We arrived mid afternoon, after picking up our car at Bari airport and then taking a leisurely drive to this delightful little property. We were greeted by Petra Palazzo, who enthusiastically showed us around our 2 bed family suite with 2 bathrooms a lounge and kitchen area, located adjacent to the reception and breakfast area and also just a few feet from the beautifully clean pool with superb loungers and umbrellas.
Petra also met us a breakfast each morning and was very informative and helpful, recommending places to eat, places to visit and where to park etc.
We were also well looked after by Michele, a member of the owner family, which included Maria, Pietro, Rossana and Doretea. Michele, helped prepare coffee and scrambled eggs, otherwise there were juices, yoghurts, cakes, cold meats & cheeses, cereal and fruit, etc. at breakfast time and he was always around to keep the pool area clean and tidy, fishing out any leaves or bugs, almost the moment they landed, such was the cleanliness of Trulli D'Autore. Petra also very kindly provided us with a kettle from home to use throughout our stay and Maria supplied a few other bits and pieces including some wine to help improve the flavour of the bolognaise sauce that we made on one of the nights we chose to eat in. We were very grateful for their kindness and support. Such a lovely family and team.
We had a really relaxing stay here and balanced our time by also venturing to Alberobello, Taranto, Martina Franca and Locorotondo, which were all within reasonable driving distance from where we were staying. We would often come back and spend an hour or so in the pool before getting ready to go out for dinner.
Martina Franca was only about 7km from us and offered great places to eat, sightseeing and shopping. There was a large supermarket DOK, which was easy to find and was stocked everything, including a deli, drinks and all you could possibly want.
Alberobello is an amazing place, where trulli's are clustered together, quite touristy but very interesting and unique. Locorotondo was a great place to wander of an early evening before choosing a nice street / alleyway restaurant or pizzeria. Followed by gorgeous Italian gelato.
We took the 30 or so minute drive to Toranto on the Mediterranean coastal side of Puglia, mainly for shopping and taking a walk around and having some lunch in one of the large squares. Bargains to be had, with very good discounts advertised in most shop windows. Our girls took a major liking to the bargains in Zara!
Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay at B&B Trulli D'Autore and cannot recommend this highly enough for being an excellent choice of accommodation, professionally and caringly run in a great location, by fabulous, friendly hosts. 10/10 and certainly a place we would consider going back to, if we find ourselves in this beautiful and fascinating part of Italy in the future.
We checked out on Thursday morning, after breakfast, to continue our adventure in Monopoli on the Adriatic Coast of southern Italy.
