Great location, quiet as it is set back from the back (about 150m) but very easy to walk or cycle everywhere. It took us less than 10mins to walk to the port and about 3 mins to cycle it.
The accommodation was great. I have 2 teens and as there were 3 beds (2 doubles and a generous day bed) in the room, we all had enough sleeping space and there was no need to swap who slept where!
The breakfast was very generous and after the 1st morning we didn't order everything we could have because it was just too much food. They are connected to a bigger beach hotel and there is a room service menu that was great for the couple of times we didn't feel like going out again.
Staff were lovely and although most didn't have much English, they always got someone who speak to me.
My daughter accidentally left her necklace there and 24hrs after leaving I emailed them and they found it and are doing their best to return it to me the safest way.
I would very happily stay there again.
Lovely bathrooms, my shower had hot water.

PROS: large breakfast to order served on patio. Comfortable clean room and spacious patio with coffee/tea makings. Strong AC. We stayed in family room which had 1 large bed and 2 medium beds, plenty of room! They set up a lovely baby cot on our arrival as well. Slightly inland, only a few quick min walk to ocean. Quiet. Allowed for late check out.

CONS: staff with extremely limited English and not there until 7:15 in the am. We did not have hot water for >12 hours and finally asked to use an empty room to shower before we checked out. They could not provide us with any local recommendations due to the communication barrier. Pool was refreshing but somewhat opaque, could use more regular cleaning.

A really beautiful place, with 8 bungalows / studios around a Green garden with the pool in the middle. A huge familiary atmosphere surronds the hotel.

Room 5/5
We were staying in room 4, and I guess the rooms differs in size. Our room was quite small, but not too small. In the room there is a queen sized bed and some other furniture. Biggest pro here is the 25liter water tank which offers both gold and hot water.
The bathroom is located on the backside of the building, and is kind of semi outdoors. There is walls and roof except for the shiwering area were the roof is missing, thus creating a cozy atmosphere. One thing worth to mention is there is no hot water, or cold for that matter. I quess the water is temperated based on the sun, thus the temperature in the shower is not regulatable.
In the front there is a quite large porch, with a sofa on each side and a table in the middle, this is the place where the breakfast is served (breakfast is ordered like roomservice). All porches have view over the pool.

Breakfast 4/5
The breakfast menu is not big. But includes pretty much everything you might want. There are 5 different kinds of eggs. Lots of different juices (which are really good, tastes like the real deal), toast, yoghurt, fruits and pancakes. Overall a good breakfast, and you get alot! The reson it does not get a full 5/5 is due everything they fry, it is to little. The eggs are runny, and the pancakes lackes color.

Cleanliness 5/5
In our stay i had nothing to remark on regarding the cleanliness, in other words I was satisfied.

Location 5/5
The island is too small to have a bad location. But the ocean is a few minutes walk a way and the harbour is a few more minutes away (not far). There are restaurant all over the island, thus not more than a minuten walk away. Nightclubs etc where not something we had an intrest in during this stay and not something I payed attention to.

Staff 5/5
Like the most indoneesian people i have met, they are not very good at english but really friendly. They helped us with a smile regardless the problem.

The hotel is really family friendly, alot of kids where in the hotel during our visit.

We stayed here for 6 nights as a family in 3 of the bungalows & we loved it. It felt like are own little paradise, so peaceful & relaxing. The rooms are lovely, the outside bathroom is amazing & the beds outside your room great for an afternoon snooze. The pool is lovely & there is a little pool for the kids. Breakfast is brought to your own bungalow every morning, you order it the night before, great pancakes!

The staff were superb, so friendly & helpful, they couldn’t do enough for us. You can hire bikes from them by reception. It is just off the the main road & peaceful at night.

There is room service for meals, you order at reception & it comes from Chill Out Restaurant.

For some of our family this was their 4th visit to Gili Air Bungalows, we highly recommend this place.

Wonderfully peaceful and relaxing accommodation!

Location:
The bungalows are situated about 3-400m from the pier. Take an immediate right followed by a left, after a few metres, and walk directly up the main high street towards the middle of the island (lots of restaurants, diving schools and supermarkets) and follow the road around to the right. The Bungalows will be placed on the left hand side of the road (approximately 50-100m after the road bends). Unfortunately, we caught a horse and cart. It took about 3 minutes and cost IDR 150,000 (approximately £9) - the most expensive taxi I've ever taken! It took no longer than a 10minute walk from the pier on the return journey.
Having walked around the island, there is only one, soft white-sanded beach, which is situated on the Eastern part of the island (by Scallwags). The water was great and awesome snorkelling opportunities - well worth it! Although there are nice beaches in other areas, there is certainly a lot of coral. This is only a 5-10minute walk from the bungalows (take a left down the road, followed by a right once you've reached the end).
Lots of restaurants within walking distance.
Approximately, a 20-minute walk to the West of the island where you can view the most incredible sunsets followed by some beach bars and live music.

Rooms:
We were given a large bungalow for 2; which, was comfortable and quiet. We were given a water fountain, which produced both hot and cold water, with an endless supply of Lombok coffee. A nice touch and great idea! We were given a welcome drink on arrival, which was any choice of soft drink.

Pool:
Great setting with a good supply of pool beds.

Breakfast:
Awesome. Firstly, you choose a fresh fruit drink of your choice (banana, watermelon, lime). The lime juice was amazingly refreshing! The first course is either porridge or a fruit salad (banana, papaya, melon). This is followed by eggs cooked to your liking with 2 slices of freshly baked white or brown bread toasted. Breakfast is then finished with a plain or banana pancake with chocolate sauce, honey or sugar. A huge and tasty breakfast, which is delivered to your room once ordered at reception.

Summary:
A wonderful and relaxing property which was great value for money. Although there are a lot of beach front properties; there is usually a public footpath in between the property and the beach, and a lot of the beaches are coral (which I would avoid). The beach is only a 5-10-minute walk and there are plenty of restaurants and a supermarket in close proximity. The owner and staff are very friendly and couldn't do enough to help. The internet is a little slow, but we found it to be slow pretty much everywhere we stayed on Bali and Lombok; not really an issue.

PS bike rental... Approximately 20% of the outer most path around the island is concreted. The rest is sand. Don't be fooled by the amount of bikes on the island (around the main road/port) that you can get around easily - you really can't! It was 34 degrees, not a cloud in the sky, and then you hit the sand. You cannot cycle on the sand. We therefore had to walk the bikes around the remaining 80% of the island - in incredible hot conditions with boiling sand in between your toes. It was not fun! The property does bike rental, if this sounds enjoyable, for IDR 100,000 (£6) per bike for the day.
