This vacation started as a 5 star experience, but deteriorated by the end to the point that we were just ready to go home. My husband and I met 3 couples that all said their experience hadn't been great and we felt so fortunate because, at that point, we had great service!
Then things started to go downhill. We had a reservation at Fuentes Culinary theatre for a special event. I had a picture of the reservation. We show up and they don't have our names on the list. I even showed them the picture and they still turned us away. We ended up at Wine Kitchen for dinner (which ended up being our favorite restaurant!) but our original server was not very attentive (as in, he walked away in the middle of my husband ordering a drink). There must've been a shift change because we ended with a server that was great.
We had another reservation that wasn't communicated a couple of days later.
We were given a candle light dinner for going to presentation. I'm gluten free and was so thankful that the resort offered gluten free bread! However, at the candlelight dinner, we asked for some and it didn't come out until the main course.
None of these issues were horrendous and we would still come back, but for a luxury resort during a time of 30% capacity, I would expect better service and for the ball not to be dropped on things as simple as dinner reservations.

Some adjustments due to COVID were explained to us up front and we were fine those: gym closed, for the mini bar to be restocked, you need to be in your room, so just call the concierge in the morning and someone will come restock.

We loved the bike tour that is an included resort activity and we paid to ride horses at Bonanza Ranch and it was a great activity!

We had an excellent getaway last week (Aug 23-28) at El Dorado Casitas Royale! The food is the absolute best for any all inclusive we've been to and we've been to a bunch. The great thing about traveling during this time is there was always a lawn chair open, drinks were served quick and the restaurants were easy to get in to! The downside was that the main pool and its entertainment, lobby and gym were closed. We still had a great time despite those closures. Shout out to Jovany (bartender at the 2700 pool). He was amazing and always had our drinks ready. Haab waiter JJ was also phenomenal!

This was our second stay at El Dorado Casitas Royale. The first was for our wedding in November in which we had three event functions and 80 guests and were blown out of the water by the professionalism, attention to detail and quality of every single event we had. We were anxious to see what a non-event/ regular vacation was like at the resort and again, our expectations were thoroughly exceeded! Our consierge’s, Maritza and Jaime were super attentive and helped us plan everything. They even made two dinner reservations for us before we arrived to ensure we got the best right from the start. Even though gyms are not open in Mexico yet, we had more activity and workouts than we knew what to do with. Morning yoga everyday with Audi was FABULOUS. Her teaching is incredible! Then outdoor crossfit/ HIIT style workouts beachside with Hugo were amazing and water aerobics and salsa lessons with Josie and Majo kept our afternoons busy. The event staff; Hugo, Josie and Majo really made our trip. From the above activities to beach volleyball, ping pong, and Spanish lessons, they were exceptional and made this trip the extreme fun that it was.

We also thoroughly enjoyed all of the nightly entertainment. The circus show, fire show, bands, magician and Michael Jackson were so professional and entertaining. It felt like we were at a mini Cirque su solei! The dinner theater experience at Fuego with Chef Eduardo, Leo, the MC, Juan the funny character and Uncle Pablo the amazing guitarist/ singer was such an awesome, unexpected addition!!!!

Restaurants- we are also extremely pleased with the food selection at the resort! They have a giant green house and grow all their own vegetables and herbs so the food is always super fresh. Our morning trip to the health bar for homemade juices and smoothies was an everyday routine for us. We love Santa Fe and had a great experience with Jaime and Manuel. D’Italia was also fabulous and Eliezar was an excellent server and helped us with ordering the best on the menu.

Last but not least, our experience in the sales center of Exotic travel with Victor and Gisele was fabulous from the minute we arrived until the minute we left. They helped us with booking the rest of our month in Mexico at the best rates and assisted us in going to their favorite vacation spots.

The experience has been so out-of-this-world that we will be returning in less than a month. The cleanliness, attention to detail and overall royal service is unlike any resort we have been to before. The smiles and desire of the staff to make everyone’s stay the absolute best is apparent in every single encounter. We love all of you at El Dorado Royale and Generations! Muchas gracias se sus amigos, Spencer & Tracey Washington

We had the best time at the Casitas for our 15th Anniversary. So relaxing and peaceful. Fabio with Exotic made our trip absolutely perfect. Hugo and Jose helped us work off some of the fantastic food in the gym and on bike rides. We're definitely going back again!

This is my wife's and I, first vacation at El Dorado Casitas Royale and our eight vacation at a resort managed by Karisma. The large resort is well managed with many great restaurants, bars and friendly staff. We had a great room on the first floor which had its own private pool and access to a larger pool with wet bar. During our seven day stay, we were pampered by our two butlers, Alexis & Manuel, who visited us every day to ask if we needed anything and were happy with our stay. The resort is huge. We enjoyed walking to the many beautiful landscape areas of the resort or taking the public cart transportation rides. We enjoyed the food at everyone of the restaurants and made good use of the fitness gym to keep our weight in check. It was an amazing vacation with great, friendly staff. We plan to come again next year.

There are two fitness centers, one in Royale, on in Casitas. The Casitas is a small, so we usually go to Royale. We've never had to wait for a cardio machine. They have several treadmills, bikes and ellipticals.

One bike, one cross trainer, three treadmills. A few universal machines, free weights. They offer several fitness classes and yoga, some spinning bikes in this studio.

Yes I’m pretty sure you can use the fitness center at Generations... Don’t get me wrong the resort is absolutely AMAZING, from the grounds, service, staff and the food were all AMAZING... Just don’t buy into “the exotic travelers club” not worth it you can find cheaper rates on almost any vacation site... Marc H

Hi Chris, I don't know for sure but it's worth a try asking. They are so accommodating. Do you lift weights, treadmill, elliptical etc? It might be a liability thing. I know they have spin classes, yoga on beach, you can get a bike And they have a 5 k run every Friday morning. With all that said, I don't think you access the workout room with a room key. It may be that someone has to unlock the door for you. I like to workout too but just haven't when I've been there. My husband did during one of our trips and he remembers accessing it through the gift shop (?) but that was the one on the Royale side. Hope that helps. If I find more information I'll let you know.
