Dlaaya is a luxury bed and breakfast in the green hills above Playa Coronado. Beautifully appointed villas in a tropical setting welcome you with stunning views over Panama's gold coast and the rolling hills. A perfect location to explore Panama's attractions or to relax by the pool and let the sun warm your sole. The included breakfast and afternoon tea will leave you feeling content.

A remarkable welcome by the owner, and all the time attention to every wish you may have in order to make the stay in Dlaaya enjoyable. A tranquil place with only 2 rooms (better say little houses) that makes you feel in "your top-of-the-mountain" holiday retreat. The very luxe is the relaxing atmosphere, the peaceful surroundings and the fresh air blowing over the pool terrace. Clean and cozy, offering tasteful simple healthy meals and excellent wines to pare the food. The pictures show the reality... Imagine ! Wish I could be back soon.

Our plan was to get away for a week of warmth and relaxation. Dlaaya exceeded our expectations. Perfectly situated with a spectacular view of the hills and Panama's coast, we divided our time between relaxing by the lovely pool at Dlaaya and exploring the country side. Tara and Paul do a fabulous job of providing for their guests' comfort and making them feel at home. The food at Dlaaya is delicious. Tara is an accomplished and creative cook. The breakfasts are amazing. Everything is fresh and local and there's lots of it, but the dinners are wonderful as well. If you stay at Dlaaya, you should make a point of having at least one dinner in - especially if coconut crusted corvina is on the board. I cannot praise Dlaaya highly enough. We enjoyed our stay there tremendously.

My time at Dlaaya was wonderful. Everything was very clean, well maintained, the pool was sparkling and the service was wonderful. The only complaint that I have is they don't publish their recipes. If you decide to go, make sure you bring everything you'd like in the way of snacks, books, booze etc for your time there as they are a bit of a ride to town. Yes, they have a bar and the prices are reasonable, and the meals are superb, but if you forgot something, it's hard to motivate yourself to leave. Highly recommend!

Based on other reviews on TA, and website photos, we had a different experience staying at Dlayya. Our new innkeepers did not deliver anything close to the other reviewer's stays here. From the language barrier - we were not prepared for French, the cold, sad breakfasts, to the not cleaning our room at all... no wiping the bathroom or fresh towels,no soap, or trash removal (we stayed 4 nights). I was sold this to be a "luxury" B&B. This was not luxury in any way. Nice pool, but the furniture around looked old and dirty, as did the cushion on our outdoor day bed. This place has so much potential, but disappointed us greatly in the entire experience.

We booked a villa for Easter Weekend. When we arrived the hosts tried to push us into a room that was not a villa, and not represented in any photos online (see photo). We offered several solutions to either stay only 1-night in the villa that was represented in the sale to move out in time for the guests arriving the following night, or to move the other guests into the room that they claimed was a villa (this room was the farthest thing from private: attached to their house, smelled like cat urine, and had the common dining area at our door). They refused to negotiate any solution and became aggressive to the point we were concerned it would transpire into physical altercation. This was by far our worst experience with customer service ever in any industry. No class!

I can recommend someone to staying at Dlaaya for perhaps one evening. At least go and see the place, and drink in the gorgeous views. It's an interesting location. The pool is beautiful and soothing, and you'll either have to yourself or only share with one other if both huts are occupied. The huts (and pool) are all concrete, which is interesting unto itself. The bed is comfortable and each hut has a private outdoor shower on one side and an outdoor eating area on the other. If you choose eat at Dlaaya ($25 additional per day), you're given the option to eat near the house or at your hut.
That said, as the other recent reviewer said, the place is not as expected. It was sold by the original Canadian builders in October of 2016 to a French family. This family speaks little-to-no English or Spanish, so while they are good hosts, there are definitely linguistic barriers to overcome. (I used my rudimentary French to make both our lives easier.) The food they serve is very tasty but is French, which is not likely what you went to Panama to find.
As of this writing they had no credit card machine, so I had to unexpectedly drive down to Coronado, take out $500 (!!) in cash to pay my bill, and drive all the way back. Not good service and it disrupted my schedule as they did not warn me of this until check-out time.
Also be wary that you are in the true countryside here. Dlaaya is surrounded by farms which host roosters. They crow 24/7. Not an exaggeration! At first it's quaint but by the 3rd day it was driving me up the walls.
For some reason they also turn off the internet during the day so if you need it to plan trips around Panama as I did, you might find yourself unable to do so. And even when it's on, it doesn't reach the rooms, so you have to sit out in the buggy pool area to load your maps and do your research, getting bitten the whole time.
If Dlaaya were a budget stay, most of these issues could be overlooked. But it's marketed and priced as luxury and as such they should not be accepted.

A lovely spot. We had a short break in Panama. We went directly from the airport to Dlaaya (about 90 mins drive) and stayed there for 2 nights before visiting the city for the remainder of our time. The property is in an isolated location (the hosts did offer us car rental) but we wanted to relax and take it easy. They helped us organize a private transfer from the airport to the city.
If you want to relax, like we did, then there is no need to leave the property. There is a fab infinity pool, small bar, stunning views and comfortable accommodation. There are just 2 rooms at present so you feel Iike you have the place to yourself! The family live on site and are happy to help.
Breakfast is served on your terrace. It consisted of freshly baked goods, fruit and an egg dish. We also had lunch and dinner there. The food was home cooked and delicious.
The rooms are stunning with outdoor showers. They're not cheap but are well worth a treat!!!! Contact the owners directly for a better rate than on booking.com.
We felt relaxed, looked after and hope to return again! Thank you!

We stayed for 3 nights with our two young children in the large suite which had plenty room to fit our playpen and more. Our stay was amazing to say the least. The outdoor shower fully private was a really neat experience. I slept really good too as the king matress was very comfortable. The view is outstanding looking out over the mountains. I loved sitting on the patio sipping my coffee in the am = very peaceful. Breakfast was delicious every morning and different as well each day and paired with flavourful fresh fruit. This stay was exactly what we needed... Peaceful relaxation. Tara and Paul were also very helpful with suggestions on attractions to visit that suited our family. Dlaaya is also not far from restaurants and beaches just a short drive away. We rented a car but saw a bus come often. We would definitely like to go back one day when we return to panama.

My boyfriend and I searched the entire Panamanian Pacific coast for a bed and breakfast as intimate, sleek, and peaceful as Dlaaya, but turns out, Dlaaya is the only one that fit the bill. The villas are conveniently located off the Pan-American Highway, but nestled in the mountains providing an amazing view our private patio. AMAZING breakfast + mountain valley view + private patio = most peaceful, delicious combination that you will never want to leave. We ate dinner there two nights, as well and it was the best decision. Tara cooks with local ingredients using chocolate, fruit, and vegetables to make and jazz up local staples. Everything is fresh and healthy, so no guilt there! You can feel good about staying at Dlaaya, too, as Paul and Tara, the owners, lead awesome initiatives in the local community to create clean water reserves and furthering education! You will not be disappointed. We will be back!

Hi there,
It will be summer, so expect it to be very dry. I was at Dlaaya when it was spring and everything was green and luscious. I am told that in the summer, the greenery will be mostly brown.
The summer is generally quite breezy which cools the air down a bit, but expect 31-34C in the day, cooling down to 24C or so at night. It's well worth it though and the pool is awesome!
There are more places to choose from in the Playa Coronado area.
