The people who stayed at the Hostel made my time really good, but I cannot say the same from the owners.
The facilities are always dirty, bathrooms, kitchen, especially rooms, I always vacuumed and did my bed by myself every week in the room and also put rubbish bag and fragance because they never doing them work. Everytime I ask for cleaning my room, I had to do it by myself. They don't know how to manage a hostel.
They also don't allow people who stayed before in the accommodation to visit us after they left.

Stayed 3 nights and used it as a jumping off point for Abel Tasman NP. The room was good, the showers and kitchen were heavily used and the fridges had not been cleaned in ages. Good value and the owner is delightful and we found the overall experience to be good

I stayed in a private room here, but considering the ruckus on the weekend I heard, I imagine I might have been pretty disturbed in a dorm room.
The bed was horrible- I’ve only had worse at
one other place. And the window had no screen but it was very hot weather and no fan in the room, so it was either roast from heat or get eaten by bugs all night.
I liked how much space the place offered for common living- lots of couches, a game room and yard. Decent amount of kitchen stuff too- lots of utensils.
This hostel seemed to be a place where a lot of people lived. Big groups of French and German people were filling the kitchen almost 24/7 loudly talking and playing music. The kitchen was often left very dirty. Many people seemed to be waiting around for fruit picking jobs. Definitely a place for very young adults, not families or anyone over 25. Not my favorite vibe as someone who wanted something more chill like most of the holiday parks I’ve stayed at.

The three of us had booked one twin room and one dorm bed. Upon arrival we could smell the mould already in the office. The unfriendly woman checking us in didn't have any interest in showing us the facilities, she just gave us the keys and complained how she hadn't slept the night before. The twin room beds had dirty, stained duvet covers, absolutely disgusting. Both rooms were terrible stuffy and so was the dark, gloomy corridor. The shower hose was broken and leaked. Because it turns off after 5 minutes you might have to change shower unless you have had time to rinse. Two small hooks and a tiny bench in the shower - worse than at a communal campground. Needless to say, we did not want to spend any more time here than absolutely necessary. We booked another clean, fresh accommodation instead and cancelled both nights. The same reception woman handled our complaint very unprofessionally and said that the cleaner had missed to clean the twin room. There was no apology, no refund, no consideration.

Stayed in this hostel after hiking at the Abel Tasman. Cute hostel. Big kitchen area. Pool table. I got my own room because the guys I was traveling with had some snoring issues. The room was big enough for me and my luggage where I didn’t feel cramped. Would definitely stay here again.
