This is our second stay in Sol Katoro. This time we had one of the superor Apartments with a view of the bay and pool arera. The atmosphere is Nice and calm. The perfect spot for children to have fun and for adults to enjoy themselves. The city of Umag is full of nice restaurants, and though it is 4 km away it is easy to reach with the frequent trains driving all day long.
Definetly worth a visit
We stayed at the superior apartment and and it was okay. The double bed was okay but the sofa which my kids slept on was not comfortable. It was too hard and looked unkept and dirty. We had to cover the sofa with 2 or 3 bed sheets provided before my kids could sleep on it.Apart from that, the apartment itself was very modern. We were very satisfied with the kitchen and the bathroom.Fresh towels and toiletries were delivered everyday.Free wifi was available throughout the apartment and the pool area and we were happy about that because my children could send all their photos back home to their friends.I must say however that the wifi was not always stable.Sometimes, the connection would disappear only to reconnect a few minutes later. The pool and the beach was nice and clean.Breakfast and diner was also very good.Lots of varieties to choose from the buffet.Delicious food especially the mackerel fish.
The apartment was very fine - newly refurbished. The cleaning was also very fine the staff was very friendly and smiling.
That is the positive things there are to say about Sol Katoro. The beds were very hard. I had red marks after a nights sleep.
You pay for Wi-Fi, but only one person can be on the internet at a time :-(
We had chosen half board and we were in a state of chock when we saw the restaurant. 800 people dining in two hours. The staff did their best to make it, but there was just too many guest standing at the "assembly line" trying to selfserve themselves. The food was many times overcooked and the restaurant was very noisy.
When we wanted to have a quite and cozy time at the terrace in the evening - it was completely impossible, because there was so much noise coming from the entertainment scene for children from the age of 4-8 years. It started each evening at 22.00 and continued until 23.30. Even my 10 years old son thought it was terrible.
There are no parasols by the pool and you have to pay extra to use the sunbeds and parasol outside the pool.
The water at the beach is not very nice - there are no waves at all, you have to walk far out to swim, and it is not clear as we found it many other places in Croatia.
Future guest also have to be aware that the resort holds 2500 guest.
We recently visited this beautiful resort on recommendation of a friend. Super facilities set on the lovely Croatian coastline. Lots of space for the kids to run around in, a great entertainment programme and a slightly chilly swimming pool (early season though). We found the staff to be friendly and extremely helpful. A little shuttle train takes you along the coast to the town of Umag every 20 mins. We had a great time.
