We came for a college visit and *thought* I booked in the same hotel we stayed in previously (which was great). Unfortunately, instead of booking into the COMFORT INN near WCU, I booked into this Quality Inn. It was too late to cancel, and the Comfort Inn was already fully booked anyway, so we were stuck.

Upon entering the hotel, you’re immediately hit with the smell of cigarette smoke. This may be a smoking/non-smoking hotel by floors, but for a non-smoker, the smell permeated throughout the entire building, even into our room.

Check-in was easy enough. The room was quite dated and the carpet was in complete disrepair. Near the door the carpet was shredded, and in the center of the room is a large area where the carpet is missing (see photo). Ironically, the bedding in our “non-smoking” room had a cigarette burn (see photo).

The wi-fi was very weak and we eventually gave up and disconnected and used our own service. The walls are quite thin and we heard doors shutting most of the night.

Breakfast was on par with the rest of our stay- we were there for 10 minutes and the scrambled eggs and biscuit tray were empty the whole time. I had to ask for the coffee urns to be refilled. The cereal dispenser was very light-weight, cheap plastic, and moved all over the counter when I tried to turn it to get cereal. The danishes were very stale. As you can guess, we gave up and stopped for breakfast on our way to the college.

I will never make the mistake of booking at this hotel again. I should have realized by the much lower rates as compared to what the other hotels were charging that something was wrong.

We booked this hotel month in advance of our Granddaughters college graduation. Our check in was fine when we got to our room the sink water went directly on the floor. To the staff's credit they did fix in within an hour. When we went to the graduation the next day we were gone from 8:00 am until 9:00 pm. We looked forward to coming back to our room. To our surprise the room was never cleaned. When we called the front desk they were very apologetic but could only replace hour towels.
PS. There is no exercise facility at the hotel and the hotel staff was not helpful in finding a facility.

Motel is right off main access highway, perched on a mountain slope overlooking the highway and is located outside the village proper of Sylva. The facilities and room looked to be in excellent condition. Room on second floor was good sized, well furnished and bed/bedding was of very good quality. Highway traffic noise was minimal at night. Breakfast area layout was not cramped. Food quality and supply was very good. Parking was very good. WIFI in room was pretty marginal and rarely stayed available. Elevator available.

Slight mildew smell in room. Tub had partially peeled slip strips that were not clean. Toilet handle broke in two. Upon arrival, trash can full of empty beer bottles in room. Elevators reek of cigarettes.

The Quality Inn is an older Hotel. It’s a little run down but they were doing some remodeling when we were there. Our room was clean. But it’s just a short drive to the college. We have stayed here several times.
