The service was excellent from the minute we arrived, all offered by the Owners. Car problems and hotels in the area closed due to Covid-19, led us to the Chateau. We were sorry it was just an overnight. Our room was nicely redone, with all the amenities and good view of the grounds. The complimentary coffee was a good treat to fight the cold night. WIFI was very good and we were able to charge our EV. At an additional charge, we had breakfast in the main castle, which offered a wide range of items for everyone. Only thing we did not like was the cold room. It would have been nicer if the heater had been on for our arrival. It took a while to heat up. We will make an effort to go back and stay longer. This is an ideal place for a romantic get away or family trip.
This was an amazing experience from the moment we drove up to the beautifully lit chateau, and were met in the drive. Our bags were carried up for us to a beautifully and historically appointed, comfortable and spacious room. Dinner was not served at the restaurant that evening, and we had purchased some fruit, cheese and wine. The owner graciously offered to set a table for us in the breakfast room, with beautiful dishes and wine glasses and an opener. It was most romantic!
It was difficult to make choices at breakfast, with so many fresh and delicious options!
The grounds are gorgeous, and we enjoyed walking outside, seeing the statue and the beautiful little hidden spots there. It is not often that we get to stay somewhere that actually has a moat surrounding it!
The owners are approachable, speak English, are friendly and go out of their way to accommodate. They could not have been any more hospitable.
The history of this home is incredible, and the grandmother of the owner was discussed at our tour of Chateau Fontainbleu. Her picture was on the tour, and the same picture hung in our room.
If you enjoy authenticity and hospitality, this is the place for you! It was beautifully furnished, very comfortable, and clean. The owners are very friendly and will make you feel welcome.
Staying here is like living in a fairy tale! A gorgeous chateau kept up by very personable owners who make an effort to greet you daily, and an efficient staff. Thank you to delightful Angeline for all of her assistance! She is happy to help with dinner reservations and other needs.
We found the gate and button to call the chateau with a little luck. It is hidden until you know it is there. Make sure you know the GPS address to find it! The chateau resembles so many of the large chateau in the area and yet you have your own private stay! You can pull right up to the front to unload and then there is a nice parking area not far away. They have an elevator to assist with the stairs.
Our superior bedroom on the third floor was beautifully decorated with space to unpack, comfortable bed, and a beautifully updated bathroom with a shower and a claw foot tub. Towels were fluffy as well as the soft bathrobes. Lovely toiletries. We loved our corner room with windows and views on two sides!
The chateau and our building was over half filled and yet we rarely saw or heard anyone else. We thoroughly enjoyed the outside seating to enjoy wine and cheese overlooking the acreage. There is a lovely reading room but we didn’t have time to use it. We did enjoy our free bicycles and meandered around the large acreage, appreciating the beautiful statues, tree lined avenues and the moat.
The bedrooms in the separate house look lovely and they have a den area and outside seating as well.
Breakfast was a large and delicious buffet. Breakfast was lovely in the dining rooms with windows out the front and back of the chateau. Coffee, tea and fruit were left out 24/7. There is a small refrigerator in the dining room for guest’s use which we did appreciate.
We used the Chateau to visit some of the lovely nearby towns. It was an absolute pleasure to stay in this area. Dinner was fabulous at the 3 restaurants at which we dined very close by! We would come back here anytime. Highly recommend!
We were delighted with our stay at this unique property in the charming town of Bourron Marlotte. It is the ideal location for a visit to Fontainebleau and the incomparable Vaux le Vicomte. If you're looking for a quiet stay in an elegant chateau, behind it's own moat, in a private, verdant park, then this is the place for you. If you're looking for CNN on your TV and a mini bar in your room, then this is not the place for you.
Loved my visit here -- great family run hotel, great hospitality, nice room, beautiful grounds. Really worth a visit if you are in the area. Although there is no restaurant in the hotel, there is an excellent one (Les Premices) almost on the property.
