Right from the beginning we had a bad experience, we had called at least 30 minutes prior to our arrival however we still had to call and then consequently wait for over 30 minutes in the summer heat. The lady that welcomed us offered us something to drink and eat to excuse herself which was lovely. We were taken to our room underground which at first sight was beautiful. The problem was that there were diffusers in the room which hid the smell of damp. By the time we came back after dinner with the garden door open we could only smell the damp of the room. The furniture was dusty, the bathroom has mold in the corners and stays constantly wet. We had to leave in the middle of the night and sleep in the car because my partner had an asthma attack and could't breathe due to the damp. We left a note but instead of being contacted by the locanda, we had to call them. We explained the situation and asked to justly not be charged and the owner hung up on us. THESE PEOPLE ARE BULLIES. They have now charged us for this stay despite everything that happened. As someone who works in luxury tourism in Italy I am completely appalled by the management and emplore people to not allow bullies like this to have more business. NEVER AGAIN.

The house is lovely situated in the main road of Bibbona and almost not noticable from the outside. This is why we were positively surprised entering it and finding ourself in this authentic historical mansion. The owner and her staff are extremly polite and go out of their way to fullfill your wishes. Try to book a room on the upper floors. Our room was downstairs with access to a little garden but was lacking natural lightening. Breakfast was good but I d love to see more hotels and guest houses to use glass water bottles instead of small plastic bottles. Overall a great experience and defnitely more intimate and special than any other regular hotel.

Villa Toscana is a gorgeous Bed & Breakfast, elegant, cozy, and very comfortable. The owners, Riccardo and Mariquita are charming and welcoming. I was enchanted with the beautiful room with vaulted old brick ceilings, ample fireplace and gorgeous antique furniture. Mariquita has wonderful taste, and it is reflected in the beautifully appointed rooms. Ours was a spacious suite with a private garden, gorgeous! We were greated at breakfast by their beautiful dog Lazslo, and treated to plenty of delicious baked goods and breads, fresh fruit, yogurt, local honey and jams as well as espresso or cappuccino made to order. We spent several hours around the table in the front room after our excursions to Bolgheri -- where you can visit their store Villa Toscana, where you will find gifts, antiques and home accessories -- and to the beautiful towns on the coast, which are about a 30 minute drive from the hotel. I would highly recommend Villa Toscana.

La Locanda is located just at the footsteps of the historic town of Bibbona (not particularly beautiful but a good base to explore the surroundings and less crowded than other towns nearby) and from the outside you would not distinguish it from the other unremarkable buildings lined up in its narrow street.
Things change when you step in to find a completely restored, beautifully refurbished home which exudes style and charm and looks as it is coming out of an architetcture magazine (no wonders, the owners run Tuscan style furniture shops and have been decorating houses from NewYork to Tokyo). The place consists of 5 rooms, two large sitting rooms with big, old wood tables and fireplaces where breakfast is served and you can relax for the rest of the day, maybe sampling some magazines, having a cookie from the large, country style kitchen. Rooms offer the same country chic style and very good proportion; ours was downstairs and thanks to its thick walls allowed us to sleep under a blanket with air conditioning turned off in the middle of a torrid August. Finally, service. The place is a bed&breakfast, so there is no staff around after late morning, but breakfast is a feast of freshly baked bread and pastries jut bought from the bakery in front of the hotel, and staff will insist to offer you whatever you want to make you happy; another small thing, when we arrived our two-years old toddler found a big puppy dog to welcome him in our room, something very smart which we never found anywhere else. I just hope these guys will open some other hotels in other parts of Italy or elsewhere!

+1
I recently stayed at this Boutique B&B in Bibbona while visiting wineries in Bolgheri. The Locanda is in the middle of the Village and it is quite easy to find it.
Once inside you got the impression to be in a Relais rather than a B&B and immaculate and stilish interiors make your stay in Bobbona a real treat.
The Locanda is very clean and well kept. The seven comfortable rooms are simply unique with classy interiors, really good quality furniture and my single bed was really comfortable. If you are in a romantic trip do not miss to book the suite with the huge bath under the stairs. The morning breakfast is worth a trip and Lilly's cakes, jams and coffees were simply delicious!! A special mention to Beatrice for her warm welcome.
