We stayed for 3 nights in a 2 bedroom apartment, although I think it was a 3 bedroom with the additional bedroom locked. The apartment was very well finished, spacious, exceptionally clean and tidy with good amenities. The log fire had been lit and heated the place very well.

The owners were very accommodating in allowing us to check in early with our party of 5. (2 adults, 2 teens and a 9 yr old) Thank you.

My only suggestions would be: to add a heat pump/reverse cycle air con unit for the evenings to keep the condensation down and chill off through the night period through the winter. The log fire is wonderful but takes a while to get going when you return after a day skiing or to start in the morning. Additionally, a water pump to increase the shower water pressure would be a nice addition.

We had a very comfortable stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend or use again.

Hi Roughy67, Thank you for taking some time to offer us thoughts on your stay in our apartment. The apartments were recently renovated and should have been spick and span for your stay. There is new bedspreads and comforters on each bed and extra blankets for those cold nights. Cleanliness is the most important aspect for us. We strive to maintain a very high standard here. We also try to make your first impression of the apartment welcoming – hence the fire going and the apartment also nice and warm: We are very focused on making your stay enjoyable and being as helpful as we can. We do go out of our way to help with special guest requests wherever possible and we do our best to help. We are glad you felt looked after well by us. We are investigating installing additional heating in the upstairs of the apartment. We are glad you had a great stay and would love to see you next time.

We stayed here one night after seeing an offer in the Tourist Information Office, the very reasonable rate included a free 30 minute hot tub and a bottle of bubbly. The couple who were looking after the hotel at the time were excellent and couldn't do enough to look after us. The room was quiet, nicely furnished and clean. The bathroom was clean, fairly basic but adequate.

I stayed at the Abisko on a ski tour of NZ. The accomodation was clean, comfortable, and warm: all I needed. What makes it stand out was the standard of service. When I was about to leave, I was in a big hurry due to a threatened big snowfall. As a result of the rushing around I managed to lock my keys in my car (durr!). The management phoned round for me and managed to get someone to come out within an hour to get me on my way.

When I arrived at my next destination, I realised I had left some (not cheap) clothes in the room. At first, the management could not locate them. However, when I arrived back in the UK they contacted me to say that my stuff had been found: it had slipped behind the furniture!! They sent it back to me in the UK. These are really good people, and I recommend staying at their place for an excellent welcome great service.

Hi Foodvik, Thank you for your review and your lovely comments; Luenne and I are both glad that you enjoyed your stay with us. Local knowledge is very important to us – we make sure we know who to call, when and for what to make sure that the client is looked after all the way. Sometimes this involves fixing rental cars too!!! For us, we are just happy to help. We imagine if it was us, would we like someone to offer us a little help in getting the problem solved? Of course we would, so we make sure we help where we can. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you found our accommodation standards met your expectations. We hope to see you next time you venture to Methven on a ski vacation. (Big snow so far this year!) Thank you again. Alex and Luenne

My husband Peter and I really enjoyed our stay at Abisko Lodge, we were travelling with a group of friends as part of a wedding party.
We hardly saw Alex and Luenne ourselves but still felt they provided a great service, they were very accomodating, helpful and friendly.
We shared a 2 story flat with 3 bedrooms and a bathroom up stairs, the bedrooms were large, comfortable and warm.
Downstairs was a large open plan lounge, dining and kitchen with another toilet and bathroom.
We found the facilties to be clean, comfortable and more than adequate.

Hi Helen, Thank you for taking the time out of your day to give us some comments on your stay with us. We are so happy that your stay with us was enjoyed and so glad that you found the apartment neat and tidy, which certainly makes your stay a whole lot more comfortable. We have since upgraded the apartment bathrooms and we are very happy with the bright atmosphere that has been created by fully replacing all the fixtures from floor to ceiling. For us, it is about value adding for the guest. Thank you again for your kind comments; We hope to see you again soon. Alex & Luenne

I have been to Abisko Lodge for four ski seasons now. I have never met more wonderful people than Alex and Leunne. They are so knowledgable of the area and helpful. Nothing is a bother. The location is great. The view of the mountain from the lounge room is simply breath taking. My evenings are spent having a 'night cap' by the fire before I recharge for another day skiing. See you this ski season again!

Hi Docedm, Thank you for your comments. We are so glad you enjoyed your self-contained apartment. I agree, the views of the mountains are, at times spectacular – just a pity we could not have put on one of those special sunrises we sometimes get. This really showcases the mountain well. Methven is a real hub for the ski enthusiast with over 19 different ski options within an hour or two of the village. There is nearly always an option available on most days from Heli-Skiing, to the club fields or the traditional Mt Hutt. Snowaction magazine (just hit the shelves this week) sums Methven (My Hutt) and the Canterbury ski fields up real well with a 16 page editorial. To steal the words of the travel editor of Snow Action, David Windsor… “In a tweet, Mt Hutt is a slick, international destination that ticks all the boxes”. Cool comments. Looking forward to seeing you next time you take on the mountain terrain. Thank you again. Alex & Luenne
