We purposely chose this inn as it had water views. It was in a beautiful location, and was close enough to Acadia for easy access.
However, our room was pretty funky - terribly laid out (bed was wedged into a tiny space just inside the door, which meant one of us had to crawl from the 10" space between the bottom of the bed and the closet to get into and out of bed. The room smelled like they had allowed smoking in it at some point in the past. On day 3 of our time there, I threw out the plastic wrapped plastic cup that I had been using in the bathroom for all that time, and it was not replaced with a clean one for our remaining days there.
The walls in the building were so flimsy that we could hear all conversations in the room above ours, and the whole building rattled and shook whenever someone turned on a faucet or flushed a toilet.
The bathroom was very tight, with only one small towel rack and no shelf space.
Perhaps the most surprising was the "breakfast". It was a sufficient light Continental breakfast, but for two mornings in a row, there was no milk for the coffee, and on the third day they ran out of coffee and it took over a half-hour to brew another pot.
Would not stay there again, especially considering the price.
Location, location , location.
This property is located on a pretty little beach with spectacular sunrises. There is a great firepit and lots of seating for hanging out. There was also a nice little deck off of our room that offer the same great views. There was fine parking. The breakfast was better than just cold carbs but minimal.
However...The Inn is an old building done in Victorian Nautical decor. For us it was way over done and likley not made better by the fact that it was raining. My husband actually left the property to find a differnt place to stay. Needless to say we stayed with the reservation we had. We were in the Spindrift suite. It is up steep stairs. The bath room is private in an alcove off a small sitting area in the suite with a curtain vs a door. The furniture was small and uncomfortable but the bed was great. There is no air conditioning but we were there late in the season so did not need one.
Despite the negatives, we might stay there again due to the location. Maybe look at a differnt room.
Lovely location but that's where the fun stops. The room was tired looking, it was cold too, the toilet was in an adjacent room that was colder still. Parking was good but one member of staff seemed 'high' and breakfast was very poor.
I've tried multiple times to make a reservation for one of the cottages through a travel website that I use often. Both times I've made a reservation (which is non-refundable), the hotel calls or sends a note back saying that the cottage is no longer available. Then they offer a different room that is not as nice. I have no interest in working with an inn or hotel that functions this way, but my hands are tied because they won't release an authorization to cancel the reservation. Until they do that, we are still being charged $900 for a room that isn't available. It's disappointing because we love the quiet side of Mount Desert, but we'll obviously be finding accommodations elsewhere.
The Inn is situated in the harbor offering wonderful views. The staff was friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable. I found it to be quite quiet. The bed was comfortable and I slept soundly. Breakfast was adequate - I did not leave hungry. It's a farmhouse converted into an inn so, that's what you are receiving. I left satisfied and would return again
