Detailed Reviews
This is a most welcoming B&B.
Don't be put off by the roadside sign and the very steep gravel track that seems to lead to nowhere.
Bite the bullet and take the track. What you find at the top is a most wonderful accomodation with very friendly and helpful hosts.
We found the accomodation to be excellent. The views from the site are absolutely stunning.
If you do visit make sure you explore the albeit short track through their own bush adjacent to the property full of beautiful tree ferns. Just two minutes from the house and you could be in total wilderness.
If you like fishing be sure to ask your hosts when booking and take an extra day there as Theo has his own boat and, if asked, would gladly take you on a sea fishing expedition.
Unfortunately we only had a short stay so could not take advantage of this offer. Maybe next time.
If you wish to eat out--- the Slip inn in Havelock serves excellent food, especially Friday night which is STEAK NIGHT. Two wonderful fillet steak dinners cooked to perfection for only $20! An absolute bargain.PS forgot to mention their little dog who loves to do pirouettes for you.

Friendly hosts. House in an elevated, very quiet position with wonderful views. Comfortable B&B room with en-suite shower. They also have a self contained unit which would be good for a family. Pretty garden and veranda.

Pelorus Heights combines a convenient location, a beautiful view, spacious and private accommodation, great home-style food (both breakfast and dinner) and some cuddly sheep with (above all) welcoming and heartfelt hospitality. All for a very reasonable price. It's ideal for families with small kids. We regretted having booked the ferry for the next day...

On a wet, windy day we wound our way up the drive to Pelorus Homestay and found what was like another world. Ginny and Theo gave us a warm welcome and showed us to our delightful room. We relaxed in the lounge and looked at the amazing views before eating a delicious meal of fresh fish with our hosts. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good enough to explore so hopefully it will be next time! Thank you for Ginny and Theo making us so welcome in your beautiful home.

We planned to to use this home for our overnight pit stop from Wellington on our way to Christchurch. We stayed for two nights. We wish we had more time to explore the area and enjoy the home environment. We were welcome with warmth and joy by Ginny & Theo. They gave us their home grown vegetable and strawberries. We cooked our dinner on their outdoor BBQ and they took us out on their fishing boat for the day. It was one of the highlight of our 3 weeks holiday in NZ! My husband and 6 year old son loved the endless bays and marvelous fishing . We highly recommend this for family or couples who wish to stay in the area for a real Kiwi experience. I loved the house for spacious area where my kid can run around and the little touch Ginny & Theo put everywhere. We definitely will return!

We stayed here for 2 nights in early February, and were very impressed by the well-equipped and comfortable unit. Ginny is a welcoming host who has provided everything the traveller might want, and the unit is very tastefully decorated. The farm location, while close to the lovely town of Havelock, is ideal. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it, especially for overseas visitors who want to experience some real Kiwi hospitality.

Had a great stay at Pelorus Heights. It's pretty close to Havelock but when you're on the property it feels like the middle of nowhere (in a good way). Wendy and Tim were perfect hosts, very friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious and clean. We picked up some mussels at The Mussel Pot in Havelock and enjoyed them with a bottle of white wine in our room. The hotels in Havelock proper seemed pretty standard fare, but Pelorus Heights has its own charm that makes it worth the extra few minutes it takes to drive out of town.

Pelorus Heights is excellent accommodation. It is a picturesque and quiet country location and Ginny and Theo are extremely welcoming hosts. We were sorry we could not stay any longer than one night. We totally recommended this homestay.

Ginny and Theo are such friendly hosts and gave us a lovely, warm welcome as did Millie, their long haired Jack Russell. Breakfasts prepared by Theo included home grown tomatoes and their free range eggs were delicious. Pelorus Heights is a lovely location to relax.

We couldn't have asked for better hosts or accommodation! Ginny and Theo are delightful and nothing was a bother. The accommodation was clean, bright, spacious and very comfortable. LOVED it and want to go back!
