For bigger families or groups who just want lots of space, this can't be beat! We had a whole well-appointed cottage for the cost of a motel room. There was plenty of space for the four kids with two bedrooms, a lounge room, and a full kitchen. Thanks again for the nice stay. There was even a free washing machine.
If you're travelling through the Outback staying at the Cottages on Cork is such a treat after all the motels, and Winton is great place to rest up and spend a few days!
Muddy Cottage is located in a quiet side street. Our two bed split-level cottage was beautifully appointed and very quiet - you will get a great nights rest. We had our own sitting room, TV, washing machine (urgently needed!), a very well equipped kitchen, outdoor seating areas and a very comfy bed. And some yummy chocolate cookies. Heaven!
Lisa was usually around the yard and was very friendly and helpful telling us what was going on around the town (a lot!) and we enjoyed spending time having a laugh with her and the dogs - we just wish we could have stayed a couple more days just hanging out in this great little Outback town.
In the 2/3 days we were there we went to the Outdoor Cinema, saw the touring QLD National Opera at the Waltzing Matilda Centre for $5 (fantastic!), saw the poet reciting Waltzing Matilda (and its history) behind the North Gregory Hotel at around 5pm, enjoyed some of the local pubs and went to the Age of the Dinosaurs. And bought myself an opal.
We didn't want to leave as everyone is so friendly and this was our favourite Outback town by far. Thank you Winton for making us so welcome.
Had a 2 Bedroom cottage that had it all - spacious rooms which were clean and well presented. A lovely area to the side of the cottage allowed us to relax in the shade during a warm afternoon. Cottage was situated just 100 metres from the Winton Hotel. Owner was very co-operative on arrival giving us a detailed tour of what was onhand. Definitely stay there again.
We had a very enjoyable stay here recently. We stayed in a two bedroom cottage which was so fresh, clean and well appointed, and it’s in a great location. As other reviewers have mentioned, Lisa is a fabulous host and has given a lot of thought into providing the extras. Seeing the washing machine and clothes line almost made us jump for joy! We wished we were staying longer.
We stayed 2 nights at Cottage on Cork - Hatfield House to stop and go to Age of Dinosaurs just out of Winton and Waltzing Matilda centre. We were impressed with the beautiful cottage, and the attention to detail. It was comfortable and convenient to everything we wanted to see in Winton, and Lisa is a fantastic host! She even helped to see if we could go to the open-air cinema and recommended butcher and grocery store too. The washing machine is great including some washing powder provided and big clothes line. There is plenty of space for 6 people and room for a camper trailer so you can even do a wash to get dust off on way home.
