This little place is out of the way of the normal tourist track. A family runs and operates it and it shows. Quiet, peaceful, clean, and friendly. They speak enough English to get by as well. One tip, during breakfast your room number is on the table you are assigned. Great views of the castles and beautiful country.
This is a special place. The family is so welcoming and kind and the room was clean and spacious with a wonderful view of the castle. The location is perfect, you are in the beautiful countryside but close to town and highway. We would love to come here again.
We enjoyed our brief stay at Waldrast. The staff were so nice and friendly and engaged us in very pleasant conversation. We had gorgeous views from our room and liked our balcony overlooking the mountains. Waldrast is a bit out of the way, but very easy to access by car. Breakfast was fine, in a lovely room. Wifi was a bit weak but we managed.
We drove further to Reutte, just because a guidebook suggested that we could find more valued accommodations there than in Fussen. We were glad we did.
Pension Garni Waldrast is located in a remote part of the town with a beautiful setting... a large meadow with a view of snow-capped mountain in the background (see pic).
Upon arrival, we were checked in by a grandma who appeared very calm but very gentle and welcoming. She accommodated our request for an early breakfast given our early visit to the castles the next day.
The building itself is very charming, with old but well-preserve deco and furniture. The room is cute with very comfortable bed and linens.
The breakfast was also very good and the dining room was gorgeous. We really enjoyed our stay there and it was the best accommodation (of all 6 places) we had in our trip.
This hotel is best for people who enjoy peace and quiet.
The owners of this place are fantastic. They are the nicest people. The "son" speaks very good English and we were able to communicate everything. He went out of his way to help us find restaurants and shopping. The setting is gorgeous, at the base of the alps with nice views. Parking is easy, the place is clean and quiet.
On the downside, the breakfast was very sparse. Our German breakfasts (stayed in a few other towns on this trip) were much more varied and tasty. The room was very small for four people. The bathroom was very dated and required me to rig up the shower head with tape and string so I could stand underneath. It also did not have a vent fan but was always musty-smelling. The hotel did not seem full but we were given a road-view room instead of a mountain-view which would have been great. That may be because the rooms were smaller but nonetheless worth mentioning here.
Overall it is a charming hotel with excellent customer service.
