Arrived at the Hotel to be greeted by friendly staff and advised of the one-way system that they had in place. Advised prior to arrival that check in was a 3pm now so they had time to fog the room prior to our arrival. Room was spacious - we had booked for dinner prior to arrival and again things were put in place for distancing. Food was good and portion size was quite big for myself and Husband but some would find it ok.
On the Sunday afternoon we opted to have an Afternoon tea rather than have a dinner that evening. The afternoon tea was lovely which we ate outside in the Garden as the weather was fine. The only thing I would say was that we felt a bit cheated on the Prosecco with our tea as they brought out two little glasses and a little individual bottle of Fizz my Husband commented are we getting one each and he said no it's a glass each and started to pour - in one glass that fizzed up almost over the top - no tipping of glasses or wetting glasses and then there was only a small amount left for the second glass - think a bit of training is needed here - being someone who has worked in Hospitality in a stately home and been Manager of an Executive Lounge /restaurants etc. I did make a comment but it was brushed off!
Hotel is set in some lovely grounds next to a National Trust Park - great for walking! Hotel gardens spacious and they have Gazebo's around which you can hire for 2 hours at a time and they have heating too! There is also lots of other outside seating- well placed for Sherringham and other areas around the coast. Would definitely recommend and would stay again if in the areas.

Thank you for your lovely review, and I apologise that the Prosecco with your Afternoon Tea wasn't served very well, I have spoken to the Restaurant Manager and training is indeed taking place. I do hope that we can welcome you again in the future.

We stayed two nights here in August.
The check in was efficient with explanation about where we had to wear masks and that there was a one way system in operation on the stairs.
We were allocated the Heron room on the first floor which was lovely and had a comfortable four poster bed and lovely bathroom with a good sized bath and separate shower cubicle. Everything in the room was clean.
We had dinner the first night, which was good.
Breakfast was terribly slow and it was very random the way we were served, I’m sure it could have been organised much better. The breakfast choices and quality were ok.
All in all we had two nights, two breakfasts and one dinner.
The Hotel is a nice hotel in a lovely quiet location on the edge of Sheringham Park, the only downside was the slow unorganised breakfast service but we’d definitely return here!

Hotel itself was random in its use of PPE which was a concern. Our stay was littered with lots of small irritations e.g. had to ask for preserves and condiments at meals as these were not offered.
Vegetarian options at dinner was poor. I asked if chef could do me a veggie burger which is a bog standard item , told not allowed by head office as menu is standardised over the 3 Mackenzie hotels.
Breakfast experience left much to be desired eg toast arriving 15 minutes after our tea and tables I felt were too close together for comfort.
Bedroom small considering cost and mattress just a double sagged on one side wife thought she would roll off.
Room was gloomy, colours like throwback to the 1930s.

On the plus side
Hotel is in a lovely setting In National Trust parkland. Staff are nice and helpful.

In summary, the small things in isolation would not be an issue but put together it took the edge off of our stay and we would not be returning.

Stayed here for two nights as a short break. Friendly staff checked us in and explained the extensive covid measures they had put in place. Incredible building with lots of character, lovely room overlooking the beautiful gardens and was cosy with two fireplaces. Very clean and had generous amenities.
We ate in the restaurant on the first night and was able to sit in the gardens. Staff were very attentive especially Tyler who made us feel welcome. Food was amazing and well presented, especially for the price.
We had a lovely weekend, would highly recommend this hotel for a short break!

Lovely old building full of character. Our room had nice views overlooking the lawn, it was clean and c19 safe. The bathroom however had a water leak and the floor grout was black and bath panel was disintegrating from water damage.
The second days breakfast took 45 minutes to arrive with other guests arriving and leaving the dining room while we still sat waiting. The only explanation given by the staff was that they were busy. A poor excuse considering we were the last ones in the room at 9:40 when breakfast closed at 9:30. 2 x obviously rushed (forgotten) breakfasts arrived, both were inedible. If this ever gets to Mr & Mrs Mckenzie, please sort your staff out as they are letting you down and you don’t deserve that.

Thanks for your Question - we do accept dogs at the Hotel and we have specific bedrooms we use for pets. They are allowed in the Library and lounge areas, but not the restaurant, we can serve meals for guests with dogs in the Library.
