We stayed at the Berry Head hotel for our 1st wedding anniversary and booked the sea view room. The view was amazing, and definitely the highlight of the room. However, the decor of the room and hotel was very worn, and could definitely use some work. Our white sheets had 2 very obvious orange/brown stains on them, and the matress was sunken. The room overall was pleasant, but not quite the 4* experience.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. We booked a slot to use the swimming pool, which we had to ourselves. The bar staff were able to offer me an ice bucket and fresh milk for our room on request.
We had booked a table at the Bonaparte restaurant on site to celebrate our anniversary. When we arrived for dinner, we were led to a table at the bar, closest to the bar/door, furthest from the view, which was quite noisy. I informed the waitress that I had booked a table at the Bonaparte restaurant, however she said they were overbooked and that I should have known that they cannot guarantee a table in the restaurant when I booked (despite my email confirmation a week prior of my table booking). She did allow us to order from the Bonaparte restaurant menu, but it would have been nice to have been given priority for our table at the restaurant given our celebration and that we were staying overnight in the hotel. Once the waitress took our food order, we were told there would be a 50 minute wait for food. It would have been helpful if we were told about this before we ordered our food. Fortunately, our food arrived in 30 mins and the portions were generous.
We had a pleasant sleep overnight and enjoyed the breakfast in the morning.

I am very sorry that your table was not where requested. Due to the Covid problems we have had to spread our tables throughout the building due to reduced capacity in each area. We have also been very busy and the advisory on a potential delay is always stated in order that people are aware that there may be one. Very often, as it was for yourselves, that delay does not in fact arise. I hope you may visit us again when more normality returns and times are less trying for us all.
