Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A slice of paradise, beautiful well kept grounds, cosy accommodation with all you need for a retreat amongst nature, quiet, relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. We stayed at "The hut" which is very private surrounded by native bush and birds. The hosts were very warm welcoming us. We unfortunately did not realize the check out time and we were 45min late leaving the place, we have apologized and offered to pay more for it, but the offer was denied. Later on the day we got a message from the owner saying we have been charged an extra $20 for not putting our clean dishes away back in shelves/cupboards. It just felt like a very small/silly reason for a $20 charge and he had the opportunity to charge us more for leaving late, rather than a 1min job of putting dishes away. Anyway, apart from this slightly bitter ending highly recommend the place!

A sweet set up with rustic but clean, well equipped & comfortable accommodation. Really helpful managers who, for a small fee dropped us in our car at the start of the Heaphy Track & looked after it until we picked it up. Very handy to stay there the night before we set off. All round great experience, would go again.

We stayed in one of the cottages out the back with a private bathroom and kitchen. The room was well appointed with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Beautiful location with their own spacious gardens, in close proximity to many places to explore, we could happily have stayed longer. The internet access is limited.

We loved staying at the Innlet. This hostel has the feeling of a handcrafted home, each room with its own unique personality. The owners are present and involved in the hostel daily, everything is clean and well maintained. An eco friendly destination. We wish we could have stayed longer. Plan three or four days here. You won't regret it.

The Inlet is not just a hostel -

much more it felt more like a temporary home: a beautiful house in an equally beautiful setting and above all the incredibly warm, welcoming and inviting atmosphere created by DALIA, the manager – YOU ARE DOING MORE THAN AN INCREDIBLY GOOD JOB !!! - Jill and the Woofers invited us to stay in this hidden paradise not just the night we had planned but many more - we returned and thought about “staying forever” - relaxing in the beautiful living room, near the fire-place, on the deck, in the colourful flourishing garden, sharing and living together in a joyful and peaceful way – thanks to everybody for making this experience possible !!!

Would we come back – absolutely.

Positives: 100 percent. Negatives: None.

We were travelling as 2 couples and were put up in lovely garden cottages which were extremely well set out, spacious and very private. The grounds are lovely and being set back from the road there was no traffic noise (not that there is much traffic around that area). Would definately stay there again.

The Innlet is a good convenient spot between Collingwood and Farewell Spit. An older style house with good beds and clean linen and a convivial atmoshere and obliging host. Lovely gardens and stream and a short walk down to Golden Bay. You book a room so you are not having to share - most rooms have at least 3-4 beds. Very reasonably priced for this area.

Room Tip: Book ahead. 'Blue' room has nice view of garden but self-contained units do too.

We loved our stay here. We found our hosts friendly and helpful. We stayed in the en suite cottage which also had a kitchen and it was perfect. Clean and very well equipped, it even had a small posy of wild flowers. The weather was very mixed so went spent more time inside than expected and we were very comfortable. Plenty of walks and beautiful scenery.

Room Tip: There is no TV (wonderful!) - and the grocery shopping is at least 30 mins away.

We were among the first visitors this season, and stayed in the double room off the shared living area. It was beautiful and peaceful there at this time of year. Innlet is a great base for hiking in the area - we got to both the Kaituna Track (near the Naked Possum Cafe) and up to hike on Farewell Spit. Jonathan and Katie are relaxed and gracious hosts, very helpful with knowledge and suggestions. They're conscious about water and energy usage (as we are at home), and have the place set up to minimize impact on this somewhat remote area. Good glowworms and beautiful stars up here. We'd stayed here in 2011, and will stay here again next time we're in the Golden Bay area.
