Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Excellent friendly service from the owners and even Floyd the dog. This motel is located in a quiet spacious location amongst beautiful trees but really close to town, which gives easy access to restaurants and shops. The units are fresh and clean with good quality kitchen, bathroom and seating areas- including outdoor chairs with a great view of the gardens. The owner was really helpful when one of our number fell ill.

Our group of 7 styed here on Saturday night enroute to walk the Nydia Track. The owners were welcoming and really helpful when I asked if they might have any walking poles I could borrow as I had left mine at the airport. What eventuated were a pair of freshly cut bamboo sticks from the garden, the ends were taped and they were the better than my $100+++ pair! They were really helpful in also storing our luggage while we were on the walk. A lovely place to stay

I totally recommend a stay at this motel. The location of the units is set back from the road and so it is safe for kids and really quiet. The lady who greeted us was awesome and so lovely. She made sure we knew where everything was. The rooms were really lovely. We used one of their bbq’s which was great. You cannot go wrong with this motel.

We arrived early as we were going on the Pelorus Sounds mail boat. They let us put our bags in our room before going which put our minds at ease about the security of our stuff. Nothing was too much trouble and the room was lovely and clean and had everything we could want. The bed was really comfortable and we were snug and warm. Great value for money

Having a little more time to make the ferry in the morning meant that we were able to look at accommodation a little further away from Picton. We opted for Havelock and the Havelock Garden Motel.
The motel owners were really nice on the phone and when we arrived, the welcome was really warm. The venue is amazing; so peaceful and garden/park-like. The units are really nicely decorated, with quality fittings. Really comfortable and well equipped too.
The location is very convenient. It is close to a range of restaurants/food sources. And it is less than an hour to the ferry at Picton. Plus, it is pet friendly!
We will be back.

The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful and its central location meant that the 2 excellent restaurants and the supermarket were very near. The rooms are well equipped but quite small; we had a one bed cabin for the 2 of us and we should perhaps have chosen a 2 bed for more room. Unfortunately the laundry facilities were not working well; the washing machine had only cold water and the dryer was out of action. This didn't matter very much at the time since there was a large washing line and the weather was warm and dry but, had it been raining, this would have been a real problem - hence the 4 stars only. It was a quiet and pretty location despite being central to the village.

Beautifully kept family-run motel in a tranquil, leafy setting. The hosts are very welcoming and helpful, going the extra mile and we felt at home straight away. All village shops, food places, marina, are right outside the front gate but there's no traffic sound because it's set well back from the road up a short drive. The units are well appointed with parking right outside the door. We had three brief stays over 2 weeks, and check in and check out was very easy. We would stay there again and highly recommend.

Lovely traditional Kiwi motel. Very spacious and spotlessly clean. Set well back off the main highway, but 2 minutes walk to the shops and restaurants. Plenty of parking and very helpful hosts. The ducklings were a delight strolling around with motherduck.
Excellent location if you are doing the mail boat trip, the owners allowed us to leave our car there for the day of the trip, then just a 10 minute walk to the boat.

We were very fortunate to have been recommended to stay at The Havelock Garden Motel. The owners Kirsa & Steve go over and beyond to ensure your stay is enjoyable and comfortable. The rooms are spotlessly clean, with everything you need and in such an idyllic setting, which is well positioned, close to all amenities and pleasant walks. We had the misfortune to leave some items which Kirsa kindly forwarded on to us, thank you so much. The next time we are in the area we will undoubtedly book to stay here again.

An amazing motel, set in a gorgeous garden. Extremely friendly and helpful owners of the motel. These are large and roomy, central in Havelock. We were able to leave our car there for a couple of nights whilst away tramping, really appreciate knowing that they were secure. We will definitely stay here again. Thanks
