We stayed here one night before our next day hike of the Hooker Valley Track. (One hour drive; go early.) We had a corner unit which was probably large compared to the rest. It was very comfortable and provided everything we needed. Staff were helpful in providing dining recommendations, which are a short drive away. Good value.

The motel is very comfortable and a good find. Our room was very spacious and the kitchenette was very well equipped. We really appreciated that there were laundry facilities available to us as well. I didn't see any shampoo but I think I just needed to have asked the hosts as I am sure they would have supplied what was needed. It was a very quiet and comfortable stay.
Check in was easy and the hosts very friendly and helpful.
There are some lovely walking paths close by and we enjoyed an evening walk. Grocery stores were close by and just across the road from the motel were a couple of food trucks - coffee, pizza and fish and chips. It is an easy drive to go to Mount Cook for hiking there. We also were able to do an evening drive to Lake Tekapo from our stay in Twizel. Making this a great location to stay.

This place is awesome. Very nice and clean rooms, well equipped kitchen and friendly owners. You have also got a front porch with seats and a bit of garden. I also liked that there are walls between your and your neighbours front porch, so you've got some privacy. The center of Twizel is just 5 minutes away by foot. You can find restaurant, pubs and Supermarkets there. The rooms are well isolated, so you can't hear your neighbours at all (not like other motels). If you fancy stargazing you can walk a couple of meters away from the motel during the night and you'll see the most unbelievable sky on a clear night. It's also quite close to the mount Cook National Park (45 minutes by car). We stayed there two nights and went hiking at the NP. That was very cool. and Twizel seems a bit more laid back and less touristy than Mount Cook Village. I really recommend to stay in Twizel and the Lakes Motel!

My husband and I stayed in a 2 brm unit with our adult daughter after completing a hike at Mount cook. Fabulous friendly host, wonderful clean unit. Comfy beds and awesome spa bath which was very welcome to soak the tired legs after our hike
