We booked Punanga Lodge through Booking.com to attend our friend's wedding in the area. We received confirmation alongside a personal message from the hosts Jan and Graham (as I had outlined our arrival times). A week before the wedding I contacted the hosts on the email listed on Facebook to ask about arrival and payment - no response. Two days later, Booking.com rang to say the Punanga Lodge would no longer host us. Apparently, this was the first Booking.com (or we) had heard about it. Since it's the last minute, we have had to book alternative arrangements more than half an hour's drive away - which will spoil our ability to properly attend and enjoy the wedding. It would be one thing if there had been some emergency and we had been given as much notice as possible. Punanga Lodge accepted our booking, pulled out without notification and didn't even bother to personally respond to my email, explain the reason or apologise - I expected better from the reviews here. I dread to think what would have happened if we had just arrived as planned!

I stayed with my 2 bridesmaids the night before my wedding and our wedding night with my husband. Jan & Graeme were very welcoming to us and made us feel at home. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the wedding day build up, all our suppliers were blown away with the magic of the place. I very special place with amazing views and Jan went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. I would highly recommend Punanga Lodge to any bride who wants a relaxing beautiful spot to get ready for her big day!! Thank you so much Jan & Graeme.

I stayed at Punanga Lodge the night before my wedding and the night of. Everything was perfect. Jan and Graham were very accommodating and welcoming. The location is stunning, the lodge is beautiful. I had such a lovely stay and would definitely recommend this accommodation as a top notch destination. I got ready at the lodge with my bridesmaids and family and it was such a relaxing place to be. Views are fabulous and its quite amazing that you can find such a stunning setting only a short drive from Auckland.

Punanga Lodge is an oasis of calm. Jan and Graham were very welcoming when we arrived and showed us to our extremely comfortable, beautifully furnished room with an outlook on two sides through picture windows across the surrounding countryside. We were particularly pleased that they provided a list of places to eat within a short drive (ten minutes) from Punanga Lodge. The bed was very comfortable and we had an excellent night's sleep.Jan provided us with a superb breakfast in the morning including home made muesli which was delicious. A great choice and would recommend unreservedly.
