Detailed Reviews
We took the bullet train to Wenchang from Sanya. The hotel is not within walking distance from the train station. We took the public bus no. 6 (RMB2) and alighted at the `Gong Yuan' (the Wenchang Public Park and walk for 5 mins and the hotel is just around the corner.
We book the standard double bed room via elong website and it costs us RM128 per night. We stayed here for 2 nights. The room is spacious and there is a wall mounted TV that provides quite a range of entertainment channels. The bathroom shower hose is just in front of the toilet bowl and the space is a bit crammed. Nevertheless, it is clean and well-maintained.
The electrical kettle is not automatically switch off when the water boils and I wonder if it is safe with such manually operated electrical kettle.
What shocked us was the water. We were shocked by the yellowish stained water from the tap and it took us a while to drain off the few layers of yellowish colored water. I am not sure what causes the water to be yellow. Was it the rusty piping or the soil sediments that collected after the tap was not turn on for some time? Or was it the bad filtration system of the water department? I wonder if the authority has expended much resources to improve the quality of drinking water in Hainan.
The breakfast coupon at the hotel was a RMB10 discount for what you consumed. Our breakfast costs us RMB40 and we paid RMB 30 for our breakfast. We had some lotus paste bun, local coffee, pig tendons, etc for our breakfast.
The hotel also caters to wedding banquet and we were excited to see married couples standing early morning at the door entrance welcoming their guests to their wedding banquets.
The hotel is a short 5-min walking distance from the Confucius Temple and further down is the Wengnan Old Street where you can shop. Wenchang did not impress me as a clean city. There are many houseflies roaming around in restaurants and food stalls. The buildings look old and dilapidated and I see rooms for improvement in infrastructure.
Overall, the hotel is clean but average. The staff at the counter is courteous and answered well to our queries.

Longyuan is a basic and outdated hotel, in a small town of Wenchang.
Location is average, nothing around for tourist, except the wet market nearby. about 20 mins walk to spa and drinking place.
Room is basic with old furniture, but cleanliness acceptable, with kettle, but without in-room "safe". Bathroom is small.
wifi is slow, with no acess to Yahoo, google, FB, at all.
Breakfast with $10 voucher from hotel for.... dimsums, various pau(meat dumpling), porridge, noodles provided, with above average standard.
the Chinese restaurant at the second floor has good Chinese food, worth to eat there, price is reasonable.

The room is big but very very smelly-tobacco, I request to change to a non-smoking room, but they don't have one. Location is good, it is closed to everything. Restaurant also good. Another problem is the toilet, once shower, the whole toilet is wet.
