After 5 hours on the track from Kaiuma Bay, the lodge looked like heaven and proved to be pretty close. Warm welcome, hot tub, cleanest loos and showers, good food, reasonably priced Marlborough beer and wine - $35 for a five year old Stanley pinot noir My room even overlooked the sea. Well done Art, Helen and family, assisted by Victor and Ariane, in creating and sharing your Paradise. Oh and the track is fabulous too - the very kind Jo offered a lift so was able to complete journey to Duncan Bay.

Our one night stay at the lodge was not enough to fully enjoy the peaceful atmosphere created at this pristine spot by Ariane and Victor. The units as well as the common spaces were spotless and at the same time welcoming and homey.
Unfortunately we didn't time our trip well with the tides, which meant we couldn't make use of the water toys.
It was a real treat not to have to carry in our food, as what was provided for us was perfect and we were able to prepare it to our liking.
Perfect place to stop on the Nydia Bay track.

My wife and I, Aucklanders, stayed 3 nights at the lodge on our first visit to the Marlborough Sounds during peak summer holiday after a crazy busy stressful 2020 - 2 nights in a lower chalet room and 1 night in the train carriage.
The lovely lodge grounds are isolated from the busy world (no TV, internet, work email, mobile reception, cars, COVID announcements, lists of must do things, shops, museums, tourist buses) at the far end of a beautiful bush clad bay.
The lodge works it’s magic on your soul after a full day of unplugged relaxing reading the interesting lodge library books, a few board and card games, people and farm animal watching and chats with the other guests, some short day walks in the garden, around the bay in the bush, kayaking on the Pelorus sound and star gazing in the hut tub.
We arranged a water taxi from Havelock to explore the Pelorus sound a bit and get us there and back rather than walking the Nydia trail. Will also suit trampers who want to enjoy billionaire treatment and cooked meals with new friends for two nights of luxury in a beautiful place for a change rather than a basic shelter bunk bed. The lodge exceeded both of our high expectations. You will regret only staying one night just to finish two days of 5 hour walks.

This lodge will make you feel like you have found your own piece of paradise. Although you are situated right in the sounds and away from all the hustle and bustle you have everything you need at your fingertips without any need to 'rough it'. Comfortable , clean , quirky accommodation with comfy beds, awesome showers and toilets , chill out spaces inside and out so that you do not feel on top of any other guests. The food (breakfast lunch and dinner) is home cooked and amazing and you will not go hungry! This is my second trip and won't be my last.

This is such a gorgeous and quirky place to stay. We stayed in one of the railway carriages which was so unique and very comfortable. We had our own private bathroom in there but the shared bathrooms are something special! The biggest treat of all after our walk was Adrian making us a coffee and bringing us one of Kayla’s homemade cakes. Perfect hosts and exactly what we needed. We carried all our own food (although the food on offer smelled delicious!) and the kitchen facilities, bbq and pizza oven were excellent. Having alcohol available for purchase was another treat. I could definitely have stayed an extra night to make the most of the hot tub and kayaks. Next time!

A slice of paradise! We stayed for two nights, using the local water taxi as transport which uses a jetty with an easy 15 minute walk around the shoreline on a good track. There are various forms of accommodation to choose from with an option to suit everyone. The beds are super comfy and I slept like a log. The lodge is well set up with heaps of seating areas in different parts of the large verandah and gardens, where you can hide away or chat with other guests. The food was amazeballs and plenty for even the most hungry of appetites. You are also able to purchase snacks , soft drinks , etc . The dawn chorus was awesome and the wood pigeons and tuis abundant in the garden. We wished we could stay longer and will be back with a group of friends next time.

We stayed two nights while walking the Nydia Track. We had an enjoyable experience. It's a very nice way to take a break at the half-way point, as a change from tramping huts. The lodge itself is comfortable, quirky and interesting, right by the lake, and there is free equipment such as kayaks. On the plus side the hosts were welcoming, genuine and knowledgeable, creating a relaxing and friendly atmosphere. On the downside, the catering was a little costly but still great and convenient, acknowledging the high cost of transporting everything in and out by boat. It's recommended and we would definitely stay again.

The lodge itself was very nice!:-) lovely build and very cozy. There is central heating all through the cabins and a log fire in the main building. We booked dinner and breakfast, which I would not do again, as it was very basic and not special at all, especially the dinner was disappointing.

This place is so perfect one night is nowhere enough. Stay two or more like I did and really savour the experience. After a day’s hike, you’ll really appreciate the warm welcome and luxurious accommodation.
The buildings are striking - lovingly constructed from native timbers.
Kayla and Adrian greeted me warmly on arrival and produced coffee and cake that I enjoyed as I gazed across the beautifully tended garden to the forested hills beyond. A great start!
My upstairs chalet was superb with pastoral and forest views from every window, a very comfortable bed, seating, and a good selection of reading material.
Adrian provided me with tips on things to do and see on my day ‘off’ which included a couple of lovely walks, time in the library, a soak in the hot tub and a wander round the vegetable garden.
I self-catered in the well appointed kitchen though could also have chosen to have meals prepared for me. I appreciated having the choice.
There are lots of spaces you can retreat to here if you’re seeking solitude, though I also enjoyed chatting to some of the other guests in the evening.
Thank you to Kayla and Adrian for making my stay so special.

I got the Explorer Package which covered Nydia Track transportation, 2 nights accom and all meals.

On the Track Lodge is the perfect place to stay while completing the Nydia Track (or for some R&R if you come by boat). Literally right on the track and right on Nydia Bay, its location is excellent and the facilities really quite impressive. Several different room/accommodation types to suit solo travellers like me, as well as couples, groups, families. The bathrooms were both beautiful and clean. No queuing. The main building was really welcoming and well equipped. The provided meals were delicious and filling, catering to everyone's dietary requirements and there was plenty to go round. Lots of outdoor seating for soaking up the sun. Very well stocked drinks fridge and snack basket. Hot tub. Fire pit. No phone reception or wifi so you really do relax!

Don't have a bad word to say about the experience! Really, really impressive - Spud's doing a fantastic job.
