The Marko Polo Hotel by Aminess is widely recognized for its excellent location, close to the old town and ideal for cyclists, with guests often admiring the cleanliness of public spaces. While the atmosphere is generally charming, some guests feel the rooms could benefit from an update.

We had arranged a booking in Korcula and we asked our travel agent for 4* accommodation as this was our Honeymoon.
On arrival we were directed to room 11 described as a room with a balcony and sea view. Room 11 was part of a separate complex of rooms 11 to 19 so anticipated these were larger and more exclusive suites.
The decor was dated, and as the photo shows there was no sea view and the patio doors wouldn't lock, The room smelled a little musty and the air conditioning was very noisy. After half a day it was displaying SOS.
After 1 night with little sleep as the room was next to two A/C units in the hall and possibly the pumps for the pool, again see pictures, we asked to be moved.
At this point we learned that this room had been a free upgrade. We were now worried what the alternative room would look like. It was great. On asking I was told that room 11 was €12.00 a night more.
As mentioned, the hotel was described as 4 star. This is not what our experience felt like.
The drink options in the restaurant are limited. At breakfast the fruit drinks are very basic. Tea,coffee and water are available. Evening no drinks are available and on taking our own water in we were told that was not permitted and we must buy bottled water.
No tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. We asked for a kettle and two cups but nothing else was available and nowhere to store milk.
Food was OK but was very repetitive so same options morning and night. Often a shortage of some of the more popular items, such as soup and the fried eggs so often short queues waiting for fresh supplies.
Hotel facilities limited, indoor pool empty and not in use. Outdoor pool the water features not working. The jacuzzi worked for two days and was then switched off and emptied, original explanation was the rain had meant the jacuzzi needed cleaning, a bit unusual as it used the same water as in the pool.
A large part of the hotel seems to be not in use /derelict so when walking down to the beach you pass empty and derelict buildings. On a positive note the staff were nice and the hotel location was great.

Dear Stuart W , First and foremost, we would like to express our gratitude for choosing our hotel for your honeymoon getaway and for taking the time to share your thoughts about your recent stay. We understand how significant this occasion is, and we sincerely apologize that we fell short of meeting your expectations. Your feedback is invaluable to us, as it helps us identify areas where we can improve and ensure that every guest enjoys a memorable experience. We deeply regret the inconveniences you encountered in room 11 during your stay, including the dated decor, lack of sea view, and issues with the patio doors and air conditioning. Rest assured, we take your comments seriously, and your comfort is of utmost importance to us. We are actively taking steps to minimize such disturbances in the future. We acknowledge your concern regarding the room upgrade. Our intention was to provide you with the best possible experience, and it is clear we did not meet your expectations in this regard. We understand that the alternative room offered was more to your satisfaction, and we're pleased that you found it enjoyable. Regarding the facilities and amenities you highlighted, we appreciate your candid feedback. Please accept our sincere apologies for any disappointments regarding the limited drink options and the absence of tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. We are reviewing our offerings to ensure that they align with the expectations of our valued guests. We would like to clarify that the indoor pool is closed during the high season due to the presence of our spacious outdoor pool, which offers a more enjoyable and expansive space for our guests to relax and swim. We hope this provides you with a better understanding of our facility choices. We are committed to providing a diverse and enjoyable dining experience, and we apologize for the repetitiveness of our food offerings during your stay. Your feedback will serve as a valuable guide as we continue to refine our menu options and strive for culinary excellence. Lastly, we appreciate your kind words regarding our staff and our hotel's prime location. We will continue to focus on delivering exceptional service and ensuring that our guests are well taken care of throughout their stay. Once again, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your feedback and for giving us the opportunity to address your concerns. We hope that, despite the challenges you encountered, you were able to enjoy some positive aspects of your stay. Your insights will undoubtedly contribute to the enhancements we're making to elevate our guests' experiences. If your travels bring you back to Korčula, we would be truly honored to have the chance to provide you with a more satisfying and delightful stay. Warm regards, Marko Polo by Aminess Hotel Management

We arrived around 5pm, having been travelling all day, to find that there was no water in the hotel so we were unable to shower until later in the evening. Not their fault and they provided us with a large bottle of water to see us through. When the water returned, the system was not flushed through properly and it was a distinctly orange colour, this lasted for 24 hours.
We had booked a half board stay and were provided with a buffet breakfast and dinner arrangement. The food was plentiful and well presented, however, it was never warm. There was no regard to HACCP checks and when challenged, it seems the chef thinks he has to have all food ready for start of service and not top up during the service period. I have a mild food allergy and there was no allergen information available where food items were labelled. The staffing was inadequate to clear the tables quickly which meant trying to juggle dirty plates and your next course which is never ideal. There was no evidence of any areas being sanitised during our stay.
The bar was only open from 07am to 12 Noon and 5pm to 10pm each day so no drinks available during the hot afternoons by the pool. Drinks, when available were served in glass next to the pool, rather than a safer plastic option.
The rooms were clean, in the main, but lacked attention to detail on air vents and door hinges, etc. The beds were very comfortable although the lightweight duvet took some getting used to.
The hotel is well-placed for Korcula old town, which is very visible from the hotel and about a 10 minute walk away. It has many bars, cafes and restaurants and is a safe place to walk around and you will not be hassled to enter the bars and cafes,
The hotel had been closed during the covid pandemic and attention could have been paid to areas of the hotel so it presented a better image on opening. The dining area had some glass ceiling panels which were cracked and had debris on them and other areas could have had attention paid to them.
Having said all of the above, the staff were warm and welcoming and very helpful and were happy to assist.

We spent a week at this lovely hotel. The reception, dining room, and communal seating areas were all in immaculate condition with no damage to anything that we could see. The staff were exemplary, so friendly and helpful. The food at breakfast was really good and the breads were always fresh and tasty. The only disappointment for us was that there was no thick yoghurt, only thin and watery. The cold drinks machine was switched off at the evening meal, and that was a shame. Evening meals were very varied, pasta, fish, meat, and salads, to name a few. The chef and staff wanted to please as many tastes as possible.
The room we had was in very good condition, the bed was very comfortable and there was always a good supply of hot water.
We enjoyed our time around the pool, no problem finding loungers and parasols, no loud music, just quiet background stuff.
We booked through Secret Escapes, transfers from Dubrovnik to the hotel. Our flight was delayed, so it was a 10pm arrival. The drive to Korcula is a long way. We finally got to the hotel at 2AM. Return transfer was much better because the ferry was running, and the vehicle was more comfortable, and it was daylight, too.

Hotel has a great location, with views of the old town, and only a short walk to reach everything. There are some great, well-priced bars & restaurants along the way.
The staff were really helpful, and the reception and pool area were modern, clean and the pool had great views. Sadly the bubble pool wasn’t filled.
The hotel is really let down by the rooms, which are dated and tired, and the buildings between the hotel & the sea - it’s not clear if they’re part of the hotel or not, but they’re closed & run down with broken windows.
We’d paid for a sea view room, and there was a small balcony, just about enough room for the 2 faded, uncomfortable chairs and table. As others have said, the bathroom was small, the shower head wouldn’t fix in position properly, and overall it had the impression of needing an update. The curtains in the room were torn, and the air conditioning very noisy and ineffective.
The breakfast was probably what you’d expect - geared to large groups/packages, had everything you’d expect and decent quality. Proper orange juice could be purchased for €4.50, otherwise it was a weak, sweetish orange liquid from a machine (as other reviews have said).
Overall, we actually enjoyed the stay, and it was reasonably cheap, compared with other options. However for a 4* hotel, it can’t be related more than average.

My partner and I spent five days at the Marko Polo. After an initial problem with the allocation of the room (I had asked for one with the view of the old town, and I was given one seaside but with the sight of the old town blocked by the adjacent building), which was solved after some insistence from my side, our stay was very pleasant. The hotel is situated within walking distance of the old town and, while not new, it is well appointed to a 4-star standard. The swimming pool also offers very nice views of the sea one the old town. Staff is generally nice and friendly. The only word of caution is that the hotel often hosts groups, so the restaurant could get quite busy for breakfast when a whole group descends at the same time.

Just returned from 10 days HB through Jet2. Our room was on the 2nd floor and although we looked out onto the roof of the restaurant which wasn't the best view the extended view was amazing and to wake up to that view was unbelievable. Food was good and room very comfortable with AC and a free safe. The only issues we had were no tea or coffee facilities and no fridge in the room and for a 4* hotel I think was ridiculous. We have stayed in 3* hotels and you had a fridge. The Aminess group look to have a monopoly on the island as I think all were the same. And when you see that they charge you £4 or 32 kuna for a bottle of water you realuze why the fridge is missing. We already had read that there was a juliette style balcony but I really missed a balcony to sit out in a morning and have a coffee. No entertainment at all you had to walk along a dimly lit path to the sister Hotel about a 10 min walk which had a movie night and two quiz nights. Restaurant staff worked very hard and very friendly. View from the pool was lovely.

The hotel is in a good location, close to the Old Town. Choose a room with sea view on the upper floor, so you will have a view to the city.
The staff is helpful and friendly.
Breakfast and dinner are buffet style and varied, but many dishes are cold due to inappropriate service.
The rooms are clean, but the renovations are needed.
They are equipped only with basic equipment, all stated in the offer, we had to request at the reception. Refrigerator with mini bar, hair dryer, TV did not work. All of this took us four hours on the first day to fix it.

Having read the reviews I was a little sceptical about this hotel but I have to say I have been really pleasantly surprised.
Ok so the hotel is a little dated and some of the furniture a bit shabby but it’s clean and comfortable and the pool area and view are fantastic. We upgraded to a junior suite and got a lovely spacious room with a balcony and 2 Juliet balcony’s overlooking the sea. We just had bed and breakfast, the breakfast was good, lovely pastries and a good selection of hot and cold food with 3 fruit options, we were happy with it.
The location here is just perfect, a 5-10 min stroll into old town and a small supermarket about 2 min walk from hotel.
The staff here are fantastic, so polite and always willing to help. I would definitely stay here again!

Generally a nice hotel. The staff were all great - warm, friendly and very helpful. Beds were comfortable and the hotel was clean. Pool area is nice and not too crowded though I can imagine when the hotel is busy (we went before the rush) it may be a challenge getting sun beds. There is good service from the pool bar but lunch options are a bit limited. Breakfast buffet choice was excellent.
As reported by other people, the air conditioning was struggling to keep things cool. Our room could not go below 25°C. Also the rooms are not that modern and lack refrigerators which could have kept bottles of water cool. Fridges are available at a big cost. No team / coffee making facilities either which most 4 star hotels offer.
The bathrooms look a little tired and need refurbishment. There is a bar but there is no atmosphere or decent service in the evening (most cocktails are not available to staff do not know how to make them which is a missed business opportunity for the hotel). It even closes early when staff go home which again is a missed opportunity.
Location is great. Just a short walk into town and there is a nice beach very nearby.

Me and my family visited the Marco Polo hotel in June 2022. The staff were instantly attentive and continued to be throughout our entire stay. One member of staff in particular made our stay extremely comfortable and went over and above to accommodate any requests and questions we had. The location is great. A 10 minute walk from the old town and the port to hop on water taxis and other types of water transportation. The hotel were able to organise a taxi and communicate effectively with the driver to ensure we had nothing to worry about. The whole town of Korcula were extremely friendly and very welcoming. I will definitely return to this hotel and this island in general. Amazing experience, could not fault it.

Hi, there isn’t we took our own kettle and then when we got there we were told that if you asked for it they would be able to provide a kettle. Hope that helps.
Thanks
