I'm not sure if you know much about China, in this case, Wenchang, Hainan Island. This hotel was built 7 months ago when we checked in on October 17, 2019, and the road outside was still not paved! Anyway, I'm writing a review of this hotel so never mind the road outside!
As the hotel was only 7 months old, it was in a very good shape. I booked a room with 2 queen beds as we were 3 persons and a small sitting room. It was quite spacious and the bathroom was ok. I liked the small hallway beside the bathroom as it had a towel rack for hanging stuff. The only small problem was the toilet paper that they provided, was a really small role, not enough for us 3 women! We found that there were cupboards beside the elevator and we went to check them out! We found roles of toilet paper there besides other stuff. We just helped ourselves to the toilet paper......(hehehe, shhhhh......)
The staff at the front desk were all very friendly and because I can speak Hainanese, so I communicated with them in this dialect.
We stayed here for 2 nights. On the second night after our day out, we found our floor was flooded from where the sitting room was. We could not see where the water was coming from and thought it was from the air-conditioning machine installed there. I picked up the phone and wanted to call front desk, and found no ring tone! We thought we were stupid that we didn't know how to operate the phone! I went downstairs to the front desk and told them what happened. They quickly paged housekeeping to take care of the floor, and told me that because we had just put in the room key, it takes a while for it to connect to the phone therefore no ring tone! After I went upstairs, there was ring tone on the phone! Housekeeping came with a mop, thought it was a small puddle of water, then realized that she needed a bucket too! She said, there was renovation going on the 9th floor and the water came from there. She also said the floors above us were also flooded! We stayed on the 6th floor! I was really lucky, because I had put my luggage on the floor in the sitting room and before we went out, I decided to close my luggage and put it upright. If I had not done so, probably all my things in the luggage would be have WET!
That's was quite an experience.
