We stayed in Tui Cottage for 2 nights. The cottage is gorgeous & the deck view totally amazing! Super comfy bed & pillows, well equipped kitchen & good bathrooms! Spotlessly clean. Great communication from the owners! This was a real find & would highly recommend a visit to this area.

We had booked this as a place close to Auckland airport and nothing more. We were amazed when we arrived. Ths is an incredibly romanic place, the cottage is beautfiful, set in a subtropical paradise, with incredible views through native bush to the bay. Very isolated, but easily accesible, and surrounded by the most amazing coastline. The interior has more than a little of a polynesion paradise. Fitted out to a very high quality, with all mod cons. Several decks with amazing views including a separate one for the bedrooms. Even has a little spa bath in an out-house. Simpoly stunning.

Cannot say enough about The Cottages Matakana. We stayed in the Fantail cottage. From the minute I booked the owners were friendly and helpful. We were asked what time we would be arriving and the cottage was unlocked and ready for us when we got there. The cottages are totally self contained so we did not see anyone the whole time we were there. There was a welcome note from the owenrs next to a complimentary bottle of wine. The place was spotless and very private with decking all along the front and off the bedroom looking out onto bush & sea views. Nice modern kitchen & ensuite bathroom. The spa bath was located in a Bure type shed (bubble bath included) in the bush which was awesome. Did not have to check out until 12.00pm. The drive to Matakana took approx 15mins but didn't feel like that long as there are some amazing homes to look at along the way. I totally recommend this place for a romantic getaway.

These cottages are a little off the beaten track but well worth the diversion. We used both the cottages and they were just delightful. Heather was helpful and accommodating even though we arrived much later than anticipated. We only spent one night here although could well have stayed longer. Fabulous views, excellent accommodation and had everything you could wish for. Would highly recommend, and hope to return one day!

The photos do not do this property justice. We thought were were getting rustic. We got pure class. We were delighted to arrive at Tui Cottage to find such a lovely place with absolutely anything you could want in it. Beautifully appointed, great beds, space, too many good things to list. Just hope it will be available next time we want to stay, I imagine the secret is out now! Really I think I could live there. We planned to eat out that night but instead bought in so we could spend more time there. Didn't get a chance to use the 'secret spa' down the bush path but a very cute little addition. And thanks to Heather, our host for returning something to us that we left behind.

This is probably the best holiday accommodation we have ever experienced. I cannot think of a single fault. You have everything you could need in facitities, it is clean, fresh, tastefully decorated. We will come again and again.

What an amazing find! We stayed in the Fantail Cottage and it was perfect in every way. Fully equipped, very thought out and well positioned. It had everything - kitchen, dishwasher, oven, washing machine, dryer, spa bath You name it, it had it! Beautiful views and the sunsets were gorgeous. On arrival there was wine & Chocolates waiting, with a welcome card and flowers throughout - every little touch was a delight. We hid away from the world and enjoyed all this cottage had to offer. Highly recommended!!! We will be returning without a doubt.

Nice touches like a wine and nuts on arrival but the bottom line is this place is totally awesome. Great value, wonderfully clean and well appointed. We took a friend from Sydney and now we want an excuse to go back... Went to sandpiper lodge recently too and it is not a patch on this place. I'm telling all my friends to go here it is totally awesome. Perfect for two couples or three if you take both cottages PLUS the spa baths that are not mentioned are uber cool. The walk to the beach via the nearby reserve is hard work but wonderful too. Go go go go

We stayed in the Tui Cottage which has two beautiful equally sized bedrooms with ensuites for each. The place is very well equipped, clean, and with many little touches that make it feel welcoming and comfortable, You can tell that the owners really put a lot of thought and care into the place. I would highly recommend this place for a romantic escape or to take overseas guests to give them a taste of NZ's natural beauty. About a 10-15 min drive from Matakana and handy to nice beaches (Snells and Martins Bay) and wineries.

Six of us rented the two cottages for the weekend and were delighted with the quiet location, the sea views, the beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and comfortable rooms and the quirky spa bath huts in the bush. You are provided with everything you need and are then just left alone to enjoy yourselves. If you are looking for some special couple time, with the occasional foray out for food and wine, "The Cottages" will meet all of your expectations.

Hi thanks for your query we don't have spa treatments available at the cottages but we have had guests organise a masseuse to come while they are there. Each cottage has it's own spa bath room which has candles and bubble bath.
There are more places to choose from in the Matakana area.
