We just stayed 3 nights at this hotel while visiting our son-in-law and daughter at school in Kirksville. We had 3 teens/college kids and my husband and myself so we booked a king room and a double queen with pullout across the hall from each other. We all agreed that this was the best hotel we had stayed at in awhile! Beds and linens were all comfortable. Room temp was great, it was quiet (except for some screaming children in the hallway one morning) and very clean. We loved the breakfast—my 3 teen boys were happy to see they had Cinnabon rolls :). Eggs, breakfast meat, biscuits and gravy, various yogurt and cereals and the 1 minute pancake maker that actually makes really good pancakes. Ha! There was a small pool that we didn’t use but everything looked clean. Check in and out was smooth and the front desk help were very kind when we had questions. We will be back to visit and will definitely stay here again.
I have lots of props to give this place. The counter staff were very nice. I like that they put out fruit and cookies in the afternoon. There are plenty of areas to work, read or enjoy the paper all day. The pool and work out area were great. The beds were comfy and there was a variety of pillows to choose from. The only set-back (part of the shift to wood framing over cement) is that we heard the people above us pacing through the night; the construction guys 5:30 AM conversation behind our headboard; and every detail of the guy on the other sides trip to the bathroom. The breakfast that followed our non-intended wake-up calls was, however, quite good. With plenty of options to choose from.
This is hands down the best place in Kirksville and the first that will fill up during the busy seasons around TSU and ATSU. Pool was great, lit with a purple light. Breakfast was great, rooms were comfortable. Convenient to the highway and to Truman State. Kirksville couldn't really ask for better.
I had booked a suite but wasn't able to keep it because only certain rooms accommodate pets. So, we got a little less room. Our dog was barking while we were away. The gentlemen at the front called my cell and was kindly let us know. One of our party came back to stay with the dog. There is a dog park right across the street.
The hotel felt very modern. There were bright colors and shapes. Our room was cleaner than any hotel room I have ever stayed in in Kirksville. The gentleman working the front appeared to be a one man show. But his customer service was wonderful! The pool area was clean and well stocked with towels. Their breakfast had sausage links, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs, oatmeal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, bread options, cereal options, and a variety of drink options. We spent $160 after tax for the room + the $25 pet fee. I thought that was a little steep for Kirksville. But it was a very good stay.
We stayed at the HIE, July 2 - 5 , I can't speak enough about this wonderful hotel. The staff there is amazing, every person I encountered with was extremely pleasant and went out of their way to help. The rooms are very clean and spacious, the breakfast area was clean and neat, and a very good selection, I enjoyed talking with Kristy, and she is very proud of her kitchen. Tk at the front desk was very nice and friendly, same with Marcos and Carrie. I can't remember all the names who work there, but everyone deserves a thumbs up. The pool area was clean and neat, while I didn't use the exercise are I walked in and it was just as nice, same with the laundry area. Definitely the # 1 hotel in Kirksville
