Hello-

For my daughter’s move-in to Penn State University, I selected accommodations closest to campus. The Ramada Inn. The 1st room had a dirty toilet (urine was dried on the seat). The man at the front desk apologized and moved us to another room. As I was sanitizing the new room (Clorox wipes), I heard the family next to us (who had checked in just after us) outside screaming and yelling "Let's Go!" I opened the door and the woman yelled “Bed Bugs!!” Sure enough, I pulled back the cover and they were sitting there without a care in the world. Bed bugs. So, I returned the second set of keys and was told that I would receive a full refund. Everything else was sold out! Everything! So, my daughter and I slept (she slept while I kept watch) in my rented SUV parked in the Sheetz gas station parking lot. I stayed up All night and instead of having an additional day to help her get settled, I had to get in the road, without sleep for over 24hours and head home. Thankfully, I made it. Traumatized.

Although, I am still waiting for my refund, the BIGGER issue is that during a global pandemic this hotel is not even taking normal precautions. This was Move in week and parents from all over were in town to get there children squared away at Penn State main campus. How could the the Ramada by Wyndham be so careless and unconcerned about it’s guest’s safety?

I am still traumatized and in shock and I think that this place should be closed pending an inspection.

Ramada by Wyndham State College Hotel & Conference Center 1450 South Atherton Street, State College, PA US (814) 238‑3001

I will keep sending emails, calling, leaving messages and escalating it as far as I need to to get answers (and my refund).

Sincerely,

Dark red Stains on the door. Hair found in the shower. A broken bed that almost caused me to fall out of it twice. Had to sleep in the other bed. Service by staff members was really great though. Wouldn’t stay again.

This place was a dump, room smelled had to change to a different room, Most rooms are outside and you have to navigate a maze to get to them, Doors allow a large amount of freezing cold in from the outside. Beds were OK, not very comfortable. Rooms were small and bathroom tiny. I liked the location, it was close to the facility where we had a conference. The service was reasonable. You park in front of your room, it is more of a motel than hotel. The restaurant food was good and well priced.

Good location near PSU. Room is very small with sink outside of bathroom. The hotel has interior and exterior room. If you have an exterior room, be prepared for a nice hike from lobby. Overall room was okay ane comfty bed. The TV lost signal a few times and CC didnt work (I'm hard of hearing). Internet was lowsy that I used my hotspot mostly. Did not use the pool/hot tub but it's there and can book a room that overlooks it.
Caution: Breakfast is $10 on weekends but free weekdays. There was no major difference besides glassware, waitress, yogurt bar, and bacon.

A word of advice...Don't accept a room off the atrium unless you're part of the group using that area. We had the misfortune to get Room 120 on Valentine's Day when there was a cornhole tournament taking place there. Friday evening there were kids in the atrium from 9 till past 10:30 making all kinds of noise. Then Saturday morning we woke to the thumping noise of teams of adults throwing bean bags at the cornhole boxes.
The room was very clean and well maintained, but the location was a disaster.
