We checked in May 15,2019 at 4pm and upon checking the pool, found out it was too dirty and sandy at the bottom part. I told Rose Calventas, the hotel rep if she can have it cleaned, she said they can't and the person in charge of cleaning is not available and just use the beach. I said when the last time it was used and she said yesterday maam because we have a lot of guests. I literally flared up and told her so what do you think of us? not guests? I told her, you demanded for a full payment which i did last 30th of April and the amenities i paid is inclusive of the use of swimming pool, i said this was not acceptable, we came here all the way from mkna just to see dirty pool, i was very furious and disappointed asking for the manager or the Owner of the hotel, and she said their family is on tour...i said... oh so the more that you're not maintaining the pool well because your boss is not around )how long would it take the person to clean this pool? she said 30 minutes maam...then, call him now and have it cleaned because i will really post this and email your boss". I even took photos of the dirty pool...Good thing after 30 minutes, the cleaner came and finished it by 8pm, we were able to use it by that time and even talked to another guest who told me when they came at 1pm, she even asked Rose to have the pool cleaned but did not mind her request until we came and got mad at Rose, that's the only time that she called the person. In fairness, breakfast included was good, the beach which they did not own was really beautiful and the scenic views around it we really enjoyed and the room was really beautiful and the bathroom, way high of my expectation but i never had an experience like this, we paid for a beach and pool only to find out a pool that looks like a pond..put waterlilies and leaves, you have an indoor pond! To top it all Rose never said sorry maam...Let this be a lesson to the staff of Apo Idon, not to relax and pay attention to whatever notes they had there and remind the guests to maintain cleanliness and take a shower first before using the pool, not everybody will take it sitting down....not me!
My family and I stayed here for 3 days to see the beauty of Pagudpud. Staff were very friendly, accomodating and helpful. Loved the hotel vibe when we arrived.. it was like countryside with a hint of island feel.. it was refreshing...
Room was spacious (6pax, 3 full beds in our room). Fridge not working. Our room's bath/shower room needs updating though; No tissue roll, shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer. Had to request for a shower curtain for the shower area...
I was looking forward for some fresh fish, crab, shrimp and sea urchin during pur meals but they did not have any during our stay. Pool was too cold and it would have been nice if water was like hot spring water. Overall, hotel and beach front was awesome. We enjoyed our stay and we look forward going back again in the future.
Needs improvement: bathroom toiletries, sheets/linen/towels, meal choices and availability of any fresh seafood daily.
Strengths: hotel ambiance, staff, awesome beach front, beautiful beach line and sand
We were here last May 2009 or 2010(i know its already 8 years ago) From Tarlac city to Pagudpud is 11 to 13 hours. Nice white beach sand. I was also in the mini pool of Apo Idon and i dont like thier pool. Its seems its not clean, but we dont have choice because we arrived 9 pm that time the beach is too dark for us so me and my nephew decided to swim on thier pool. We stayed only for a day. The staffs were good. I hope this will help still for the tourists and the hotel management. Much love! Godbless us all.
We didnt stay in this hotel because it is expensive for our budget we rather splurge on our food thus when we Are in pagudpud we always eat here. Their dining area has a nice view of the beach. The food is good and good to share almost the same price as the other resto in the area. Their pinakbet is one of the best that i ate. They have a free wifi. The hotel interior is beautiful they are one of the 2 resorts that have a small swimming pool. They also offer complimentary breakfast when you avail their rooms.
Apo Idon Beach Resort can boast for its fantastic beach front location. Their restaurant is overlooking the white sandy shore. The resort is not that huge but definitely designed with this homey-feel and also well-maintained. The rooms are clean and cozy. The arrangement of the beds are just perfect especially when booking for bigger rooms because they really allocate space for you to walk around.
Things I like:
-BEACHFRONT!!!! (no rocks.. just pure white sand and clear waters.. oh, and a little bit of seaweeds floating when the sun is setting)
-the place isn't infested with vendors unlike boracay... it's really serene!
-resort's lighting is very nice. it gives this romantic-homey feel.
-they have a restaurant (the adobong pusit and binagoongang bagnet is a must try, but their breakfast is not so special)
-they have a small pool for night swimming (but the water wasn't that clean when we were there)
-our room was comfortable for 6adults and 3kids (superior triple double for 6.5k/night-no breakfast included though)
-staffs are very friendly and accommodating
improvements on:
-restaurant service: it took like almost an hour for them to prepare our dinner. 20-30mins waiting time is reasonable, but more than that is just not cool for travelers.
-cleanliness: we had breakfast on the patio area right below the balcony and we found a mouse dropping on one of the food which was served. I don't know if it came from the kitchen or it fell from above. Anyway, my brother lost his appetite and they didn't charge that specific plate on us.
-towels: guests go here to swim so it's just right to have absorbent "cotton" towels. The towels provided here were like woven fabric used for table runners. Just bring your own.
-shower head's "spray" (not the water supply) was too weak to the point that it'll take you time to rinse off.
To sum it up, the place is wonderful considering the price of it for my group size.
UPDATE: they have recently updated their FB page so they are now accepting reservations and bookings thru that account.
