I trusted both Trip Advisor and Expedia! Granted I should have LOOKED at the reviews first, because if I had I would have noticed the #10 rated didn't really match! Thankfully neither of us saw any bugs or we'd have been GONE! And we didn't experience the smell in previous reviews of Room #134! And I knew when we checked in I wouldn't be eating breakfast there! There was only one towel and one washcloth in the bathroom so we had to get more. Another clue we'd chosen wrong...the bartender at a local establishment said "oh! Make sure everything is LOCKED UP!" when we told her (embarrassed) where we were staying. And the final thing that pushed me to leave a review, after my shower this morning I noticed the picture on the wall in the room.....folks, that is not part of the picture! It's mold/mildew!!!!! Never again!!!
Why do I need to say more??
I had prepaid a non refundable room charge online sight unseen and when I checked in I knew this would not be a good experience right from the start. The office smelled. I realize this was also the breakfast room. I would never consume food in this room.
They assigned me room 134 which is right next to the office. It was like it was set up to be repulsive. I began to get suspicious that this place really never rents a room and just collects non refundable deposits. Our room lock would not work so someone helped us in although we never got it to work. I immediately checked out the bathroom and saw a centipede scampering under a disgusting moldy bath tub mat. The bathroom door was warped and would not shut at all. The odors in the room were AWFUL.
I brought my card key beck to the office and there was a different person there. I told her the room was unacceptable and she asked me to wait while she got the manager (presumably the guy who checked me in ). I waited about two minutes and then left. There were only 2 or 3 cars there on what was a busy Friday night. I was fortunate to book another room. We went out to dinner and drove by this place and although it was 9 pm there were still only 2 or 3 cars in the lot although most hotels in town were booked. I will be writing up complaints with the Better Business Bureau and the Missouri lodging licensing department. This place is a scam and AWFUL! I also put a freeze on the credit card I used. I simply don’t
n’t trust this place.
I checked out 3 minutes after checking in!! The room smelled so bad it took my breath away. I went to inspect the bathroom and the toilet ring was up, someone had used the toilet and not flushed, and there was dried urine all over the underside of the ring and on the toilet. The top towel had what appeared to be blood on it. I immediately went and checked out!! At that time I asked where the pool was and was told there wasnt one, it had been closed for months, although the website states there is a pool. It also stated there is a conference center, and restaurant/lounge... There were none of these things!!
THIS IS THE WORST. First room's door didnt close so we got a new one. That one had a spider in the pillows and a dead cockroach on the floor. There were 2 large spiders on the door that scurried into the first room and the manager didnt seem concerned about that at all. And the entire place looks incredibly sketchy. Save your money, go literally anywhere else.
The hotel room was clean. The bathroom was clean. The beds were comfortable but the pillows could have been better. There were 3 double beds so there was room for our whole family in one room. The breakfast was a bit sparse. There was frosted flakes and raisin bran and mini muffins. The coffee was not to bad. The hotel was close to the river front and not far from I-72.
