I don’t know what’s better, the rooms, the location or the staff. Room 6 was modern and spotlessly clean with a heat pump, shower over bath and ample living space. The motel is a 60-second walk to Matakana Pub, and less than 2mins from Matakana Market Kitchen (right where the markets are). I used to stay in Snells Beach when I came to this area but now I’ll switch to this motel. I rarely post TA reviews but the staff/owners are so lovely I couldn’t not. 10/10 😊

This motel is well off the main road making it a very quiet location. Close to main street and hotel for dinner. Our unit ( number 3) was spacious, modern and very clean. There is a verandah outside the room which would be OK to sit on.

Situated close to the centre of the village, this is a spacious, comfortable,fresh and modern motel. Lovely well kept outside space. Very well equipped unit with sofa, fridge, microwave, toaster, cutlery etc. Small deck and chairs. Delighted to see communal BBQs. Constructive feedback: not all units have a bistro table for alfresco dining. What's the point of a BBQ and then take the food indoors to eat? Delightful crew.

Clean unit in great location - but the thin walls made sleep quality very poor. We had a king studio. The reason we rated three stars as the walls are thin. We could clearly hear the noise from units on either side of us. The guy (yes we could clearly hear it was a guy) on our left made numerous phone calls, turned on the tv til late. And then he got up at 5.30am in the morning - into the bathroom, jug on, opening cupboards, slamming door. To our right we heard the bathroom fan, doors, moving around. We couldnt sit out on the small deck as it was shared and the neighbour smoking. We loved being able to walk to the main street through the walking path. It would be a great place to stay if there were quieter units.

The driveway and parking situation is really cramped. It's a free time to find the right lane, and it was hard to park our car, even though it was not a giant vehicle. The room was fair, but it had a very old-fashioned jacuzzi type tub that was dangerous to get in and out of if you wished to take a shower. We only stayed for one night, so I can't give too many more details

Loved our stay here in a two bedroom unit. Plenty of space and everything you need. So close to the centre of town (1min walk). The pool is heated too so could easily of gone swimming even at this time of year. All staff were friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come back.

We had booked this motel for a friend’s wedding in Matakana back in June 2019. Right from the get go, the communication from the motel was wonderful. After confirming the booking, I had emailed separately to book a carpark and some other details regarding the payment and received prompt responses every single time. Breath of fresh air! When we finally got to the motel in January 2020, we were pleasantly surprised and impressed by the maintenance, flexibility, ease of access and service here. The room we stayed in was beautiful, well lit and air conditioned, with a BEAUTIFUL view from our back deck. Definitely recommended, can’t wait to go back to this little piece of paradise.

Stayed here on our return south after doing the loop from Wellsford to Leigh to Warkworth.
After visiting Morris & James Pottery we had booked to stay here.
Very comfortable, tidy and clean unit No 3 which was also very quiet.
The motel is well off the road so no road noise.
Very close to the township, in fact, all you had to do was go through the back gate and down the drive of the old hotel.
Large comfortable bed, sofa, breakfast bench.
TV with limited Chanel’s but okay.
Nice bathroom with large shower.
Usual things you would find in the kitchenette, coffee, tea etc and milk in the small fridge. Microwave.
Good parking.

Just a hundred or so metres from the main road mean that this Motel is very popular. We stayed in one of the three recently completed executive suites, the room was very nice and ticked all the boxes. AC, Fridge freezer, Microwave, Jug & Toaster. The bed was large with great linen the bathroom & shower were great. Outside we had table & chairs and shared BBQ. Finishing touch Robes & Slippers

We stayed at the motel for one night during our family Matakana weekend. We had the 2 bedroom unit and found it to be extremely tidy , well looked after and with a good bathroom. It was also very sunny and warm. It was in a great location to walk to the weekend markets and the small shopping area that makes up the Matakana village. Hubby and son were happy as it had sky sports for the transtasman rugby! Very happy with our stay.
