We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a group. The owners were very hospitable as our group required some accommodation on their part eg: early breakfasts! Our room was spacious and had a little balcony and was always cleaned immaculately. The public areas were nicely decorated and the place had a homey feel. Breakfasts offered a good supply of cold food and hot eggs were offered too. The hotel is towards the back of the lovely town of St Gilgen and everything is in walking distance.

First of all, we traveled in May of 2017, but I couldn't find a way to enter a date that far back. This belated review is well deserved. The location was nice (close to the road but a short walk to restaurants, sights, etc.), the room comfortable and quiet. Breakfast offered a variety of mostly cold offerings (standard in Europe from what I gather), in a pleasant setting. Our host was courteous and helpful without being intrusive. For the cost we were extremely satisfied.

Stayed at this hotel for a week during our stay in Austria. We booked a two bed room apartment as travelling with 2 children. The owners answered our questions before the trip in a timely fashion. They allowed early check in as the room was available.

The accommodation was clean but had basic furnishing. Nothing lavish about it -functional apartment. We mainly used it as a base for our day trips in Austria. We had no issues with parking at the hotel which is free. The old town and boat dock are a few minutes walk away. Supermarkets - Billa and Spar are located nearby. Wifi speeds are excellent and wifi was free.

We managed to visit Berchesgaden (50 mins away), Hallstatt and Obertraun (45 mins away), Zell am see and Grosglockner road (2.5 hrs away) and Werfen for the ice caves (60 mins away) during our stay.

Enjoyed our time in Austria - thankyou

The Falkensteiner is located right at the edge of town, which is just fine. The town is small enough that you can park your car in their private lot and keep it there if you stay in town. The rooms are comfortable, although the addition of fans or A/C would be a welcome addition. The breakfast is very nice, with plenty of options to chose from. Our room was on the third floor, which afforded us a lovely view of the mountains and overlooking a stream.

We stayed here about 7 years ago and wanted to come back on a recent trip to the area. The hotel was just as we remembered. Same as last time, we stayed in the annex. Our room on the first floor had a balcony, overlooking the back garden. The room was spotless, comfortable bed and small but functional bathroom. Unfortunately, I was not feeling well on this trip, which meant we didn't get to do the touristy things that we had planned. However, at least I had a nice view when I was sick!
The owner is very friendly and accommodating. We had originally booked a double bedded room but when I got sick, asked if we could have a twin. No problem. The request was dealt with quickly and with a smile. Breakfast was a very nice and varied buffet, including cake (!). Eggs made to order.
The hotel is nicely situated on the edge of the village, within easy walking distance of the lake. While I didn't get out to eat, my husband enjoyed several good meals at nearby restaurants and on our final day we did the boat trip to Stobl and back. This is a nice way to see the lakeside villages, including St Wolfgang and provides some spectacular scenery.
