Our family has been going to Wavecrest for over forty years. I was happy to visit the hotel for four days this last week. The staff are so friendly and it is good to see that many of them have stayed for many years and are still there. The food was really excellent, with options for our vegan group member. Staff and management were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The river was beautiful, with plenty of birds to see and some good fishing. Rock and surf fishing was also excellent, with plenty of rock pool life to explore at low tide. A really amazing place for nature lovers, fishermen, birders and anybody that appreciates peace and beauty. All in all a great stay.

We spent a lovely mini weekend away here in the self-catering cottage just alongside the main hotel.
There was ample space for 2 families to be accommodated. The facilities are very basic, but that is all one needs when on holiday in the Wild Coast.
We were also supplied with ample braai wood for our nightly braais, as well as bonfires, much to the delight of the kids!
Sean, the assistant manager, was most helpful and at our beck and call in time of need (with specific reference to boating and fishing incidences!)
We were allowed to use the hotel's facilities, which has an excellent spa, swimming pool and jacuzzi!
One can also book meals at the hotel and have drinks at the bar.
Overall, a fantastic family getaway, which is not too far from PE, with fairly good roads all the way to the resort.

I just want to let people know that the reviews of "poor" is realy true. Sometimes people do not do the effort to write there review.

It is totaly over priced.
Totaly run down.
Staff is realy not friendly. Especialy the bar lady and waitresses. They do you a "favour" to help you.
The food is realy bad.
The water in the rooms stink. You can not wash youself with this water.
There is no boat cruises, no spa. The pool outside on the deck is dirty. The jacuzzi on the deck was empty.

We also cut our stay short.

To drive so far and paid so mutch money, is not worth it.
Please avoid to stay if you can.

Although the nature is realy beautiful. It is realy a pitty that the accommodation is so poor.

We had a great family holiday at Wavecrest, and it's everything you expect from a hotel in the "Transkei." The location is remote, the setting is beautiful and unspoilt. If you're expecting 5 star accommodation, you will be disappointed, but this is not claiming to be a 5 star hotel. The staff are all very helpful and friendly, and deserve all the praise they get from previous reviews. Do take a walk/trail run in the forests. We made use of all the amenities, tennis court, squash court, kayaks, hot tub and pool. The tennis court could do with a new net though, we used stretchie ties and a stick to prop it up. The food is "homely" and the kitchen we all too obliging in preparing our catch-of-the-day. You definitely can't go hungry. Thumbs up, we will be back

We had a wonderful time at Wavecrest. I have 2 children under the age of 3 and the staff and the kitchen made it so easy for me as a mom. We love the nature element and the jacuzzi and pool. Wonderful family quality time. Definitely value for money and a great get away!
