It really wasn't clean. My feet from walking to the shower to the bathroom were black. The kitchen and appliances were covered in grease and there was a greasy grill pan with fat left in it in the cupboard. There was red stains all over the bed cover which looked like blood and therefore I chucked this in the utility cupboard. There was only three bowls and large plates even though the there were four of us. Various stains all over the flat including what looks like a hot tea thrown up the wall. The remote control had grease on it. We all kept washing our hands whenever we touched something. I took my parents away for their anniversary and I really was embarrassed with asking them to stay in the apartment. The mattresses were cheap and uncomfortable. The towels were small with stains and holes in some of them. There were no lamps in our bedroom, only the main light. What upset my asthma was the flat smelt of smoke and was made worse when you turned the heating on. Apart from the blood covered bed cover, I have pictures to confirm all of the above. I did not want to touch he cover to take pics in case it was blood. Extensive building works directly outside the property which guests should be pre warned about due to the noise. The view of this did not bother me. The bathroom light kept flickering on and off which had the place been cleaned before hand, would have been replaced. There was no tea coffee and milk which was promised in the description.
Rented the 1 bedroom apartment for the bank holiday weekend.
Very clean, contemporary design. Also welcoming with that homely feeling.
Prices were reasonable due to booking in advance and the Kosovan lady who booked us in was extremely friendly and very nice and helpful.
One or 2 minor issues (hotwater went out and no kettle to start with) but this was sorted immediately.
Would return another weekend. Perfect for little families as an alternative to a hotel.
I was working in the Southend area for 10 weeks, so I decided to book an apartment rather than a hotel for the duration.
My first week was okay, but picking up keys was a bit of a hassle as the owner wanted to know the exact time I'd be arriving so he didn't have to hang around for 5 minutes - something which was quite difficult for me to predict as I had a long journey.
The day before my second week was due to start, the owner called me to say that my room had been damaged and wouldn't be repaired in time, and therefore I wouldn't have anywhere to stay. He didn't organise an alternative, and I was left to find somewhere else to stay at very short notice.
After being treated pretty poorly and unprofessionally, I cancelled the rest of my 10 week stay. Even this was a bit of an ordeal and his cancellation policy meant I'd have to pay for the next week's booking - although after some emails I was let off this charge.
Overall, the flat is reasonable, clean and has good parking. But the owner came off as dodgy, and the treatment I got from his was unprofessional and uncaring.
Me and my firends we went for weekend brake with two children and we wanted to have a flat for more space for them to play than a hotel room. It was hard to find the place as it has no sign on the building at all, no reception nothing. Better to travel there with a car as on the weekends the closes train station was close so we had to travel to South end central from London which makes us 25 minutes walk to the apartments.
Our apartment was on the top floor, we met a woman who was i believe a cleaner she was extremely nice and helpful she even help me with my sons buggy on the stairs. Apartment was very clean. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen was fully equipment. Overall we were very satisfied for that price of £135 which we paid however the location to the beach a little to far, but we were lucky with the weather and we enjoyed walk.
Stayed for 3 weeks. Location has its advantages, 5min walk to the nearest train station and not to far from town, also parking is good to the rear, never had a problem getting a space.
On the downside it is on a main road and the surrounding area is a bit unnerving. The communal door to the rear has been fitted poorly, the latch opens without use of a key, as I discovered when I got locked out. This is rather worrying and somewhat compromises the security of the building.
As for the flat it has standard amenities, the wi-fi works well and the living/dining area is fairly spacious. Meridian have described it as a "serviced apartment". During our 3 week stay the maid only visited once.
The cord on the bedroom blinds was missing which meant we had to roll it up by hand each morning, there was a spotlight out in the bathroom and the clock in the front room didn't work, the landlord was informed a few nights in of these problems but none of this was rectified during our stay. The bathroom fixtures are of very poor quality, the bathroom cabinet is covered in rust both inside and out, and so is the shower curtain pole.
Overall we are slightly disappointed, a lack of care and maintenance is evident in places!
When a building is relatively new and you're paying 90 pound a night you expect better value for money. I am not totally happy with what meridian had to offer and wouldn't stay here again.
