We are a historic camp situated on a beautiful peninsula at the end of the main street of Collingwood Village and surrounded in the Aorere river and the sea. Situated half way between the wild and wonderful Wharariki Beach and the splendor of Farewell Spit and the closest park to the wonderful Heaphy track, we are an extremely popular wee camp. The tranquility is sort after and our regular guests call it "Paradise" and you just can't beat that!

We stayed at collingwood holiday park for 8 nights over Christmas 2021. It is a beautiful location right on the water and probably the best toilet/shower block we've experienced at a campground, the kitchen also has everything you coule want if youve forgotten anything and also has a bbq for guest use. Jac and Grant are amazing hosts and so kind and helpful, they keep the place spotless and nothings too much trouble for them. They used their car as a windbreak for our tent on some of the extra windy nights (there was a few of them) and really helped us out when our van battery died by driving us into takaka to get a new one. We loved the location, really handy to farewell spit and kahurangi national park and even abel tasman. It was a great base, really chilled out and relaxing and Grant & Jac really made the trip. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend this place or stay again. Thank you.

It was so great to have you both come and stay L and S. With exception to the battery, we are glad you enjoyed your time here and were able to relax :-) Thank you for being a joy to host and tolerating my camp mum worry about your tent, lol! All the best for the new year and we hope to see you again in future!

We camped in a small tent here for 2 nights early January. The campsite has a kitchen (well equipped), lounge, and tennis court. The ablution block looks brand new and was kept very clean during our stay. The showers have hooks for clothes, and each cubicle has a locking door and a proper shower door (no yucky curtains here!)
Our only gripes are that there weren't enough sinks, and there were no hand driers.
All of the paper towel dispensers were empty across the campsite for the 3 days we were there.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for writing a review. Being as that we are on the beach we are cautious of what rubbish is generated that has potential to filter into the environment- meaning no paper towels. We are looking into alternate ways to provide dry hands in a responsible manner preserving impact on our environment. Thank you for visiting and we hope the rest of your journey has been fantastic :-)

A superb site beautifully situated by the sea - highly recommended.
The hosts are welcoming and look after this lovely place with great care and attention to detail. This was our second visit and we will be back.
Especially appreciated are the excellent showers with plentiful high-pressure hot water - and no coins, tokens, or time delay buttons.

Right on the edge of the north of the South Island, it’s a beautiful spot. We stayed in a standard cabin, but was really too small for 3 nights. However we noticed all the cabins were different, so would pay to ring and enquire specifically about each room. However it was stand alone which was good. The camping ground was lovely and quiet. A perfect place for camper vans. However not enough ablutions, but looked like they were building more. We found camp managers friendly when we saw them, but couldn’t find them when we needed to.

So pleased we booked a waterfront powered site. Two nights became three as soon as we arrived!
Stunning spot, great facilities and super staff. The team took over in November and have done really well. Choice of shower blocks - new or single cubicles, good wifi for $5 on 2 devices, great kitchen areas.
Met some great fellow travelers in campervans and really enjoyed our stay. Easy walk to beach where many trying to catch fish or swim. Minutes into the town for food, shops, tours or just a look around

We didn't want to leave! Jac and Grant have made an idyllic location even more perfect with a clean, up to date and user friendly environment. Our cabin was so cozy, each bed was made with consideration for the unpredictable weather and temperatures. We will 100% be staying here again.

We initially choose this place to park up our motorhome as it was ideally located for doing the Farewell Spit Eco Tour -we could literally walk 2 minutes up the street, which was great given that the tour ended at 9.30pm. So while location was our main reason for staying here, we were really surprised by the facilities and wonderful location in and of itself. It's right on the water's edge with stunning views. The beach is littered with driftwood and shells that makes for great walks just exploring. The camp ground is small but surprisingly private. The toilet facilities were top notch -large private cubicles each with a toilet and shower -and GREAT water pressure. No annoying shower timers either which is always appreciated. Everything is close by yet feels a world away. The friendly staff were also incredibly helpful and happy to accommodate our various requests. We will definitely be back.

The camping ground sits at the mouth of the Aorere River, on the edge of the small town of Collingwood. It is a relatively small camping ground and the facilities have recently upgraded.
Wiremu & Nicky, the managers, are outstanding hosts who ensure you have a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
The location is excellent base for day trips to numerous walks and day trips around one of the most beautiful areas in NZ. I would thoroughly recommend this camping ground as a place to stay in Golden Bay.

We only stayed one night here, as we were tight for time, but couldn't have asked for more helpful service - we were in a campervan, travelling with friends in another. The owner made sure we had sites together, checked the sites suited the size of our vehicles, and that they were directly beside the lagoon. The facilities were modern - very clean and well laid out. It felt like our own ensuite. The laundry was well appointed and the machines easy to use. The camping ground was quiet and not too large, so we got a goodnight's sleep. Highly reccomended!

Stayed solo second week of January 2021. Don't usually travel during school holidays. When I arrived they were pretty much full but the owners fit me into a powered site. This is such an awesome wee spot. I have been to Golden Bay a couple of times before but never stayed in Collingwood and even though it was peak season, everyone at the campsite was so friendly, respectful and the owners were easy going and a laugh.
The beach at the spit area is not like alot of Golden Bay but I still went in and swam and chatted to the fisherman (get fishing spot).
Loved hearing the Tuis above my tent in the trees.
Shower/toilet block was always so clean and the showers were amazingly pressured and hot - better than at home.
Kitchen areas kept clean and great place to mingle and chat to fellow travellers.
I arrived very hungover but extended my stay and left refreshed, thinking this is now one of my fav wee spots to destress and relax in NZ.
Thanks guys, you are doing an awesome job ;)
