i found out the red button means heat is on while green means cold air. The heat temp is too warm & dry for the room. The menu at the restaurant changes everyday. I am happy to stick with buffet for every meals which i never feel tired of. The food is so fresh & refilled quickly. The staff are nice & always there to greet you with a warm welcome. As for the ski school, the instructors observe your progress and rate you so you won't be in the wrong class. I was managed to ski down the slope in the 3rd day where i am satisfied enough as a beginner. My kids do enjoy very much the ski lessons too. I will come back to Saharo for sure.

A huge thank you to restaurant manager Birkan, he was absolutely amazing and great fun! In particular a special thanks goes to chefs Subì and Charles for making our trip to Club Med Sahoro easy and delicious. We really struggle to find any gluten free food in Japan (ramen/udon/soba all contain wheat, sushi contains barley vinegar and everything else has soy sauce (wheat) in it! But we can safely say all our meals were really well catered, free of gluten and varied thanks to Birkan, Subì and Charles.
The resort itself is on the old side but our tatami room was stylishly and thoughtfully renovated with lots of storage. Our towels were replaced twice a day which was a welcome bonus.
There wasn’t much powder but skiing the groomed runs was great fun and it’s truly ski in/out with good locker space. Night skiing was close and convenient compared to Club Med Tomamu. Thanks again to the whole team for all their help!

My family has been to various Club Med resorts over the past 10 years. Having spent the last 2 winters at Club Med Tomamu, we decided to try Sahoro as it came recommended by many friends.

Overall, it was an excellent trip!

Special commendations to Chef de Village Brendan, he has such amazing energy and a great sense of humour!

We felt that compared to Tomamu, the standard of ski and snowboard instruction was higher at Sahoro. Ski instructor Neff is fantastic! She gave very good advice, held high standards, and yet made lessons enjoyable. I also had lessons with Kaji and Zlatan, both were also wonderful!

Ski instructor Nikko was my son’s Star 6 instructor, he really enjoyed his time with Nikko. Nikko gave them challenging things to do, yet made sure the kids stayed safe while having loads of fun! My 2 younger children also loved Matt and Patrick at the Kids Club.

My husband commends Snowboarding instructor Sharmay, she gave excellent instruction that was easy to understand and improved his snowboarding ability.

Thank you also to Soy, who was the guest relations officer assigned to my family. She is friendly and prompt in answering queries.

Sahoro is a smaller resort than Tomamu, and recently refurbished. The only small drawback is the lack of interconnecting rooms, and the 2 Junior Family Superior Rooms that we booked for 5 of us were small compared to the Interconnecting Triple rooms that we had in Tomamu. My children are aged 13, 9 and 7 years, so it was a little squeezy in the rooms. We barely had space to open our luggages or hang up our ski gear. But despite the space limitation, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and had all the necessary amenities.

We had a really wonderful stay, and enjoyed the nightly entertainment (great effort by all the performing GOs, very well-organized by the GO in-charge of entertainment, sorry I can’t remember his name, he is one funny guy!)

A huge thank you to one and all at Club Med Sahoro :)

We went back to Club Med Sahoro for a second time during the CNY Holidays. We started off with a bit of a hiccup since our flight from Singapore to Tokyo was delayed and we had to take a later flight to Obihiro. On the way, I dropped the Club Med Singapore office an email at askme.sg@clubmedcustomerservice.com that our flight was delayed, but evidently that email address is not tracked real time since there was no car waiting for us at Obihiro airport. A quick call to the resort later, this was quickly sorted out, and within 15 mins a car arrived to pick us up. Then it was onward and away to the resort. On arrival, the check in formalities were efficiently handled and we had very similar double rooms as last time, though I think the view this time (on the opposite side) is a bit better. Arriving later in the ski season, the snow was better ( but apparently less than expected for this time of the year) and most of the chair lifts were operating. Then it was just 4 days of skiing. Had Ce Ce as my instructor for the group lessons for 3 out of the 4 days and found her to be very good. Her style of coaching was well suited to my style of learning. Very precise instructions for each student with feedback on execution. The kids did snowboarding and everyone was very happy with their progress. Outside skiing, the staff was very helpful as usual. Since my birthday fell within this holiday period, they organised a birthday cake for me which was a pleasant surprise. All in all, am very satisfied and have already booked for next year.

Hi Mr ATan, You can book ski hire after checking in. However if you plan to ski the same day as you arrive, I recommend you prebook ski hire. In December is peak season but I think the resort does have plenty of skis and snowboards for hire. With the people you are travelling with I suggest booking transfer from Chitose Airport to Sahoro with Club Med. Depending on the time you arrive in Sapporo eg. at night, a taxi from the train station or airport may be hard to find and require prebooking. The trip from the Airport to Sahoro takes 2 hours. I don't know about the luggage transfer services and whether the cost of this and the taxi from the Airport to resort is cheaper than taking the coach with Club Med. Hope this is helpful !
