Well positioned across from the beach. We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin for three nights using it as a base for driving around the very historic and scenic area.
The cabins and grounds were very well presented and the staff informative and very helpful.
Firstly great park for families. Units a bit old but ok. Would have been nice to be warned bedroom was right next to train. Bed comfortable in bunk other main one a bit hard. Take photos before you leave as evidence as manager is threatening me with $50 cleaning fee as a plate was apparently wet in cupboard.
Management had issues with booking.com and told me I should not have booked through them. They happily processed my booking but then refused to process my cancellation stating I would have to pay full ammount of 5 night stay when on booking site it said i would only be required to pay 1 night of accommodation for cancellation. My mother had a stroke that is why I wanted to cancel the trip. I stayed 2 out of the 5 nights one night on my own and one night with my 2 and 4 year old. They stated how filthy the unit was which with black carpet anything shows up on the floor especially sand being by a beach providing a vacumn for guests might help everyone as the last thing I want to do is leave crumbs on the floor but a 2 and a 4 year old drop thing's as much as I sat them at the table to eat. The place is great but the manager was a very rude woman according to friends that also stayed she's been rude to multiple people so it wasn't just my single experience. I'd reccommend St Helens big 4 over Ulverstone, the staff there are really lovely and helpful and amenities are a bit more modern but it's a good place for families and if you book direct.
We had a powered caravan site - great site, very good size, not crowded. Excellent amentiies, very large and well-used camp kitchen, very good laundry and TV room. Very friendly staff. Beach just out the back, through locked gates. BMX bike tracks right next door for the adventurous. Excellent spot for bike riding to Turner's Beach.
Once or twice a day, the train comes through right out front - kids love it. Great location, very close to town, cafes, shops, beach and parks. When we were there, they had an excellent special price - pay for 2 nights and stay 3. We stayed 9 nights altogether, and will be back.
We stayed here with our pet dog on the first night of our trip in a dog friendly unit, we were very happy as the unit was very clean and comfortable with a dog bag treat for our fur baby. We left and we traveled the east and west coast arriving back for 1 night on our way home only to find that there had been a mix up with our booking and we were a day late, either party were not sure who was at fault but went to work to find us a nights accommodation which with our dog became a problem, but the owner perstiated and was able to locate us a Mitel room for one night which we are very grateful for, he not only found us a nights accommodation but refunded us the previous night charges which was very grateful.
We do not hesitate enough to recommend the Big 4 at Ulverstone when they went out of there way to help us out, no doubt when we stay at Ulverstone again this will be our first choice for accommodation
Thank you so much for your help.
Our first night staying in Tassie after picking up our Motor home and driving from Hobart to Davenport we made the best decision to drive a little further up the coast to stay at your caravan park.
Our children 2 and 9 loved the jumping pillow while we made dinner and kept and eye on them from our powered site.
We enjoyed walking down the beach and playing for ages at the most amazing parks, if only we had the kids bikes for the Pump track or scooter for skate park.
Showers facilities were great, clean, lots of room and great water pressure and temperature for a cold evening.
The train in the morning was a highlight for the little one, especially when it tooted the horn.
What a great place to stay, and the lovely lady in the reception that welcomed me and let us pick whichever site we liked, getting one that was close to that jumping pillow but easy to park the motor home, this was not something that some other caravan parks offered on our next few nights, so thank you so much for choice and for being so friendly and giving us a discount as we had a Cruisin (other big 4’s didn’t) your park is an older one but a great one, we will be back.
