Enjoy hiking the stunning Nydia Track (2 day hike). On The Track Lodge is situated halfway on the track in a remote paradise with no road access. With fantastic lodge accommodation, this is a perfect stop over for 1 or more nights

On the track lodge is a unique experience, but one that shouldn't be missed. The accommodation is clean, functional, and updated. All meals and snacks are provided and the food is cooked fresh to a very high standard. Hosts are warm and make the experience very homely. Would recommend to couples, families, or anyone happy to do the 12km hike in. This was a highlight of our NZ trip.

We had a great stay at the On the Track Lodge. Warren and Carleen were welcoming, and it was great to have the options of a hot tub and massage after a day of walking. The food was homestyle, yummy and plentiful and it was good to be able to buy a beverage after the hike. I highly recommend a night or two at the lodge when walking the Nydia track.

Fab walk, bush and scenery a delight. Saw Weka Kereru and eels along the way. Accommodation was excellent, lots to do or nothing at all. Your choice. Host Spud was chilled out like a nice cold beer. Transfers were on time. The food was good and we would highly recommend the experience of On the Track.

Wow - we experienced the most generous and heart-warming welcome staying here, with wonderful hospitality shown by the legend, Spud. We tramped in from Kaimai Bay with our daughters aged 13 and 5 and Spud was waiting at the entrance when we arrived after a loooong day! We then enjoyed a delicious meal with Spud accommodating the youngest eater too. Our day off included relaxing in the hammock (Miss 13) while we borrowed the kayaks and paddled across the stunning bay to Bonsai Island (so we've been told!) and visited the DoC hut to enjoy our packed lunches. Yet another lovely evening then a kind farewell as we headed off towards Duncan Bay. We desperately needed a break from some tough challenges and thanks to Spud we arrived home refreshed and happy and with so many great memories and the girls asking to get back into the bush ASAP. Thanks Spud from the bottom of our hearts x …

When down to the Sounds for a long weekend. Left our vehicle at Havelock Marina (was perfectly safe). Took a water taxi to the Lodge. Our driver, Brownie, was brilliant and he offered me a job! Unbelievable views coasting into the Nydia Bay and up to the Lodge. Spud was awesome! Really welcomed us and made us feel at home. Catered for our dietary needs and the food was spectacular! Lovely spot. The Lodge is beautiful! Nice, clean and simple rooms in the chalets. I really enjoyed the hammocking in the afternoon sun! Very peaceful and lots of smaller walks around the bay (don't forget to see Morris). Nice to have a cold beer when you got back to the Lodge too! Really enjoyed our stay there! Thanks for the great weekend Spud!!

We enjoyed every moment staying at the lodge. We were welcomed in by the lovely hosts with carrot cake muffins and ice cold drinks. It was such a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The food was amazing and the lodge was just what we needed. Worth the walk to get there and feel lucky to have experienced this wonderful place.
