Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Sets the standards for Homestay in New Zealand.
Exceptionally friendly hosts - no request was too much trouble. Facilities were luxurious, one of the most comfortable nights sleep I can remember. Breakfast was included and delicious and very generous. Simply breathtaking views from all rooms and breakfast veranda and magnificent gardens to stroll in. A real gem, gets the highest recommendation.

Beautiful property and welcoming hosts.
The views and in particular the sun rise were absolutely stunning. We had an evening meal in with the hosts who were interesting and interested in where your travels had taken you.
Would strongly recommend a stay here and we would definitely stay here again.

Shona and Julian's home is in a delightful setting on the top of a hill overlooking a small bay with a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. Their home has a subtle elegance set in restful surroundings and a lovely garden. The tea and cake on the terrace was a lovely welcome after our journey from the Coromandel Penisula. Shona and Julian were happy to assist with dinner bookings in the lovely nearby village of Matakana and Ebbtide is a perfect place to locate yourself for the surrounding countryside and wineries. The terrace outside the tastefully decorated bedroom is a lovely way to end a day of exploring.

Lovely views, peaceful surroundings, nice garden, fun well behaved dog. Appreciated the nice linen and bathroom botanicals.
Room was not soundproof - heard neighbour and toilet.
The driveway was steep and winding - lights and better signage would have made us feel more comfortable especially driving down!
A hot wonderful breakfast cooked in the traditional English way with Eggs, Bacon, etc cooked to perfection. We really enjoyed the very generous breakfasts !! The proprietors were charming and very friendly.

This stunning modern home sits atop a hill with expansive views and surrounded by lush gardens. The home was designed as a homestay, so that the guest rooms are in a separate wing and have their own terrace areas. The very comfortable room was decorated in an upscale, modern way. The ensuite bathroom was very modern and gorgeous. The breakfasts were the best we have had in any B and B, with fresh smoked salmon, home made breads, etc.The hosts are lovely people, who make this a special experience. The location made an easy base for exploring the area, but the beauty and comfort of the site made it hard to leave! Highly recommended for a luxurious and romantic get away!!

My husband and I enjoyed 2 nights here a few months ago and it was a lovely break away. Modern, clean room and ensuite with everything you need. Lovely big shower, and sliding doors off the bedroom to a sunny patio in the sun. The hosts were very friendly and we had a drink with them in the sun on their deck when we arrived. Stunning views out over the bay. Great breakfasts too - one of which we were served outside on the deck in the gorgeous morning sun. A nice easy drive into Matakana for the markets and the cafes.
