Write a reviewThis is a well run facility and one of the nicer units we stayed at. Our "hosts" were very friendly and chatted freely. Like many accommodations on the South Island, no AC, but we did have a fan. (although lack of screens on most of the windows/doors). Room/bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was also very good, with hot items cooked to order. Pool was fine (not heated), but many bees there. Didn't use Hot Tub. Although they have laundry available, it was $30 a load (whereas other places we went to were free or $4-5).

Hi Charles, Thanks for the review. We're glad you had a great stay with us. As you mentioned the AC is pretty uncommon in the south island as we have pretty cool evenings. Our pool is solar heated, and we are installing a heat pump on top, to increase the temperature and the length of our season. In regards to the laundry, as we use our own products, for a health and safety reasons, we have to do the washing ourselves, which means you don't have to do anything at all. We stayed at Lime Tree Lodge for 2 nights whilst on a 3 week tour of the south island and this was one of my favourite places. From the moment we arrived we were looked after and you can tell the team here really want your stay to be perfect. The property is a little way out of Wanaka. This meant it is quieter than being in town and you are surrounded by fields, animals, birds and peace and quiet. WONDERFUL.
Our suite was beautiful with doors opening up onto the lawn - it had everything you could want whilst on holiday.
Each evening there were complimentary canapes and drinks - while we were there these were hosted by Lisa. She was so lovely, chatty and willing to help however she could. It was a fabulous opportunity to meet other people staying at Lime Tree Lodge - like one big happy family all sitting around the fire talking.
On our first night we were tired so decided to have dinner at the property - what a fantastic decision. The food was sensational and we sat around the big dining table chatting to another couple staying there.
On the second day we ate out at lunchtime so only wanted nibbles in the evening. We decided to sit by the pool and Lisa was so kind to keep coming out and checking on us to see if we needed anything (she even brought us canapes and wine).
A fabulous place to stay - would highly recommend.

We did enjoy our stay at LimeTree and Linda was a fabulous host, but.....
What we loved - Linda's company, the 6pm drinks and opportunity to mix and mingle with some very interesting guests (although some guests were not into this), the cleaning is faultless and bed comfort just fine.
What we thought was OK - breakfast - good without being memorable, our room size was quite tight - could not put one suitcase out, much less two and could only walk around the bed and that was with only one small diningroom type chair in the corner, not even a lounger. The location is about 10 minutes out of Wanaka so need a car.
What is a worry - the property has recently changed ownership - there were many hooks on the walls in all rooms and hallways with no artwork (so obviously gone with the previous ownership and not replaced). The pool is sad in maintenance and only 2 loungers for 10 plus guests, the gardens, whilst having good bones, had many empty garden beds with nothing planted and comparing to the average house garden we saw and so admired for their colourful displays in our one week trip of the south island, a dropped ball one may think..
The cost of this lodge is not cheap at over NZ$350 per night for the cheapest room - it is probably overpriced and would be worth more homework to explore if alternatives may be better and a watch this space on the future.

Hi there, Thanks for your feedback and glad you had a good time with us. I would like to explain few things about the your worries. We have managed this property for less than 3 months and it is all really new to us. In regards to the artworks, we have ordered custom made pieces of art, made by local artists. And therefore it takes some time. All those 'hooks' will be filled within couple of weeks. We wish it could have been before, but quality takes time. All the empty garden beds are being replaced as we speak as they were full of dead or dying plants. Our aim is to plant those beds as soon as the weather will allow us. I guess when it comes to gardens, a bit of patience is required. While the pool has only 2 loungers, it has a table with 8 seats and couple of benches. Therefore we can caterer for all our guests at the same time. In regards to our rates, we have not increased our rates for the last 18 months and we wish to keep the same level for at least another year. Wanaka is not an affordable place and if you compare with our local colleagues, we are right in the market. We are so glad you enjoyed Linda's company as she is a gem and I'm sure she told you all the good things to do in Wanaka, including lovely restaurants. Our family stayed at the Lime Tree Lodge for two nights. The service was exemplary a six out of five! When our previously booked outdoor activity was cancelled due to weather, Linda quickly made calls at the last minute to arrange for an outstanding boutique wine cellar tour.
The grounds are idyllic with lovely gardens, a pool, and the cutest sheep and alpaca in the adjacent fields.
Likewise, the breakfast was the best we had, especially the vegetarian option with potato roti, mushrooms and avocado. In addition to several cooked breakfast options, there are bowls of fresh fruit, flaky croissants, and delicious yogurt and muesli as well.
They also offer wine and canapés each evening. It’s nice to mingle with the other guests in this small, personal inn. Common spaces include a very comfortable living room with a fireplace.
The rooms are comfortable and clean but basic, as are the bathrooms - the only reason for not rating this special lodging a five.
Definitely a great place to stay while visiting Wanaka. But guests should note that the inn is about 10 minutes from downtown Wanaka. Staff is happy to arrange taxi service which can be charged to the room.

A lovely Lodge on a beautiful property.. we were welcomed on our arrival by John , who owns the property along with his lovely wife Pauline. The place is pristine. Our room was well equipped , large and very clean . The property does have a pool although closed while we visited ... So much attention to your every need. We were close to the town of Wanaka which is beautiful and picturesque. The breakfast here is generous and well prepared and in the early evening there are refreshments of cheese , wine , tea Whatever you wish. Highly recommend a visit. Although the property has been sold, i hope the same quality of service will still be available Thank you Pauline and John for a lovely stay.
