I thought the days of smoke-filled, stinky hotel rooms were over. Apparently not. We were not asked about smoking/non-smoking, but were put into a room stinking of smoke, and an ashtray on the table. Couldn't sleep, and stank of smoke all next day. Really disappointed as I'm a fan of Ibis Budget, but not sure I'll risk it again. Warm welcome from the staff, all very efficient, but totally over-shadowed by the smoking. Maybe not again, Ibis, maybe not again

The rooms were good for budget hotel - clean and compact but the attitude of one member of staff was rude and unhelpful. We were turfed out of the seating area into the car park one evening and ordering breakfast in the morning was an imposition for the said staff member. Would not return to that hotel again.

I like the simplicity of the hotel chain but the attitude of the woman when we asked to book breakfast was rude and offensive and we felt as though we were intruding and not paying guests, I use this chain a lot but never this one again

This hotel was as expected with the exception of the bed. It was clear that the mattress had not been replaced in a while - fairly thick at the edges but hard and thin in the middle. Sleeping on top of the duvet did not help.
In all other respects the hotel was ideal as a stopover. It was clean with a friendly and helpful person on reception. As we did not fancy the next door McDonald's, he offered to direct us to reception although instead we opted to use the microwave in reception.
However, we had been used to a standard of bed with the Accor brand, regardless of the budget level and this hotel did not meet the minimum in that regard. The shower was function but was definitely the smallest that we had ever seen.

I was on a car trip around Europe and booked mainly with Ibis and Ibis Budget hotels. On the 10th of September we checked-in at Ibis Budget Villenave D’Ornon near Bordeaux. We paid 57Eur which included the supplement for our precious pet dog. The male member of staff was very nice and pleasant at reception.

When we climbed the stairs up to the room we could smell this strong sewerage smell, but we just assumed it was due to the age of the hotel and the pipes being old.

When we got to the room the smell became more pronounced, especially in the bathroom, so we flushed the toilet and opened the window in the hope that when we returned from Bordeaux the smell would have passed.
We had a fantastic day in Bordeaux and around 10pm we returned to the hotel. We wanted to get showered and ready for the next day as we wanted to leave for Paris around 5:30am to avoid all the traffic.

I started taking a shower but, the water wasn’t draining down the shower plug hole, and instead it was overflowing over the shower tray and onto the bathroom, bedroom and hallway floor. The water was EVERYWHERE ! I was so stressed!!!

I immediately got dressed and went downstairs, but there was nobody in reception overnight, so I used the intercom and spoke to a nice lady in the "call centre" who contacted the hotel manager.

The lady said there was nothing she could do, and when I said “where am I meant to sleep” she said I would have to place towels and bedding on the floor and sleep in the same room. All I wanted was another room, a clean room which is what I paid for, but there was nothing the lady on the intercom could do.

I was extremely stressed. My partner couldn’t have a shower and my dog had nowhere to sleep as all the floor was completely wet. We tried to make the best we could with the blankets and towels we had, but still, we had to sleep in a room smelling of disgusting sewerage water and my dog was starting to become unwell.

We had a horrible night of broken sleep, we barely slept at all. The next morning we waited until 7:30am and I went to reception and asked for the manager.
This very arrogant lady came up to the desk and said she was the manager. When I asked if she spoke English she said NO. This is absolutely absurd!!! You have signs in English all over the hotel, the receptionist that did the check in the day before spoke perfect English but yet the HOTEL MANAGER said she didn’t speak any English… I don’t believe this is true.
I used an app on my phone to translate our problem, which the manager was of course already aware of, and asked for a refund. The manager took one very dismissive look at me and shook her head and said NO. When I challenged her as to why, she said “c’est les regles” it’s the rules.
I have never come across such a rude and arrogant person in all the years I’ve stayed in many hotels, not only your budget ones but also many of the others in the Accor group. This so-called manager is not suited to her position, has no compassion for guests whatsoever and didn’t even have the decency of apologising ! The only person in accor that apologise was the lady on the intercom, who obviously couldn’t do anything else as she sits in a central location answering calls.

As a consequence we didn’t leave Bordeaux till the late morning, meaning that we got caught up in all the traffic. Because we had a terrible night of broken sleep we also had to stop a few times to have naps, in order to finish our drive to Paris, as well as the fact that our beautiful dog spent the whole day vomiting from licking the floor in the room which was covered in dirty water !

We didn’t get to Paris until the evening on the 11th of Semptember and as a consequence we missed out on a whole day in Paris. We paid extra money to stay in another Ibis (71.8eur) so that we could stay near Paris. If we had known, we could’ve stayed in a cheaper hotel further away from Paris.

I am still trying to get compensation, the only thing Accor have offered so far is a very standard copy-paste apology, and only offered a refund of 57EUR - absolutely no compensation for my dog being ill, for the stress we suffered and the day we missed in Paris as a consequence. Worst experience of my life! Never again!!!

I stayed in a family room with my husband and 7yr old son for the night. The place was spotless. The room was compact but for a convenient one night stay it was ideal. The staff were friendly and helpful. The cold buffet breakfast was great. Would definitely recommend.

I was in this room with two friends. It was perfectly priced, very clean, comfy beds-even the little bunk bed was big enough for an adult. At the hotel we found helpful staff and a nice little cafe area. We walked everywhere as it was located across the street from the wall. We found great restaurants very close by.

Competent and friendly receptionist on arrival. Unfortunately, that was the best thing about our stay! We have stayed in Ibis hotels many times but found this one below the standard we have experienced in the past. The ensuite bathroom was small but modern, with reasonable towels and very acceptable. The room and the bathroom were clean. Less positively, the room was very basic; the mattress was hard, the pillows thin and the bed was generally very uncomfortable. The room was overheated and the in room air con control didn't seem to work as we couldn't change the temperature with it. The room was on the 1st floor, and overlooked the hotel car park and a very busy road - we found it very noisy all night. Made worse by the 24 hour McDonalds restaurant next door which was also very noisy with vehicles coming and going all night. The night we stayed, there was also a group of students in the hotel and they were very noisy - in and out of their rooms, calling on friends in adjacent rooms and running along the corridors. We went down to reception to request their help in asking the students to be quieter but the reception was unmanned so no assistance available. Finally, when we booked the hotel via the IBIS website, we noted that the restaurant served a reduced menu on Saturday evenings - we assumed this to mean table de hote or even just soup and sandwiches. However, on arrival just before 8pm, we found the restaurant closed and there was no food available. The room rate we paid was about the same as we have paid in the past for stays in much better Ibis hotels in France and about twice as much as we would have paid if we had stayed in the F1 hotel a few miles away.

Slightly better than expected. Clean, tidy and no noise. Would recommend and definitely use again. The location was immediately ff the motorway and was easy to find. The security of the complex was high and especially the car park. The closes restaurant was a McDonald's, but this wasn't as good. I would suggest you take a short car journeh and get some better food.

Very clean; simple; functional; 24/7 reception; use of microwave; very helpful receptionist; all that I expect from Ibis Budget. Excellent value. A little difficult for me to find at first given several roundabouts.

Hi, we didn't actually go in because we were travelling on to Carcassone, but we did see buses for the centre from the hotel and Reception said it was about a 15min bus journey - she also advised that it was probably best to leave the car at the hotel and get the bus in. So, although I can't vouch for it personally, that is what we were told. Best wishes - ! SollyWM
