Very clean, fab location, friendly staff. Right in town, opposite the farewell spit tour office. We had the family room which was perfect for our tribe and has an awesome view of the estuary. Lovely clean bedding, very modern interior with nice carpet.
Great setup beside the tidal harbour. The room had everything we needed, comfortable bed, good shower, fridge, micro microwave and a heat pump. The staff were helpful. Outside BBQ facilities, outdoor seating and an on site laundromat. Plenty of parking
King Studio unit for four nights was compact but had what we needed and was quiet. The unit was modern and very nice with king bed, two seater sofa, dining table and two chairs, a kitchenette and reasonable bathroom room but a bit short on space to open out our suitcases. Bed a bit on the firm side. Location is perfect diagonally opposite Farewell Spit Tours departure point and adjacent to estuary with tables and chairs to use to enjoy the view. The service we got was great except we thought there were no face cloths provided, but after the first night when we used our own face cloths staff said to me "you didn't use the face cloths" and I said "I didn't know there were any" and she showed me they were in the cupboard under the basin, not with the towels. Next day we used the motel face cloths, but funny thing after that was the service team never replaced them again and I had to chase the office to get fresh ones until the day we left. A recommendation would be for the motel to seal its car park because when it rained it was difficult not to carry wet slush off that into the motel unit, particularly the day we were leaving and loading the car when you couldn't really take your shoes on and off each time you went in and out the door and it carried on your feet into the car too. All up this is a very good motel in Collingwood and a great place to stay in the best location in town. …
Room very nice and clean but unfortunately the hippy neighbours decided to have a party on the days we stayed and the drumming and chanting was annoying. We walked the beach and chatted to some locals overall our stay was a good start to our South Island tour.
Stayed for 2 nights , great location, friendly easy check in with advise on where to eat and what to see and do Small but clean and tidy room with air conditioning. Close to town centre Unfortunately there was a alternate / hippy convention on in the building next door the two nights we were there which a little disturbing with drumming and singing but I doubt that it’s a regular occurrence
What a delight to stay here. The rooms feel very modern, the owner was super friendly and helpful, and as Collingwood is a very small one-street town, you are less than one minute from anywhere (the Farewell Spit Eco-Tours departure point is right across the road.) This was as nice a motel as we have stayed at anywhere in NZ and would stay here again without any hesitation.
Trying to book online I was having difficulty getting a 3-night stay so phoned the owner who offered me what turned out to be a perfect solution for 3 adults. The apartment was spacious with a full kitchen, good bathroom and comfortable beds. Collingwood is so quiet at night that your ears will ring! (ie, a good sleep was had by all.) Karen was very welcoming, offered good advice on eating and using our time and even unloaded our dried laundry for us! Felt like a real home away from home and can't recommend this place highly enough.
Really enjoyed our night here. A lovely well appointed room. Very comfy bed and quiet neighbourhood. The host was so nice and helpful and went the extra mile for us with things to do, directions and even our washing.
Lovely motel, beautifully clean and everything has been thought of. Fabulous spot with great views. Very helpful staff and owner, and we added an extra night after learning about the things to do in the area. One of our favourite places so far! Thank you!
We found the motel room comfortable, spacious and very clean. Oodles of hot water in the excellent shower. It was magical just sitting by the inlet at the end of the motel, watching the sun on the water and sipping a glass of wine at one of the picnic tables. Ideally situated for visiting Farewell Spit, Puponga Farm (for walks) and Whaririki Beach. We had a very friendly reception, received advise about trips and where to eat. We will be coming back!
