Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There’s a nice relaxed atmosphere here where we spent three nights. It was the cheapest of the four motels we stayed in and the most basic as far as the room was concerned, but I would thoroughly recommend it. The owners are nice and relaxed, the place is kept spotless and the big surprise is a lovely swimming pool which you can have almost to yourself a lot of the time. Although more basic the rioom was very comfortable and everything worked! Would go back.

Like many, we stayed here after the Mail Boat Run, and have no regrets. Initially thinking the prices were a bit higher than would have been expected in a small NZ town, we changed our mind on arrival. Quite a big place, lots of rooms, but very quiet and private. Definitely enjoyed the spa and swimming pools. Located on the main street, maybe 4 minute walk to the three or four restaurants, so ideally located. The Mail Boat is probably a 8-10 minute walk away, so we parked there instead. Recommended, no hesitation in staying here again.

Stayed just one night in a one bedroom apartment. The owner was very helpful and friendly, happily showed us through the apartment before we decided to stay. The apartment was immaculately clean and had everything we needed. King size bed in separate room. Big en-suite bathroom with spa bath. Nice lounge and kitchen area and good kitchen. Bed was very comfy and had a great sleep. Not noisy at all despite being on the main road. Would be very happy to recommend this to all as a reasonably priced decent place to stay.

Great motel located close to town so you can walk to restaurants, bakery and to wharf for mail boat cruise. The room is simple but clean and well maintained. Had full Sky TV and a lovely pool and hot tub. All round, thus is an excellent place to stay in Havelock.

So close to everything, Comfortable room and beds, good shower and well equipped kitchen. Laundry on site and nice to have the use of a clothes line. The pool was the best - great size and temperature. Perfect place for us to stay.

Check-in was welcoming. Our unit was not overly large but comfortable enough for 2 adults. There was a kitchenette with fridge, microwave and hot plate.....quite well equipped. Free wifi and parking is available is available. This was a budget unit and reasonable value for money.

We stayed here over a weekend and were allocated one of the older units.

Although it was an older unit the bed and facilities were ok but the decor and fittings in the bathroom were tired and needed replacing.

Strangley the towels were replaced after the first night but the room was not serviced.

Overall, for the price it was ok and as we did not spend much time in the room the dated decor was not an issue.

Friendly staff and a central location made this an adequate place to stay whilst exploring the sights and activities in this fabulous town.

We stopped overnight here on our way from the West Coast to Picton. The pool was lovely after a day's travelling, and the unit was comfortable. We had trouble getting a picture on the TV, but the staff came and fixed it promptly. Overall, very good value.
