We had the honor to be guests at Poronui Lodge for 4 nights. My husband and I took part in the hunting that Poronui has to offer. What an amazing experience to be paired with such a wonderful hunting guide like, Mark. He went above and beyond to make our experience the best vacation and hunting experience we have ever had. Not only was the hunting an amazing experience in their beautiful breathtaking countryside, but the whole staff is 5 star in my book. The food was absolutely delicious and the wine overflowed. There were always wonderful baked goods to snack on between beautiful meals. Our room was always fresh and clean. The accommodations were perfect. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an overall wonderful stay and play vacation!

Poronui is an outdoors Gem.
Spectacular access to great fly fishing, hiking and biking . The service level is personal and delightful with a genuine concern to make sure all your needs are looked after and your experience is world class.
The Guides for all activities are knowledgeable and top of their fields.
Accommodation is nice and functional , but this is not a place where you want to stay in your room. There is much to do and a haven for the outdoors.
The food is as good as you will find in any exclusive foody lodge and it’s plentiful.
The staff and management ensure you will have. Wonderful stay.
It’s easy to see why many international guests have been returning year after year.
We will be back soon.

This is a lovely lodge. We stayed in a high end "cabin" but it is much too nice to be called a cabin. There was a living room with comfy leather chairs, gaslit fireplace, desk, and refrigerator stocked with local wine. The high speed internet was very reliable. The personal deck has an amazing view of a fast moving rapid river sending soothing sounds up to you to relax and enjoy the scenery. The large bedroom had all the needed amenities, including ensuite, robes/slippers, and lovely scented toiletries. Quite, peaceful and comfortable.

The main lodge where you can sit and relax by the fire, eat your meals or have a snack, is a traditional hunting lodge feel. Warm and cozy. Food was good, fresh with homemade baking made before your eyes in the open kitchen format. There is one long dining table so you will get to meet other guests. There are helicopters taking off and landing for various adventures throughout the day.

We would highly recommend this for a peaceful getaway or fishing/hunting experience.

We went to Poronui Lodge with our adult sons, both fly fishing enthusiasts. The resort covers 16,000 acres of rollling hills, beautiful rivers, forests and hiking trails. Fishing on private water is carefully managed so that no beat is over-fished. The water is pristine, the browns and rainbows are big and healthy, fairly easy to locate, especially with help, and can be difficult to land, most often on dries when we were there. We fished four days, usually arriving by short helicopter ride, not one river twice, all different, all beautiful. The guides were as professional as one could imagine, very amusing, friendly and sincerely enthusiastic. The resort itself is attractive and comfortable, the staff is professional and friendly, the dining room is informal but very good. The place is well managed. We were there for the first time, but most of the rest were repeat guests. We've been to many fly fishing resorts around the world -- for variety, beauty, challenge -- this was the best.

To say this lodge is fantastic and incredible would be an understatement. This is a truly dedicated facility whose entire working model is centered around creating the ultimate New Zealand vacation. For me, I am a fishing addict, always on the look-out for my next trip of a life-time... and I found it. The entire staff at Poronui are strictly top of the line and Class A+, from the amazing guides to the phenomenal chefs. From the joy exuded by the meal serving staff to the gracious in-room cleaning crew, this happy angler could have asked for little more..... Top this with some of the most beautiful wilderness destinations, especially those on property, I have ever seen and you might get just a hint of insight into why I am smitten with this amazing property and staff. Thank you to all of the folks at Poronui Lodge for giving me a life-time of memories. I can see why most of the guests I met there over the week have been coming back, year after year, for decades.
