Travelodge Shrewsbury Bayston Hill is praised for its convenient location and quiet ambiance, despite being situated in a busy area. Guests have applauded the hotel's service, citing the staff's friendliness and efficiency, though check-in can be slow at times. While the recent refurbishments are well-received, creating a soothing atmosphere, some furnishings and amenities, like WiFi and showers, are seen as outdated.
Opinions on the rooms are varied, with cleanliness being generally satisfactory but some travelers noting issues. The value for money aspect receives mixed feedback, particularly during peak seasons.

Arrived late on a Friday night and received a friendly helpful reception. When I got to my room the lights and heating were on which made it feel welcoming and comfortable, so that I could relax after my long journey driving through intermittent fog. I slept really well all night long as room was secluded and quiet. I then enjoyed a leisurely cup of tea before meeting in local pub for family reunion. I definitely recommend this Travelodge and will be returning to stay again, next time I visit Shropshire.

Would recommend this travelodge for anyone wanting to stay in the area it was very clean and we had no Problems at all. The room was fresh and clean and the reception person was friendly. There is a Dobbies garden centre right by it with cafe and a short walk takes you to a bus stop where park and ride takes you into Shrewsbury town for a small fee. About 1.50 or 2 pounds. Also a 10 min walk away is a quaint little pub that does great food.

Upon arrival we were told we couldn’t check in early as our room wasn’t ready, which is fine. We understand rooms may still be being cleaned. When we checked in just after 3 we entered our room which smelt very strongly of smoke, the floor hadn’t been hoovered, there were items from the guests before that we found in the room. 3 items under the bed including a diary/address book with personal information in, in the wardrobe space behind the spare pillows we found an empty cigarette packet (in a non smoking room), a notebook was left on top of the wardrobe space. The bathroom has soap in the bath, the shower curtain was mouldy and there was empty sanitary packet on the floor behind the bathroom door. It was clear to see that the room hadn’t been cleaned at all other than having new bedding put on the bed. There was also sugar granules on the desk and couple of dark hairs.
We spoke to the receptionist on duty, Emma. She was lovely, she came to view the room and take photos of the items left behind. She took us to another room which again hadn’t been hoovered. Another 4 rooms and we finally found a room that was clean and actually ready for guests. All in all 6 rooms were tried but not cleaned properly, one room had coffee stains all over the desk, another had previous guests items in the rooms. I’m not normally a picky guest, but this was ridiculous. Emma dealt with our complaint very professionally and calmly. Thank you Emma for helping to make our stay more comfortable and finding us a room suitable to stay in.
Having previously worked in a chain hotel, I know the standards that rooms should be for arriving guests and these rooms do not meet these standards. It is clear to see that the housekeeping team are either expected to do way too much for their shift or that they just aren’t doing their job properly. Also from my personal experience in the hotel industry the AM shift staff should be room checking before house keepers finish in order to ensure that all rooms are to standard this is clearly not being done.
Really do feel Head Office needs to pay a visit to this hotel and raise the standards a little, yes it’s a budget hotel but still there should be some standards here. Will not be staying here again.

everything was super clean and set up fab! it was in a perfect location with a little service stop next to, so easy access to food, coffee, and a fuel station - but was still very quiet despite it being busy roads! receptionist was lovely both days :)

I stay here every month and have been fine since 1995. Staff come and go but always have a warm welcome and a retained knowledge of what I like. The location is perfect as often I bring my dog Baggins, who is always happy here. Spacious room, with good dog walking in the field next door.
The property has great parking, and various food 8ffetings within 2 mins walk
A refurbishment is much needed, but whilst that is in the pipeline, the staff more than compensate for that.

Got a last minute deal and manged to check in early. Friendly staff on check in abd the toom was clean and quiet. Shower curtain probably needs replacing and the shower needed a but more cleaning but only minor things that didn't detect from the stay. Location was beneficial to us and there was plenty of parking. Only a 10 min taxi ride to Shrewsbury.

We were welcomed on arrival, and it was noticed that a ground floor room would be more appropriate- so they amended the booking. Staff had a good knowledge of local restaurants which was helpful. Room was large and spotless! Tea and coffee gratis!

Booked to stay locally so we could celebrate my partner's birthday and visit family. We were allocated an accessible room without being advised beforehand that this would be the case. As we are both tall having low sinks, beds etc made it uncomfortable. If we had been advised beforehand this was a possibility we would have booked elsewhere. We asked to change but were advised this was not possible. The hotel is very tired and run down and needs refurbishment. Bathroom also needed a good clean. Room smelt musty and windows covered in condensation which probably explains why they were open when we arrived. Sadly I cannot recommend staying here although the staff were nice and friendly. I have images if you would like to see them.

The staff were absolutely amazing, helped me with everything i needed, never had any problem with helping me. The hotel itself was clean, bed was lovely and neat and lots of choices for food, free parking on site. just a shame we had to pay £3 per night for internet when most hotels have FREE WIFI

My room was facing the main road but I found it very quiet due to the bushes and trees, couldn't see the road from the room I stayed in, in fact wasn't really aware that the road was there. I stayed on a Saturday night and didn't return to the room until late so maybe the road was quieter than a week night, either way I don't think it would be too noisy.
