Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

The hotel consists of several joined Swiss chalets build and decorated with good taste and coziness. A very nice and big garden with a flower pond and swimming pool adds to the outstanding views into the mountain scenery.
Sauna, heated internal pool, bar, restaurant and ski room provide everything you would expect from a very good hotel.
Breakfast and dinner are of top quality. A very balanced daily dinner menu caters to most guests and breakfast includes great fresh breads, preserves, cold cuts, eggs, juices etc etc.
The owners of this hotel have decided their business model is quality written in capital letters. They deliver exactly what they intend. Maintenance is impecable, linens, furniture, carpets and floors all of first quality.
We had a suite consisting of 2 average sized bedrooms, 1 bathroom with bathtub plus shower cabin, a separate toilette for visitors and a huge balcony overlooking the green pastures.
The location of this hotel is not in a famous town as Zermatt, or St Moritz, or Gstaad but in an unassuming typical Swiss farm village in the middle of the rural Switzerland that lives from farming, lumber and tourism. All surrounded by green pastures, Swiss chalets, mountains and little villages nearby. This makes the experience of taking a vacation here similar to resting in paradise.
If you combine this ambience with owners who make quality their business model and perfectly trained staff to make you feel pampered, what else could you ask for…

From the moment you enter this hotel you just know it will be perfect. The immediate welcome shows this hotel knows everything about hospitality and how to make you feel special. The room was really exceptional with the cleanliness one comes to expect from Swiss hotels. A great walk-in shower with all the really good toiletries, a bed that once you lay your head on the pillow you drift off to a wonderful night of rest.
The kitchen offers superb food for dinner and at breakfast hot food is cooked direct from the kitchen, all served by a fantastic team on both occasions.
The location itself is all you could wish for but to have this hotel available as well is just a dream come true.
If you want to find an hotel in this region look no further than the Romantik Hornberg.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 days in September. From the moment we arrived the service was exceptional. We were welcomed warmly and taken to our room which was roomy and beautifully decorated with traditional Swiss Schernschnitte. We had a nice balcony with a beautiful view. The bathroom was large , exceptionally clean and appeared to have been newly remodeled. We chose the half board and enjoyed a wonderful meal each morning and evening at the restaurant. The food was great! Christian visits every table to assure that everything is perfect. Both husband and wife are readily available to assure your stay is a special experience. This is Swiss hospitality at its best. We will definitely return and bring the rest of our family.

The Hornberg is everything a hotel should be. The management and staff keep a strong focus on meeting the guest requirements and they create a wonderful atmosphere throughout the hotel.
The rooms are well furnished and kept in excellent order. Cleanliness throughout the hotel is impeccable and the outdoor areas are excellent.
Food is delicious at breakfast and at dinner and the service is top class. Here again, the staff put a huge effort into making sure the guests are well looked after, thus making meal times a delight. Extra little touches like the coffee machine and the richly stocked fruit bowl
Saanenmoeser is a very small village, but the availability of pleasant walks and hikes on the doorstep is enhanced by the availability of excellent train services (free with the Gstaad card) to neighbouring towns and villages.
Overall, Hotel Hornberg is a terrific base for a Summertime break or holiday.

Spent the night with the family at the hotel on our way to Zermatt, and we could not have stayed at a better place. The hotel has all the amenities one would ever need and in addition to that the hotel is just extremely romantic and cozy.

The warm service with a genuine smile from everyone we interacted was just superb, nothing was too much, and we had an absolutely great time.

The hotel is also close to Gstaad, so even if you want to visit this world-famous Alpine resort, we can highly recommend this hotel. The hosts are perfect, and we would definitely consider going back there at any given time.

Very good as usual. Nice reception and attentive service throughout the evening. Thank you for having given us the best table. Large food selection, the food we had was excellent. Very charming when the owner repeatedly comes over to check if everything is ok.

We stumbled across this hotel in the town of Saanenmoeser only because the hotel we had planned to stay in the next town (Schonried) was closed. What a wonderful discovery. While this hotel does not have exactly the same dramatic view of the stunning range you can see from Schonried, it still has a great setting. And if you walk for about 10 minutes, you can get to the same view in Schonried. If you do not know the area, these towns are near Gstaad, but higher in altitude.

The hotel itself is very well maintained, clean as usually found in Switzerland, with many deluxe touches. The beds are wonderfully comfortable.

The entire structure is characteristic of the region - a large chalet look, with porches overlooking manicured gardens, with mountains in the background. In late June, the flowers are in bloom everywhere. They have a small indoor lap pool. They offer free wifi access in the lobby area (which I am using to write this). The hotel is on a side street from the main drag going through town - so it is very quiet. A small train line runs nearby - but electric and barely noticeable.

Service and hospitality of the staff is outstanding. This is a well run, tasteful operation run by the family that owns it.

They offer two options: half board or normal room with breakfast. The half board includes dinner from a fixed menu, with either meat or vegetarian categories. If you factor in the cost of going out, the cost of the included dinner is very reasonable. The kitchen is very good - perhaps a shade under outstanding. The dinner included with the half board option was too much food, unless you are a teenager. They had a very good salad bar. The included breakfast was also excellent.

At current conversion rates, the cost of one of their smaller rooms on the half board plan was about $275/night. That might seem expensive, but if you consider that it includes a wonderful dinner and breakfast, it is quite reasonable. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a relaxing, very comfortable get away.

The Hotel Hornberg is a Family-owned hotel and it shows. In the best way possible. If you are looking for an impersonal, cold yet courteous stay in a corporate hotel, do not stay here.

I stayed for a week and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. From the moment I stepped into the Lobby on a Saturday afternoon until after my check-out on the following Friday, I was treated like a treasured guest. The owners and staff are friendly, hospitable, and seem to genuinely care if you are enjoying yourself. My room was a generous size with comfortable beds with a nice view down the valley and the Rueblihorn.

Two staff members (Sandro and Daniela) stood out for me. They were fantastic at their jobs. From Sandro remembering my preferred evening cocktail to Daniela being attentive and yet unobtrusive, their attention to the details and the overall level of customer service was outstanding.

Another thing that separates this hotel from the ordinary is the food. It's interesting, inventive and genuinely yummy. If you can, arrange a fondue in one of the little huts, it's cozy, intimate, and fun. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, and can give no higher accolades than to say, 'yeah, they are so good at what they do, they should teach it to other hotels'.

My wife and i stayed here in September 2014.The weather had been poor for a while but we arrived to sunshine and it stayed that way for our weeks holiday. We stayed in a double room with a patio overlooking the spa pool.Very quiet and peaceful. The room had all the facilities one could want except for a 2nd comfortable chair,I appreciate space may be an issue here. The rooms were clean.Breakfast was fantastic!.So many home made yoghurts, muselis, home made breads, fruit and anything cooked you desired.Dinner was excellent, the chef knows what he is doing and our food was beautifully presented and prepared-top quality. On one night we were offered an evening of fondue in their chalet hut-a great traditional swiss evening, very romantic and great fun to cook your own food.Like others have reported, the outstanding memory was that of service and friendliness.Nothing was too much trouble and Christian and his team went out of their way to make sure our stay was perfect. We are returning in 2015!
